Grand Rejuvenation Set | Master Resto Staff - Thoughts?

While I know how to heal/buff/sustain etc I'm no master healer. There's definitely better healers than me around on the forum - so I would like to bring up the subject of the Master Resto

(2 items) The initial heal of Grand Healing restore 117 Magicka and Stamina to allies every second for 4 seconds.

Personal thoughts:
117 extra recovery is nice but the uptime of less than 50% is kinda.. eh.. And skills usually cost thousands of stam/mag so while the extra 400mag/stam is nice it's by no means a earthshattering boost IMO.
To keep this uptime up you basicly need to recast illustrious healing every 4 seconds which is a tad bit unrealistic I think..

But what do I know... Healers of ESO - what is your thought on the master resto? Good, meh or could use a buff?

Oh boy. Well, it depends on your perspective. If you want a healing staff for hardcore PVE content (such as Dungeons and Trials) this is one of the strongest if not the strongest and there's a reason most teams have one healer running it at all times.

First, you can wear this with a monster set and two 5-piece sets, and you can easily frontbar it. There are a few frontbarring options for healers but this also comes with the strongest perfected bonus for healers ( +~900 Magicka).
Then, the active effect grants ~470 Stamina AND Magicka to every ally hit by it.

This is adds up over a fight, and it is a considerable amount of bonus sustain. It's almost like getting an entire extra champion point star (as it's very similar to Enlivening Overflow).
As well, each ally it gains value, making it exceptionally efficient for 12-person trials.

So being able to add it without breaking your other sets, giving the most valuable stat possible for healing, and providing a nice sustain buff to the team, it becomes clear why this staff has been meta for so long and there are few other options that are actually run in hardcore content.

It's already pretty strong in group content, especially trials.

But I'll never say no to more sustain buffs ;)

In my opinion it's the best choice for 95% of the pve raid bosses. Why would you want to buff it? That's almost like asking for a buff for maelstrom inferno staff.

Maelstrom inferno is BIS for pretty much all mag content.

Master resto require everyone to stand still and parse. Every second you leave the first 4 second of the spring the overall recovery given goes down to the point of obscurity. it only last for 4 seconds, less than 50% uptime.
In most content it is unrealistic to stand still and parse the whole fight. Every second you leave spring in the first 4 seconds, the fight average recovery given goes down from 100 to 50 to 25 etc. On top of that you also need to find a set you can backbar with it, Olorime can be used on a stationary parse group, but in most content SPC will be far more reliable. It is very situational I think.

I don't think it's fair to compare it to the Maelstrom inferno, but healer arena weapons just seem to lack reliable arena options as a whole.

It's an 8m radius, so in most fights you can manage to stay inside most of the time. And if you have to move further away (e.g. after the boss jumps in CR) then you want to recast your grand healing anyway.
Also many healer sets can easiely played only on your backbar, so I don't see this as an issue (Roaring Opportunist, Powerful Assault, Martial Knowledge, Saxhleel, Stonetalker, ...).

However I agree that some of the other healing options would deserve a rework. I think I never even considered using timeless blessing (AS healing staff) outside of pvp and force overflow (vateshran) looks good on paper, but when I tested it it worked quite badly, probably due to some boss hitbox sizes.

What is the diameter for force overflow? I know you can't stand further than 15m away but what is the diameter?

No it doesn’t if you’re healers actively reusing grand healing

The aoe is also pretty big
