I dont know about you, but i am pretty fed up that i wont be able to ever complete trials in this game unless i waste my time and energy pretending to be social just to find a damn group to run a stupid trial, are you kidding me? Just let us queue for trials same way we do for dungeons, and dont come up with that bs saying trials is different because i dont care if no one in the group knows mechanics, you gotta start somewhere and this is just stupid that we have to go trough so much non sense just to play the game...I am 100% confident more people share the same opinion as me..Just please let us queue for trials.

If you can't be social enough to find a group, how will you be social enough to do the mechanics with a group? I am not against the finder, I am for it but even normal trials require communication and working together.

I can very much see the reason for people's concern about a group finder for trials ... [shudders at the idea of 11 DPS who know nothing about the game queuing into a trial with a single healer and then get mad because they keep dying] ... but that does not mean it will not help people.

Take for example myself. I have been playing this game since 2016 and have maybe ran one or two trails in that time. And I do not see that number increasing anytime soon, because I do not care to stand around waiting for a group of people who leave me wondering if they use the game as a glorified chat engine to get enough people together to run a trial. Sure, I would also likely need to wait for a group finder, but I could at least quest while waiting and then if I get in before I am done for the night then great. And I would just have to go in expecting there to be a grab bag of skill levels and such.

And technically, having a group finder for the trials would not stop those who like to stand around for hours talking to people in chat from doing that.

There are many dungeons you can do while ignoring mechanics and not being social with the group. There are 0 trials you can complete with that mentality.

What you are asking is to provide you with a finder. But you will need to be “pretending” to be social even if you queue for trial, or you will waste hours trying to complete it, if that even happens. Most likely, people would just quit.

On top of that, trials require different optimization, and if finder would be made for each individual trial, queue would likely take hours.

So…reality is, perhaps join a guild and join normal trials. Pretty much every social guild runs normal trials.

Horrible idea. I'm not about to do normal or vet trials with people that don't know [snip] about it. I don't want to queue into something with that many people and have to hope that they know something, have done it before or aren't braindead. Could you imagine doing vhof, vka, vss, vrg with 7 dps that are brand new and want to "get the good gear" so they just queue in. Even if there was a CP restriction that doesn't make anyone that joins any smarter.

You would end up getting in a queue, wasting 45min and then leaving and having to either wait for a cooldown to try again or just get into the same [snip]

I mean....'social' is a bit of an exaggeration.

Pugging a trial in my experience consists of:

    1) Port to Belkarth
    2) Wait until someone says 'LF heals and DPS for nHRC'
    3) Whisper them 'DPS here for nHRC'
    4) Get invited to group
    5) Muck around on the outfit station, do crafting dailies or kill stuff in Spellscar until the group is ready

Even once you're in the trial you don't even need to communicate most of the time. If it's a bunch of noobs then someone will usually shout out a basic description of mechanics. A few trials have mechanics where the group splits up, and all that requires is someone saying '4 dps 1 tank 1 healer each group' and you shuffle into position. I've done plenty of runs where I haven't used chat once during the whole trial.

No-one is pugging trials because they want to have an involved discussion about the duality of man - they want phat loot in as little time as possible. My advice: watch a few youtube runs of the trial you want to do, slip in as a DPS and be a quiet but competent group member. Try not to die, slay some mobs, profit.

i have done tons of normal trials and have never had to say a word. having a trial finder does not prevent socialization. it just happens during the trial exactly as it does now. a trial finder would just making the actual group faster and easier.

i would utilize this. since there are trials that are harder to find groups for in chat.

Not sure why people are against having more options.. your way of putting together a group still exists, you can continue to do so, let the people who want to pug trials from a group finder, pug trials. It's no different then yelling in zone chat, but it's a hell of a lot more convenient

I play eso to play, I don't want to stand around in a zone searching for a specific trial for hours. Frankly, a lot of the times, people just join what has a few people collected already. I've noticed situations where 3-4 players are interested in a specific trial, but don't want to lead a group so no one wins. If those people created a group, the remaining 8-9 slots would be filled from randoms looking to do anything easliy.

Plus, pretty much all normal trials are easy enough to pug, vet is the hard part.. which is exactly what happens with 4 man pledge dungeons, so not sure why it couldn't work here.

I'm just frustrated at how difficult it is to find people for something like nAS. No one runs it, no one wants to run it. I have to join a pve guild, post my dps parses, reach a tier, sign up for a day during the week where they're actually running it, which could be weeks. It's just not fun. Gate keeping normal trial content to these boring and dated systems is why the end game community is shrinking. Some people just don't have the time of day either.

It's gotten to the point where I've debated spending millions just to get the nAS gear I want because it was less stressful earning that money doing things I like to do, rather then sit around in Craglorn all day to no success.

Side note.. hit me up if you have a trial group willing to farm nAS.. PC NA.

Pugging a dungeon or a normal trial has categorically no basis for comparison to a veteran trial of any sort past Crags.

Try running Bahsei fight with no communication and see how far you get. Maw of Lorkhaj, Halls of Fabrication, Kynes... and no, just watching a video will not account for having to deal with 11 other people that may not have done so. You are going to have to cough up some communication and some willingness to work with those other people to figure it out.

There already are plenty of tools available for getting into trials in the game, but nobody wants to accept that you actually have to put in some effort to make them work for you. You know, it's just like working out? People want the results but they don't want to exercise.... good grief.

I agree that this should be implemented. It would be much easier to form PUGS which already have only a small amount of communication if you didn't have to port to various zones saying LFM, and ask 8 times if anyone has a friend in group chat while people play around with their outfit or pick some nirncrux.

    People already PUG trials.

This can only happen with a partially automated system, not with a fully automated one. In this new system, players can create groups and post them in game, and other players can join to those groups via new system. In the end party owner can decide whether the player can join or not since it is their group.

With the existence of a trial finder, what exactly stops you from forming a trial group yourself? Noone in their right mind would pug a vet trial anyway. So what do you lose?
And how do you even know that those unknown fellows from the craglorn LFG pug know anything about the trial either?

No, but make Craglorn zone chat cross-instance (or create cross-instance LFG chat channel). It's sometimes hard to find a group even for simple normal trials when you land in empty instance.

Iam not sure if a group finder like for dungeons would be the way to go.

I would like to see a group finder tool for this similar to the guild finder where you can add your group and specify what you want to do, what you need in total and then have players interested find you. This has the added benefit that it could also be used for achievment runs and farming.

I can see the push for more grouping options, but honestly I think this could only work, if that, with normal trials, forget getting through a vet one with a system like this.
And honestly, as others have said in this thread, how do you think you're gonna get through a trial without ever interacting with the rest of the group, especially if you are gonna have a higher chance of them not even knowing a thing about said trial.
I do believe a way to introduce people to trials would be appreciated, so maybe a tool like the one you propose could have an option to have tutorials alongside the trial finder, if that is indeed the issue at hand.
If your issue is that you feel like you're wasting your time pugging in Craglorn, then I don't think things would change much with a trial finder, and you are most likely gonna waste that time you saved searching for a group (and possibly even more) inside the trial when you realize you have a bunch of "Light Attack spamming-I wish I could go back to 2011" stealth archer drones that didn't even bother to look up a guide as to avoid wasting everyone's time.

This gets brought up from time to time and I don't remember anybody just flat being against the idea. People do point out problems and offer alternative suggestions. One problem is some trials need two tanks some do not. Some need two healers some do not.

Someone a while back suggested a trial finder similar to the guild finder. A person starts a group and picks what roles and what levels they want in the group. People wanting to join a trial can look through the list and depending on how it is set up either contact the player asking to join or just click on an available role and be placed there. Once the group is full you are on your way.
I was thinking maybe a chat tab that can be seen from every zone except PvP zones. A player wanting to start a group would go to that tab and to prevent spam from buyers sellers and trolls there would be a dropdown menu where they select the trial and how many of each role. Players interested would then whisper to get the invite. That way we wouldn't have to hang out in Craglorn waiting for someone to start a group.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Or make a trial finder system that works like the guild finder system for active trial runs. Crown can set roles needed (two healers, two tanks, eight dps).

Crown can use premade tags to specify purpose of group (speed run, progression, gear farm, etc.). Can add descriptions for specific details (no opening chests till the end, no hard mode).

Once group is full, the players are automatically sent to the normal or vet version of the trial depending on the difficulty crown sets.

Can use the finder to fill for trials in progress (half done trial where someone had to leave). Players using finder can see how many bosses are left in run, the CP level of players in the group, the classes that the players are using, and which roles are missing.

Once filled the listing is removed. Crown can save multiple inactive listings for future use.

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

What could go wrong for 12 random people in one room with absolutely different goals and ideas of what's going on, right. Looking at all those RandomDungeonFinder tool-centric threads I'm pretty confident that trial finder won't happen even if they'll eventually figure out how to implement it properly.

And honestly if someone already can't be bothered to write "+(role)" in whisper/chat probably doesn't really belong in such cooperative experience, just imo.

"Hi, can anyone help me pls? I have a quest... I need to slay dragons in... Sunsprite or whatever and the mobs keep one shotting me."

I see this in guild chat pretty often. Can't wait to see what's going to happen if these people find out about the trial finder. :)
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

I'm just gonna add to the list of people suggesting an LFG board, similar to the Guild Finder. In theory it's a pretty simple and elegant solution to a problem that a lot of people on these forums seem to have, myself included. It also gets around the major issue that everyone brings up with an automated finder, in that you can actually find people with similar goals and levels of experience rather than leaving it up to chance, as well as letting you set the number of each role that you want to run with. Really I can't see a downside to it.

And for the [snip] "Just join a guild 4head" comments, like this:
Join a guild, sign up for trials.

Some of us work full-time or more, at night, and/or on weekends. Finding guilds who run scheduled trials in the morning hours is nigh impossible. I even joined an Australian guild, yet still couldn't make a single run they had going. It's just not a practical solution for everyone. Also. . .

@Soulshine [snip] I'm all for encouraging social activity in MMOs. I think it's part of what makes them great. But I don't care to force people to socialize just to enjoy the game's full spectrum of content[snip]. You compare this situation to McDonald's and exercise, ignoring the fact that the actual work is doing the trial itself, as well as the fact that it is much harder to have a successful run with a PUG compared to an organized team. You say there are plenty of tools? Where? There's guilds and standing in Craglorn. The former is a general social tool, not dedicated to trials, while the latter is about an inch above the OP's original suggestion (And miles below the LFG board many others are suggesting).
