People are terribly ungrateful. ZOS releases a hotfix almost immediately after noticing a rather serious bug - oh no, I don't want to reallocate my CP again. ZOS doesn't fix something immediately - oh no, how can you delay fixing something so important for so long!

Despite the fact that I will have to reallocate CP on 18 characters I appreciate their promptness in fixing bugs. Thanks! @ZOS_Kevin

No, people are annoyed it was allowed to go live in the first place. If I let software go out with bugs like this in I would soon be out of a job. It's called testing!

tbh I can't be bothered to reset CP. I'll take a break instead and do something else.

I understand that people want to game, but this maintenance is a necessary evil. I don't want to respec my CP on my characters either, but it's just how it has to be. It's not like ZoS is doing this to mess with us.

I think this CP tree is faster to set up than the old one. Green is very easy to set up, it's red and blue that may take a little longer depending on your character

    Data.

When they need to update the data for millions of users, nothing must go wrong. There is no room for errors. I know I said earlier in the thread that I don't agree with their particular choice of update method, but I certainly hope they take their time doing it.

I just hope they will never ever reset the armory saves. Will be very annoying to get vampire/werewolf again on every toon which had them in one of the armory builds

1800cp takes me less than a minute to re do my CP, also have 18 characters to do it on, so maybe 30 minutes of logging/relogging to get this done...just not that big a deal.

This wasn't a bug you caused to happen, it just happened to some people, so why would you ban someone for reporting a bug that they had no part in triggering?

Before you say such things, you might want to make sure you know how this bug happens. Because if you knew that, you would probably say 'Yep, ZOS just had to screw around... again.' Also, don't forget this bug was already mentioned during testing on PTS.

This bug just happend by using the armory:

Well, aint this just a great bug to let through and have to fix.

I can't be the only player with a larger number of 'toons (18) that will have to burn up a lot of residual festival time for double XP so I can re-set 1840 CP points to restore my 'toons.

That's obviously not the EXPLOIT portion of the equation.

Spending them and using them is.

That should be pretty easy to track and ban the folks that decided to abuse the bug.

You can ban people for spending the points and using them.

That's where the "exploit" comes in. You know, the thing that's against the EULA and TOS of every online game out there?

    That thing.

for a software engineer i'm surprised you aren't aware of the fact that bugs don't always manifest during testing. that sometimes on the development side, everything looks good, then it goes client side and you get weird code interactions that didn't happen during testing. it happens, a lot. especially with games.

coding is not an exact science.

But that's not the reason for the fix. The fix happened because ZOS screwed up.
And the CP reset would have happened whether people used the excessive CP or not. It's part of the bugfix, it's not because someone allocated their additional CP. These CP were removed every time you relog or change zone, so by shutting down the server, this would've been dealt with. Wiping everyone's CP was done because they saw no other way to fix the bug itself, nothing else.

Lol, dudes, it's not about cheating. People used bugged feature and had bugged points not knowing that it will happen. No one wonders if it's expolited or not - this is serious problem so they make instant hotfix.

It's 100% ZOS fault, especially if that was showed in PTS. Instead fixing this critical bug then, they waited and now they can instant hot fix but at cost of forced respec. I know that there is no time for fix everything but they should know that's something serious. I'm angry because of that I have to deal with all my 14 characters...

    Eh... no.

Some people might have overspent a few points, figured out what was going on and didn't do it again after they zoned.

    That's a bug.

A lot of players figured it out and went on overspending sprees in trial zones and did it in dungeons, etc. Over and over.

    That's an exploit.

Those players should be banned. Period. No excuses.

None of that is true... you can only slot 4 things from each tree... the secondary non slottable points amount to nothing, it would give no advantage in a dungeon or a trial.

If CP was a far more simple thing it wouldn't be so annoying. Since it is actually NOT that simple thing, and I'm forced to think again where my CPs are supposed to go in all of my 9 characters, yes, this is annoying. I'm a developer too, you know? In my company we make a habit of minimizing the trouble caused to the user when we implement a feature, and we actually manage it fantastically. It can be done.

Basically, this. Good for the dude who'se got a photographic memory and can flash his way through CPs. I don't have that memory so I have to rethink where everything goes, test and then adjust... It doesn't help that I was already pissed at the game and this last blow has really made me reconsider my Plus subscription. It's Bethesda for goodness sake, not a tiny, 20 people company! They got the coin and we pay them enough to be able to do things competently. One would expect someone out of the 300 people team would be able to figure out a way to fix the bug without affecting the WHOLE playerbase.

Not to mention I hate, hate, hate the new CP point system with a boiling passion, so the less I have to interact with it, the happier I am.
