No, they are resetting your CP in the armory as well, as that is the issue.

Would be lovely if they bothered to mention that in their notice:

Oh, so that's what tomorrow morning's maintenance is for. Thank goodness I saw this thread, and also that I never bothered to assign CPs on my alts, just on my 2 mains.

I have green CP allocated on alts, but those are easy to figure out. I used the addon to save profiles for each of my 50s.

Heh. While saving my CP build, I discovered that one of the characters that I did Witches Festival with still had their CP cleared from the last reset.

So a handful of players exploit a bug, and we all get penalised for it? Why not just force those players to respec?

No one exploited anything, the Armory table is completely borked. Most of the folks I know that were affected, got the exact opposite of an exploit from it, it removed most of their AP, thus ruining their characters.

AFAIK, no one actually "exploited" the bug. Several people who noticed it posted here, and said they weren't exploiting it IIRC. Now it's possible some people who didn't post about it did exploit, but no one's really said so far. I have a feeling that the ZOS statement is "pre-emptive" more than addressing an actual fact.

And of course I could be completely wrong - but none of my friends who play have indicated that anyone in their guilds have exploited this. Then again, it's entirely possible no one's telling them if they are exploiting!

OK, my mistake. Surely there's some fix that doesn't force all players to respec, though?

There probably is, but it's also probably more complicated and more likely to have its own bugs. If the options are, fix this tonight, but reset everyone, or fix it in a week and hope that you don't miss an edge case or mess something else up, I think most devs would take the first option despite the inconvenience.

Paraphrased from Rich... They want to make sure that nothing slips through the cracks, so they are fixing the problem, resetting the armory CP, and refunding the CP selections.

There's really not much difference programming wise to reset everyone or only reset those who has less/more cp allocated what they supposed to have. For the reset the code already knows how much cp it has to reset, and comparing that to the currently allocated cp which again the code already has to know for the cp system actually able to function, and only do the reset if it's actually needed when that two number differs is just one additional programming condition.

This is so annoying. I have little enough time to play, so now we have an extra maintenance, and have to redo all our character CP AGAIN.
It would be a very easy coding change to make it simply check if a character's CP allocated added up to what it was supposed to, and if it didn't, then reset only that character.

    Great news!

At least, great news for those of us who want to save "Tabula Rasa" builds in one armory slot per character.

To be clear, a "Tabula Rasa" build is one with at least:
    • No skill morphs chosen.
    • No attribute points assigned.
    • No CP spent.

Whether you want to go even further and free up skill point slots from passive and/or base active skills is up to you.

Will our slots keep our curses? I am wondering about people who have a slot with vampire and a slot with werewolf? I was considering doing this but thankfully decided to hold off. Still I wouldn't mind knowing how that will work?

People are terribly ungrateful. ZOS releases a hotfix almost immediately after noticing a rather serious bug - oh no, I don't want to reallocate my CP again. ZOS doesn't fix something immediately - oh no, how can you delay fixing something so important for so long!

Despite the fact that I will have to reallocate CP on 18 characters I appreciate their promptness in fixing bugs. Thanks! @ZOS_Kevin

I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

The only thing being affected is Champion Points.
