Armory Assistant restrictions

I understand why the assistant should not be available for timed trials, but dungeons?

My motivation to purchase the assistant is null and void

My primary motivation for purchasing was for PUG dungeon runs, to adapt to the team I am grouped with

I really feel the devs should rethink the Dungeon restriction, I cant be the only one that looked forward to this option

You can use him in dungeons of any kind, last I checked on PTS.

ZOS is quoted in saying "You cannot summon the assistant in Imperial City, Cyrodil, Battlegrounds, or Timed Trials and Arenas".
Everyone unanimously agrees that the PVP restrictions are good but there is some debate on the timed competitive PVE swapping.

PvP restrictions are nice, but it'd be neat if at the Alliance Base there was an Armory Station there. Know it has nothing to do with the assistant, but waiting on Cyrodiil queues can be a nightmare depending on the faction and currently running event.

Would be great to throw one near town crafting stations or temples too to save trips. Though that may reduce demand on the assistant.

With the twitter post saying it cant be used in dungeons. Where else would we need it? Overland content is so easy you can solo 99.9999999% of it solo with even a bad spec. So whats so pressing you need the assistant? If it stays like this, I will just port back to my house when I need to switch. Think I will leave the station right where I port in. As I said above, there is no reason to spend 5k on an assistant if it does not add any convenience. Anyone who plays this game long term, has gotten used to porting 10-50 times a play session.

Let console users use the assistant on trials/arena, MAKE CONSOLE USERS MORE COMPETITIVE BY ALLOWING THIS ON TRIALS/ARENAS.

Quoting this comment. This addition should be a great way to bridge pc and console scores, don’t really see why you can’t let console users optimize their runs like pc people.

This, now as I'm on pc I have dressing room but the armory assistant is much more powerful.
And you will get issues with even in guild guns as tank uses armory to make an overland build for his tank but he forget to change before entering an dungeon to help.

From the new webpage about the Armory:

Note that there are some restrictions as to when and where you can activate Ghrasharog (such as in the middle of a Dungeon or Trial run), so be sure to summon him before you begin your activities.

So if you can't use the assistant in a dungeon - what is the point? Because I can't see why you would want to be changing set up much for overland activity. Well that has saved me a lot of crowns/money.

It's not that you need to swap builds for overland, but you can definitely have a build "for" overland. Generally tanks would want to do more damage, or maybe you're just messing around and training skills or theorycrafting builds.

There are times when someone invites you to a dungeon or trial needing a replacement quick and you want to get set up before porting.

YA but none of that is pressing. So every time you head to overland, you just port to your house and change specs. Not like you need to switch to healing, tanking or the like in overland. If I am going to spend 5k crowns, it better give me an advantage, over just saving me one extra port per play session.

All timed content has a hidden timer with a start condition. The timer for leaderboards or speed runs never starts as soon as you port in. You always have to cross some threshold or engage some group of enemies. You should be able to user armory until that hidden timer starts. So if you want to discuss setup with your group at start of dungeon/trial/arena, you can just immediately switch things up. Having to port to your house, use armory, then port back to dungeon/trial/arena before you have really started it is an annoying and unnecessary inconvenience. There is no competitive advantage to be gained by using armorer in the de facto lobby of a dungeon/trial/arena.

Up until today, and even on the PTS, the assistant functionality has been stated as unusable in timed trials and arenas as well as pvp areas. If this functionality is changing less than a week before it going live without even hitting pts, it needs to be much more clearly stated. This is an item that ZOS will be selling to players with an expected functionality. If it indeed can't be used once a dungeon begins, ZOS needs much more than a one sentence blurb to let players know about it.

If the article is simply inaccurate, ZOS also needs to clarify that. Players are now receiving two different descriptions of the assistant functionality and there is a conflict between them. ZOS, don't deal with the negative reaction later once this item is in the store. Deal with it now when it's much less of an issue.

I kinda get if they want to avoid swapping at every mob/boss, but as it is now, it's worthless for anything you have to queue into. If you're overland and get a dungeon or PvP notice, you have 40 seconds to summon your assistant and switch.

What would be nice is either a grace period/zone in the beginning of each area that you can use to switch. Say, you can use your assistant in the first 5 minutes of entering or within 30 meters of the door (for PvP, you can use it in the sewers or main gates). It would also have been nice if they put the armory station next to the crafting stations in the beginning of trials and PvP base zones if they don't want you using your assistants there. But the fact you have to swap before entering a queue makes on the fly swapping via an assistant pointless.

I see little reason to purchase the actual assistant if it can't be used in trials/arenas. I am not totally opposed to that if I am being honest. Swapping year gear 6-7 times in a single trial is something I have certainly done, but not something I particularly enjoy. Anything to discourage that is okay by me.

I think it is a reasonably nice QOL feature for a lot of people, but I wish they would have taken it a bit further. For example, Why no mundus? Seems easy enough, but I am guessing it is because they think it will hurt mundus stone sales.

They should put an armory station in the PVP bases and all trial waiting rooms, right next to an aetherial well.

For me, the part that is really missing is the ability to save loadouts across multiple toons. Swapping gear between characters is one of the biggest hassles still remaining.

That's how I plan to use it, but then I'm in a fairly unusual situation. I've chosen not to use CP in overland content (which is where I spend the majority of my time) because I think it makes it too easy, but that means it's annoying to 'quickly' join a dungeon or whatever where I know the group will be expecting me to use CP because I have to sit there and apply all the points first (and then remove them afterwards). This way I can have two different builds, one with CP and one without. I'll probably add in some other changes as well like swapping out skills I like for thematic or visual reasons for ones I know are more popular or using cheaper and weaker heal skills since there's other players present.

Likewise my tank and healer characters can have more damage focused builds for overland/solo and more role specific ones for groups.

Just have to let our Wallets do the talking. ZOS missed a huge opportunity here and we need to show them.
Alpha Gear, Dressing Room, etc., addons of the sort, are huge among the PvE community (and maybe PvP community?). The fact that they literally kept the most important aspect about "switching on the go" out of this Quality of Life update is mind-blowing.
I understand they don't want to make things "Pay-To-Win" by basically telling console players, "Hey, for $50, you can finally be competitive against PC players that have addons", but holy crap, way to take what the community really wanted to be built into the game and basically cough on it and take its unemployment benefits away, lol.
The update could've been as simple as the Outfit system. Let players create custom layouts, buy more layouts (more then 10 please, Outfits need more then 10 slots now for sure) if they so choose, and then have a simple drop down menu where they can select the build they want to use. Bam. That's literally all they needed to do. That simple.

On a positive note though, the weighted drops is an awesome QoL addition!

I probably can’t speak for all console players, and I haven’t read all the details on this system, but I will be glad to be able to switch from dps gear to thieving gear without changing every single piece one at a time.

So it’s still a big deal for me. Two different loadouts per toon is enough for what I do.

For the record I was in favor of using the outfit system instead but that seemed to annoy the RP people because it was their thing so I guess ZOS didn’t choose that method.

The entire point would be to swap gear between trash & bosses. And while I understand how this could conflict with activity timers and/or make it unfair between players with or without it… if you can’t use it to switch between these two types of enemies - you STILL have to change gear manually - therefore rendering the functionality of the entire system, useless.

I won’t be supporting this with IRL money.

My interest in this feature has dropped completely to zero. Can't be used almost anywhere, no stations in Cyrodiil/IC bases, no stations anywhere, no support for mundus stones (don't even dare dream of support for the Twice-Born Star set). Vampires have been completely deprived of any sense in this patch so even switching between vampire and mortal doesn't encourage me much. So no, as for now I'll pass.
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

I took it that this is for people who are alt-phobic and want characters to be able to move from tank/healer/damage/thievery/PvP/solo content without major reworks for each. They don't want it to be a tank having four builds each tailored to different bosses and mobs. Dressing room still does the latter.

I tend to play my characters as they are. I like the immersion of having my character just how they are. How many fantasy warriors/sorcerers etc lug around a load of different sets of gear when they go dungeon delving?

I doubt I'd use this, but I'm not someone who swaps gear around anyway, I live with the build I make.

    Not remotely.

The point, is to be able to switch between builds for different playstyles / areas of the game. Like a PvE build and a PvP build. Or a Raid/Trial build and a solo build.

That's how similar systems are used in other MMOs that added them. Not for tweaking your setup for every boss in a raid.
