I have a suspicion that the drops are skewed to the beginning and the end of the events where the middle seems to have a much more rare drop rate of anything but junk.0 -

It seems like an unfortunately low drop rate, but if you can farm even half an hour here and there in FG1, it's quicker than other methods.
FG1 is in no way faster (even using the waterfall route) then the Alik'r dolmen train. You can't pull more skulls faster then running that train.
Makes no difference though, with the sad drop rates they've coded for these things this event.
Sadly, most will resort to traders (like I did) or have guildies with better RNG gift them.
Cute pupper, glad I got it. Just sad I couldn't get it through normal gameplay.

Isn't there a cooldown on skulls per activities? Like if you do dolmens too fast in rapid succession, you don't get one until the cooldown is up? There's no cooldown on dungeon boss skulls.
You don't do the waterfall route, you kill every boss because every boss drops a skull. A group of four can pound out runs in under 5 minutes (run through all trash to bosses) so 5 skulls in 5 minutes, then instaqueue again.
