Does ZOS hate Night Blades?

Serious question. In my plus 4 years of playing I have seen nothing but Nerfs against us. Nerf to fear, ambush, cloak, Incap, Relentless focus, our passives, both snipe and poison inject. "Ah but cloak was just buffed" no, it was just made less inconsistent while buffing all reveal abilities. The last (only) buff I can recall is changing focus to increase Crit damage. AND yet now they are removing that. 5% Damage does not equal 10% crit damage! Which is our main play style! Striking big crits from stealth then slipping away again. Their reasoning behind it is absurd; cap crit damage at 125% because crit CHANCE is too high in PvE 🤦 (nerf chance or add crit resistance to mobs)

stamblades are fine, snipe and poison inject nerfs arent nightblade nerfs, theyre nightblade RP nerfs. magblades taken the full force of all the nerfs.

I would bet all my crowns that NBs are the top users of both snip and poison inject out of all the other classes combined! And they aren't fine every patch chips away at both class identity and power

snipe and poison inject dont synergize well with nightblade compared to other classes, unless youre a snipe ganker who doesnt wanna actually play the game and does nothing but press it in stealth and get a glitch that buffers the shots to make them all hit in one game tick, killing the target instantly with no chance for response. the only reason you have that would make nbs more likely to use them is for rp purposes, or immersion, or whatever they call it. thats not nerfs to the class. being a snipe spammer isnt playing your class. stamdk is more effected by those changes than stamblade

Cloak change was a huge buff, whoever says otherwise just don't understand the game.

    (Especially magblades.)

Whether it's a buff or nerf is entirely situational. Anyone stating otherwise doesn't play the class.

They synergise perfectly with NB especially with relentless focus, but all your bias aside. The 1% of NB who don't use a bow are still getting a nerf for some cockamamie "balance" for PvE

There is nothing situational in your dots and enemy dots not pulling you out of stealth. Literally nothing. At long last you can use all the skills and safely cloak after that, and not only spammables.

Fun thing, I'm playing NB now and making video on stambomber. But sure, you can think that I don't play NBs if that makes it easier for you.

I main a nb in pve. Don't pvp much. But I am kinda sad cause I like my crit damage. And I feel like that's what my character is built around. Killing things as fast as possible, especially at execute. I hope it doesn't changer her much. :/

Well sure, if you completely ignore all the buffs to the detect abilities then Cloak got a straight-up buff — however once you take them into consideration then it's not nearly as clear.

Personally, I see it as more of a lateral change.

Against opponents that continue to refuse to use detection abilities, yes — cloak works much better now. However against savvier opponents that are willing (and understand how) to use the newly buffed abilities, Cloak can be utterly useless.

So as I said, it's situational.

The shadow one? That's for tanking. Kinda always has been. I guess you could use it for RP fluff if you really wanted, but it's mostly just there for the damage mitigation, which is way less useful today than it was back in 2014.

I mean it's not like nightblades have been underperforming. Haven't they been in the top parsers in most trials for a while?

omg, you guys never fail to deliver. literally everything is an "indirect nerf to nightblades" every single PTS.

    Crit damage nerf affects everyone.

Looks like NBs have to find a real build instead of stacking a bunch of crit damage and coming out of cloak with 15K+ surprise attack spam, even on "defensive" builds.

Literally a direct nerf, losing 10% Cit damage

See above. The cap on crit damage isn't the issue (although if any class were to pass 125% it would be NB)

If they kept it as Crit Damage it would of been a bigger nerf for you seeing as you'd hit cap pretty quickly, without Mechanical Acuity's original design, you're not able to get 100% crit chance for 5s out of ganking anyway.. so the crit damage buff would of seen a lot less uptime next patch.

5% damage done will be much more consistent damage for anyone playing a NB that doesn't rely on ganking, while still being useful for a ganker (yes they exist).

Whats funny is the skill originally gave minor berserk which at the time was an 8% named buff, it was eventually changed to crit damage/healing instead. Going back to damage done was the original design of the skill, but now it's unamed at the same value (5% minor berserk). You can now have the 2 at the same time for more damage done than you would of had 3+ years ago.

Only thing missing is the minor endurance it use to give.. but since then, sustain has become much easier and all NB's are using Rally which includes it anyway.

Not saying NB's don't deserve some changes, but this one is probably the wrong thing to focus on.

Perhaps, however I play a magblade in PVP — where they've been at or near the bottom of the barrel for years. (Stam is a different story.)

I'm still waiting on the NB "skill audit" that ZOS promised and then put on hold so they could "focus on increasing performance" (since 2019, I think.)

Even top tier magblades (well, the ones that are left) are frustrated with how ZOS has treated the class. (Again, this is from a PVP perspective, specifically mag.)

I mean, how do you expect the people playing the most crit-centric class in the game to feel with ZOS nerfing crit in one form or another for over a year? Do you find it surprising that they'd be outraged by nerfs that affect them more than any other class?

If ZOS started nerfing the [Snip] out of AOEs for a year straight, you better believe you'd be hearing from the other classes nonstop.

Correct. But a crit cap as low as the one ZOS proposes affects my Khajiit magblade a hell of a lot more than it affects anything else in the game — to the point that it's probably time to look at a race change. If using a crit-centric race actually becomes a detriment to playing a crit-centric class, then there's something wrong with the spreadsheet.

Over the last few patches ZOS has increased the level of crit damage available to all classes/races, so that everyone can get well above 125% — now they're placing an artificial cap on it, which will disproportionately affect the class that actually relies on crit for damage. (Our entire toolkit is balanced around higher crit rate/damage modifiers.)

Now, every other class will be capable of the exact same crit damage as NBs, but with toolkits that assumed lower crit damage. Do you see now why the cap is more problematic for NBs?
