Change the Animation on Templar Jabs

One thing that has really bothered me is the animation on puncturing sweeps or biting jabs when using any weapon type other than a staff.

I feel the current animation is fine and fits while using a staff, and it's close enough to okay while using a two handed weapon. But when dual wielding, or using a one hand and shield, the animation and the ability looks really silly, and makes no sense. To go from wielding two one handed weapons to one spear.. just looks terrible.

For dual wielding specifically. The animation for rapid strikes already exists in the dual wield tree... could you maybe just use that for jabs but make the weapons glowy? For one hand and shield, the animation for peirce armor has your character thrust forward with your weapon. This could maybe be tweaked to thrust several times rapidly, for a proper animation for jabs.

    So what he means is the jabs looks like you're stabbing something while holding a stick/spear with two hands which is not weird when you're holding a 2H weapon like staves and 2H melee.

    However, the DW/S&B does not look like that cause you know, you hold a weapon one on each hand. So I think OP would like the animation to be something like flurry.

    As for me IDC cause it's a conjured spear, I'd rather have the devs make jabs insta cast or you know, be 0.8s like the other channeled spams.

    Thank you for explaining. I still don't care. Animations are stuff I don't look at. I only care what is the end result - is the mob dead? Good. Is the mob not dead? Hmm - must need to change things.

    Animation canceling makes clipping light attacks look terrible regardless. I personally never noticed a difference between the different weapons in this regard since it all looks bad. /shrug

    Somehow I am missing the issue with the animation. The animation going from DW to the holding the conjured spear of light does not seem to be problematic.

    Heck, the end of the animation with DW seems much more natural than when using a 2H sword as you end up holding the 2H with only one hand for a moment while the hands are in the normal position for holding DW when the jabs animation ends.

    I suggest keeping it as it is.

    It seems natural to be holding two swords and then suddenly conjure a single spear, stab with it, and then poof your two swords are back in your hands?

    I do not think what we think seems natural is important since it does not seem natural to be wielding a conjured weapon to start with. I am of the opinion that the important aspect in a fantasy game is the animation appearing smooth. In this case, it seems very well done.

    There’s not much you can do, as far as animations go it’s probably one of the goofiest looking things in the entire game. My main character is a Templar and I avoid that skill because quite frankly it looks embarrassing.

    an animation change would be pretty cool. Elemental Weapon of the psijic skill line also adapts to different weaopon types.

    I like the current animation. It is clean, shows what you hit, and finishes when it is done. And lightning javelins are just friggin cool!

    I beg your pardon but how do you avoid using jabs as a templar? you spam dizzy in pvp ?

    Please no for the Insta cast. I think this game needs MORE skills like this. See I come from GW2 where there you can auto cast normal attacks. This is great if like me you can play many hours and want to save some strain on your fingers (too much button spam here!)

    With Duel Wield and Jabs like this I at least have something like auto attack and can save some of the button spam. So NO, don't kill this! If you don't like the skill the way it is - don't use it. However I have no problems with the OP here and what the OP is asking for regarding the animation for non staff use.

    My stamplar uses it as a spammable and I'm fine with it the way it is. Doesn't need a change imo.

    Yeah leave well enough alone. Last time people complain about its animation; it was that the animation was longer than the channel. So they slowed down the channel to make it take longer.

    It would be cool if they made animations based on weapons, but there are way more important stuff to change at the moment.
