ESO is stunning and exactly the aesthetic I love. Each region is recognisable and consistent, the border areas are a subtle blending from one area to the next, the effects are not ott and annoying and it doesn't look like anime. (anime is fine, I just prefer this)

ESO doesn't have the #1 graphics for an MMO but it's actually pretty good. I'd give it a B+ :)

ESO is ugly. Armors are textures. Animations are super bad. ESO feel like cheap f2p game. I don't know how someone can say ESO look good. Maybe console players? Dunno. But ESO is the ugliest mmo on market with the worst animations.

Play Star Trek Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Neverwinter, or Runescape and come back to us on that one. ESO looks miles better than those MMOs.

I love it, but the hips/thighs are too blocky.
    That's it, that's all.

Which fits with many of the MMOs I've played over the years.

Honestly, I don't notice. Maybe I'm just not that detail-oriented? I've never noticed "really obvious" visual errors in movies, either, so.... /shrug
ESO feel like cheap f2p game.

Wow, you've been really lucky with f2p games!
I don't know how someone can say ESO look good. Maybe console players?

Or maybe they just have different standards of "look good" than you.

Eh, it's not remotely the "ugliest" MMO I've played over the last decade.
(games I've played: Star Trek Online, Neverwinter, SWtOR, TERA, Secret World, Vindictus, going back further: WoW, LotR, City of Heroes, Sword of the New World, D&D Online, Uncharted Waters, that one period where I tried really bad f2p's like Perfect World/Shaiya/Rusty Hearts/Dragon Nest/etc :( But no, I haven't played Black Desert.)

And like I said - I really don't notice the animations. What about them is bad? And how would I go about seeing it? (to be honest, I can't picture any of the animations in my head, I don't think I pay any attention to them when I'm playing the game - they're just something happening while I'm looking at targets or where I'm standing. I also can't say "oh, that game has great animations!" about any of the other games I've played. It's not something I really pay attention to.)

Oh, yeah - I play on PC.

He's right about the armours. Especially heavy armours. In FF14 for example they seem to actually be pieces of armour that hang from the body, rather than just textures.

In regards to the animations, in ESO animations feel very stiff. Like the bottom half of the torso is often uninvolved if the animation can be pulled off with only an arm swing for example. In ff14 (it's just the most recent MMO game I've played, thats why I keep using it as an example, lol) the animations feel and look far more...actiony? Natural? Tough to quantify but they do just feel better and look better overall.

The rest is just ridiculous though. Ugliest ever? Not even close. I mean they need to update models, improve animations, get rid of that horrible persistent distant fog (and update the distant land textures at the same time), and a few more things. But to say it's the ugliest is demonstrably false.

    ESO is far from ugly.

However I do agree that the horse and bear mount running animations are some of the worst I've seen in any MMO.

The graphics in this game are better than any major MMORPG I have seen. They are especially superior to the other two major MMORPGs FF, and WoW.

Eso graphics are nice but I put a reshade on mine and everything looks a million times better!!!

    THIS, 1000 times over.

I like the level of detail the developers took to add ambiance and a life like feel to the game, but I cannot go back to vanilla after using Reshade. It makes everything look a million times better. :)
Does it impact the fps? I'm one of those who plays with fps that's adequate, but hardly impressive, so I suspect an addon like Reshade would ruin the game's performance in my case.

    Depends on the filters used.

But if you are just altering colours the impact is nearly zero. Either way you can install and try it and set the filter toggle key so you can see your FPS difference immediately.
