Rollback after patch lost items

Why was there a rollback after the patch?
I can tell as had looted high end lead from a boss.
I then ate a new bewitched skulls with 2 hour+ timer.
I went and killed another boss and looted and was almost out of dungeon when the server went offline.
When I logged in, loot and leads gone and the oldd timer for the old bewitched skull I ate was still running.
This is on top of having exacting 20 minutes playtime in 2 days because you have patched non stop during Australian play times. So we havent been able to play at all.
