Mirri pulled a World Boss

I had a quest for Thannar the Graveprowler in Northern Elsweyr. There were only two of us fighting him and we got close to taking him down a couple of times but didn't quite make it. So I ran way back out of range to res so we could regroup.

The second I ressed Mirri ran forward and pulled the boss. It's bad enough when she pulls mobs I'm just trying to run past, but I draw the line at World Bosses. I hope this is something that can be adjusted.

Companions react to what YOU aggro, the boss looked at you and engaged so your companion reacts by attacking it because it is attacking you.

It worse when you've almost got the boss downed and she decides to take a jog with the boss to another zone and resets it.

We def need a recall/freeze companion button or something.

    They're all over the place.

Thannar aggros to you from miles away pretty much. Pets/companions don't pull aggro.

I was back even farther than I was before we started to fight him the first time. I was not in aggro range of the boss and he did not attack me. He went right for Mirri after she pulled him.

Had this happen today as well. Standing at the stairs, Tannar in his resting spot. Mirri suddenly decided to attack (I was not moving for a couple of minutes).
    Odd.

The aggro on that boss is really weird ZoS needs to take a look at it

Graveprowler has a large detect range, I can see my combat bar appear and disappear standing well back from his spot. Sometimes he will run towards you and retreats without you moving. It "feels" similar to the stuck in combat bug.

Companions don't pull aggro. I've watched Mirri walk right past mobs to catch up to me, after I've hopped up a slope or taken some other shortcut.

When your companion stops to fight mobs that you don't want to fight, just keep going. He/she will catch up to you eventually.

This is not entirely accurate. If you are in range but the mob is not noticing you, it will notice Mirri and she will pull the mob from there. She will not pull mobs if you are truly out of range, but you have to be far enough out of range that the mob returns to its spawn point if it is trying to engage you (which is pretty far away).

In other words, if you are out of visibility range but still within the mob's combat area, Mirri will still pull the mob.

Rightclick + "Y" will do the trick to recall your companion. It works the same as with pets.

This is not true. They work like pets and do not pull aggro themselves. They can stand in the middle of enemies and as long as the enemies don't see you, they don't aggro companion.

The only time I had a companion pull mobs is because Mirri ran through them with Razor Cape active which automatically dishes out damage every 2 seconds to whatever is in range. Other than that, I've seen Mirri and Bastian run through multiple packs of mobs trying to reach me when I jump down a cliff and they go down via the stairs, no aggro whatsoever.

I think what you're experiencing is yourself being somehow pulled into combat with the boss and your companion reacting to you being in combat with it. That's pretty much how pets/followers have always worked and companions work that way too.

The bug would lie in the boss being in combat with you.

Note: once in a long while you will be in combat without aggro. If you train past stuff a lot you know how annoying this can be. It's pretty common in Wayrest Sewers as one example.

True. Companions never pull mobs. They just notice the start of combat much earlier than you (being the bots they are), so it sometimes looks like it.
I've been at the very same boss yesterday and must say, that it really looked like Mirri started the fight. But he has an insane aggro range and starts the fight with talking, so it looks as if he did not act first.

Yup, it's not companion pulling boss, but boss decides to attack companion, so companion decides to run away, so boss decides to reset himself to achieve personal nirvana and players rage.

    It's all game mechanics :D

Not had any issues with Mirri as yet but that is partly due to the fact I use Bastian more.

Had some issues with Bastian, one example is I was lock picking a house to get to a lorebook and a civilian expressed his disapproval. Bastian took it upon himself to attack this civilian and proceeded to kill him and lowered my rapport with him in the process. I didn't even touch the civilian 😔

The npc started combat with YOU, and Bastian reacted to that.

The aggro on that particular boss seems messed up. I noticed during this event that it aggros before you enter "the area".

In the past, you could stand within the area to wait for other players but that boss would sometimes despawn.

Perhaps this instant aggro is the result of fixing the tenancy to despawn.

Why use it in the first place, yes they are everywhere and nowhere. I never used them but are annoyed beyond reason seeing them everywhere blocking doors, wayshrines, guildtraders. This must be the worst thing ZoS implemented since beta.

This boss aggros well outside of the range that it's likely supposed to start.

This (unannounced?) change occurred with the release of Greymoor. This boss and the Lightbringer in Southern Elsweyr both aggro from a HUGE distance where they did not previously. Initially I thought it was a bug and would be reverted but it’s been a year so I think it was an intended adjustment.

Had Bastian do the same from the top of the stairs. Normally you can stand there and safely wait for others to turn up. not with a companion out.

"Hey, Mirri, you pull it, you tank it." ;)

Seriously and on the note of companions resetting boss due to breaking tether-range, I'd like to see the companions, when they dodge roll, not always dodge-roll away. They should routinely do so laterally or even toward the player - just like a good dps player does.

I agree companions don't pull aggro themselves.

There are situations (probably bugs) where they seem to. At Harrowstorms, standing at the edges, I've had Mirri seem to charge in for no reason on her own. There's some kind of mushy gray space where enemies 'see' you at the edge but don't actually begin combat mode. But it's enough to trigger the companion.

I think they are correct. Before companions o had died, rezed and moved away while in ghost form. As soon as ghost form ended the NPCs were attacking me. I was outside of what their ranged attacks should be able to do yet was still being attacked.

In other words I was way out of the way but something with the server was out of sync.

Both my tweedles have had their ranged weapons taken AWAY from them.
Fed up with them constantly resetting bosses.
