epic companion gear drop rate

The drop rate seems very low, but the best bet is to do dolmens in a less crowded area because both the summoning cultists at the start and the end boss of the dolmen have an increased chance to drop gear; if the zone is crowded there's a high chance the cultists are already dead when you reach the dolmen. I sold whatever purples I got my hands on, because it makes very little difference in practice, the difference in stats compared to blue and even green is negligible. I only searched TTC for a bargain purple to get the achievement and found a maul in a bad trait for just 2k gold in a more obscure guild store. What matters more is companion level, it's weapon and armor skill and skill setup and also the guild skills. Gear is far less important than those.

Finally got another epic/purple companion gear drop Sept 2nd .. a dagger, which was kinda ironic as I had just had a green one drop and bought a blue one for 99gold .. since Mirri says she prefers daggers ..

The epic dagger has a good trait .. but still the drop rate is horrid, and then you are also at the whim of RNG as far as the trait ..

I hope they plan to do something to let us craft or transmute them or somethingto upgrade what we do get ...

All Companion gear of all qualities seems to be dropping more after the patch, of course that's anecdotal, but wouldn't surprise me if they bumped up the drop rate.

I got 4 or 5 purple drops while I was using companions. 2 were resto staves.

I think so too. Before the patch I had picked up just 1 purple (resto staff). Since the patch I've picked up 3 new purples (bow, axe and cuirass)

Why are the so many green resto staffs compared to other companion items? Seems like if I could combine 50 resto staffs into 1 purple, I would have at least 3 already.

I've been playing just over a month and have gotten 1 purple. don't remember trait but it was greaves, that thing sold in a day for 200k. Being a new player, that was huge

my experience too. The droprate on companion gear across the board is too low. I haven't seen an epic at all, and the handful of blues I've gotten are for DPS, while I'm trying to spec Mirri for healing and Bastian for tanking.
