epic companion gear drop rate

I play every day, do harrowstorms, world bosses, etc .. have my companion out as much as I can .. so far since companions were introduced I have only had 4 pieces of epic companion gear drop, one of which is a staff which I banked in case I decide to use it in the future (Mirri prefers the bow).

The drop rate seems insanely low for me and for any of my friends I have talked to, yet there is epic companion gear for insane prices listed in TCC (Adam Smith would be proud). Plus I got my first 3 epic peices somewhat early on and none in the last 2 weeks at least. Get plenty of useless green gear, and some blue level gear I can at least sell thru my guilds.

Is there some way people are "farming" for epic level gear? Running Alik'r dolmens? Or is there some way to increase your chance of an epic level drop? At this rate it'd take forever to get everything as epic with the traits you want ... I don't mind working for things but this is disappointing ...

The way I farm for companion gear is to not think about it. I do the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, and Undaunted dailies across multiple characters. Public dungeon hit every boss in there when I can, but don't dwell on them if they're already dead. Spare time hit up all the delves in a zone, go sky shard farming on alts who are missing them, or complete zone story quests for extra skill points.

I've gotten about 4 purple items total so far all in the first week or so and none at all since. Could it be a bug with Rapport maxed out?

Bastian is level 17 for me and I still haven't had a drop of bracers, gloves or gauntlets any color. He'd still be wearing white if I hadn't bought him something. Drop rate is annoying for companion stuff.

I have gotten .... 4? pieces of epic gear since Companions launched, no jewelry. All but 1 piece was heavy (which neither of my companions wear) I do multiple sets of dailies of all kinds with both companions out. I run dungeons and solo DSA almost daily for leads. Sadly, companion gear does not drop in group arenas even if your companion is out.

2 pieces of purple gear dropped from world bosses, 1 from an overland mob and 1 from a public dungeon if memory serves me right.

The thing with "increased" drops is it only increased green and blue IMO. Green is trash, you can't even give it away in guild. Blue is basically worthless unless it's a perfect trait, and that's rare. Purple gear won't be coming down in price anytime soon, because I'm not paying 500-750k PER PIECE for off trait gear.

Don’t worry about it. The Blackwood event will drop a ton of Companion gear as per PTS.

I haven't got not even one purple companion gear yet - that is a dissapointment.

On June 10 the score for me was:
"From the 66 items I have 39 are green, 23 are blue, 4 are purple,
Almost all from Public Dungeons.
With grinding bosses, mob packs along thye way, repairing armor: per 1 hour gross time approx 2-3 drops"

It would not surprise me when the drop rate per hour playing is higher when you do dolmens, but I prefer less hectic travelling all the time and just do currently mostly (bosses) public dungeon grinding for my companions on a new character I started in May.
The drop rate since early June could be slightly higher because I am now for my feel at around 3 drops per hour.

I am now at a total of 199 blue and have no count anymore of green because I sell armor at the trade guilds and weapons to a merchant or Nuzhimeh.
I got from drops 35 purple. With selling off some and buying some my total purple is now 42 pieces.

Although the numbers are a bit small foir statistics to say something strong, that 199 blue to 35 purple I have now as total drop ratio, is not that differing from the 23 blue to 4 purple of my June 10 total. And I do get much more green than blue.

=> the drop ratio between purple-blue-green for mainly public dungeons could be around roughly 6%-34%-60%.
=> at 3 drops of any color per hour from mainly those public dungeons that would mean 1 purple per 5 hours.

I have so far developed all 6 weapon skill lines of Bastian and for Mirri 4 fully and the other 2 partially.
(Now doing the Ice staff. I had planned to save the Ice staff as last one but could not resist earlier. The nice thing about the Ice staff, besides the taunt for Bastian, is that your companion stays on your side in melee fights. No roll dodging. During playing now Mirri with Ice staff jumps into the fights with her Warp Strike).

For me it feels right that getting enough purple gear matches the full development, masters of all arms, of your companions.
And full blue is already very good in combat performance. Getting full blue in desired traits aided by some trading or buying cannot be a real obstacle.

Do you play with a companion on your side ?
Or do you have a companion unlocked for the characters you play with ?

(In case that drop rates depends on having a companion relation at all (unlocked) or having a companion at your side while playing)

I run around with my companion all the time, and have yet to get a piece of purple gear for her. A few blue bits, but thats it

Honestly, have you seen the stat difference?? There's not much difference at all between Blue and Purple. I'm perfectly fine with Blue gear in the trait I want... even if I got a Purple piece, I would never swap it out over a Blue that had my preferred trait, definitely not worth it for the minuscule gain.

people were complaining the same way about companion gear in general a month ago, meanwhile guildstores are flooded with it.
You can't even sell a blue bow with penetration for 5k any more.

Purple already drops in price as well, as people sell their doublettes.

I just bought axe and flamestaff pretty cheap (staff 40k), and this even on xbox where companions started later than on PC.

In addition, it is not really an issue, as the advantage you get from upgrading is small.

On armor you can ignore it, as it makes almost no difference if a heavy piece gives 2800 (blue) or 2900 armor.

Most increase you see on weapons, as the increase of damage done from 800 to 900 is more than 10%. So focus on the first cheap weapons you can get in stores already, then upgrade armor a little later, like end of august.

There should be ways to improve quality and change trait for companion gear as well as normal gear.

same here, mirri and bastian on each server all around level 11 and what do you know - I've also come across exactly 4 epic pieces of companion gear...

I've gotten about 12 or so purple drops. Problem is, 99% are trash traits and worth nothing so they get vendored.

- greens: 77
- blues: 44
- purples: 4
Total: 125

G: 62%, B: 35%, P: 3%
stats are not descriptive enough, but 3:100 for purples is my rough estimate.

Drop 2 epic, 2 heavy, so not for me, but it's good money ~500k ea.
I was surprised how much it cost and how fast it sell tbh.
I don't really care about it, if one day I drop part I want, I'll use it, maybe, if price stay high, then, probably sell since I don't rely on my compagnon for anything anyway.

I've had the chapter only since Quakecon sale and after suffering companion with me ever since have dropped 1 purple (companion bow, Agressive trait) and not too many blues. If I cared about companion junk drop rates I'd feel pretty miserable.

Oh, I love low drop rates. Purple gear is marginally better than blue one and if you lucky - you can earn nice money. I found only two purple items so far, but one of them was soothing necklace. Blue one costs something like 10k, purple with something like 0,7% bigger bonus to healing I sold for 520k in one day

I have maxed out fighters guild, mages guild and undaunted on both bastian and mirri
I have either one of my companions out doing wbs, public dungeons , delves, dolmens etc and i only got that one epic piece of gear 😭😭😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Purple companion gear is ridiculous, I have gotten a couple shields with garbage traits, and thats it. I have no idea why it is so rare, as it isn't that much better, and companions are pretty much just a toy for the most part anyways, so why not let us max them out? Or at least upgrade their gear with crafting.
