I went with Varen 1st play thru, Sai 2nd, looking like Lyris's turn is coming soon

Varen was an easy choice my first play thru, but after playing a while, I find Sai to be as interesting as watching paint dry..., so he went next, and now girl friend acting lately like she doesn't know me, much to my dismay, well... is her turn soon, is all I can say

It just doesn't make any sense to sacrifice anyone BUT Varen... since the others seemingly return in DLCs anyway, while the Prophet only makes one more appearance at the end of Wrothgar storyline.

RIP Varen, no country for old men?, he's number one in the poll, but I hope that some day he makes it into a side quest , and not totally forgotten by the devs

because i cant stand him in the base game
Also bonus point he come back so theres no real sacrifice so no need to waste a life
Sure varen would be a good choice but i like the character so he get to live

All three characters somehow come off as completely uninteresting, lacking in personality, and hard to get attached to. Which is surprising, because many of the other characters from the basegame quests are pretty likeable.

Varen is the obvious choice, as a) everything was his fault, and 2) like. Sai and Lyris still have a lot more to do in life? Not sure if that's weird to say lol. But he's already dedicated his life to trying to fix this.

I sort of think it shouldn't have been a choice, or maybe they should have made you pick one of three quests to do that result in the same person being the eventual choice, so that you see a different side of it with each playthrough. It's not a very satisfying choice, and now that 2 of the 3 characters have returned, not a very impactful one.

Varen just puts on a vaguely feminine voice, puts on Lyris' armor, and refuses to acknowledge anything is amiss and goes on about the quests as if he was her. Same deal if you chose to sacrifice Sai.

Varen is the obvious correct yet another non-choice-quest-sacrifice with no consequenses whatever. Would help caring if there wasn't a huge pile of other non-choice-quest-sacrifices and thousand or more backstabbed civilians already in the corpse closet of my account.
