After years of trying to combat a tank meta, a new CP star is added that gives a unique UP TO 20% mitigation boost
Flare provides passive major protection
battle spirit gets 11% more mitigation

I'm gonna make unkillable tank when these go live. There has been pretty hard to kill tanks before or even unkillable for some but with all the new changes and certain sets you can make a truly unkillable one. I'll build everything into mitigation and survivability. I cant kill anyone most likely but it's ok. I'm just gonna troll people in Cyro for lul's. Ty Zos.

I’ve seen the 22% thrown around a bit in other discussions but never actually backed up by how it was calculated, and now that I calculate it myself it doesn’t seem quite right, unless there is something I am overlooking.
As I see it, it should be as follows:
On live battle spirit is at 44% mitigation.
So you took 1-0.44=0.56 of the damage.
On pts battle spirit is at 55% mitigation.
So you take 1-0.55=0.45 of the damage.
As such the you now take 0.45/56=0.8036 of the damage under the change as you would have prior to the change.
This is the equivalent of an additional
1-0.8036=0.1964 or 19.64% mitigation,
Ie: an attack that would have dealt 10k damage to you on live will now deal 8.036 damage to you on pts.

It actually represents the percentage difference between your own damage done now and your damage done in the next patch.
I.e. a 10k tooltip right now will translate 6.6k on live after battlespirit. Under the proposed changes this tooltip becomes 4.5k. the difference between the net of these 2 tooltips is roughly 20%.

Where does that part come from?

Sorry I had a typo, it should have been 0.45/0.56=0.8036
Anyway, the 0.45, or 45%, is the amount of damage taken after battle spirit under the new battle spirit mitigation of 55% (100-55=45).
The 0.56, or 56%, is the amount of damage taken after battle spirit with the old mitigation amount of 44% (100-44=55).
So then calculating the ratio of these ie: new damage/previous damage tells us how much the change has affected our damage taken, relative to the original value.
So this is 0.45/0.56 = 0.8036, or 80.36%.
So under the change we take 80.36% of the damage we would have previously, or the equivalent of an extra 19.64% mitigation.
Here’s another way of looking at it:
Say on live you get hit for 10k. This means that before battle spirit, the attack would have done 10k*1/(1-0.44) =17.86k.
Take that same attack and apply the new battle spirit mitigation to it, so 17.86k*(1-0.55) = 8.036k
So what would previously been a 10k hit is now a 8.036k hit (ie, 80.36% of the original 10k, or a reduction of 19.64%).
(These are actually the same calculation of the ratio or relative change, just presented slightly differently and the first skips a couple of steps)
