I would like an option to only show pets/allies/companions of people in your group, and not of anyone else.
As a positive side effect, that might actually help with server performance as well...
so..... all these years of Sorc pets running around in towns getting in folks way at banks/wayshrines/crafting stations..etc, etc. never bothered you, but this does?GONE IN A MYRIAD OF COMPANION CLONES EVERYWHERE FOLLOWING ALL THESE OTHER PEOPLE. I ENJOYED the game for the past X DAYS and NOW IT'S COMPLETELY RUINED

What about completly beeing able to customize them, that, if you encounter them, the character-creater will appear just as if you would create a new player character for yourself. You can edit the entire appearance from race to hight, bodyshape, face, ... just everything as you used to be. Even the voice by having choices on different pre-set editings of the recordings to fit different characters (higher voice, lower voice, hissing undertone, etc.)
That would not only solve the problem of clones for good, but also improve on realy living your own story within the game. 'Cause at least this character will be the one you're ment to completly share it from that moment on, so I think you realy should be able to customize them to the fullest.

ESO has never been a game for immersion.
I think it would be awesome if I could place them in my homes as well, weirdly they can't be.

They can. When you get them to max rapport you unlock them as houseguests. You don't need to fully fill out their rapport bar, you just need to reach the last rank of rapport status with them, which is "companion".
I don't understand when people say "Idc about the helmet so its not important" okay great. But why be against an option that would be inclusive to both those who prefer helmets and those who do not? outright just not allowing helmets caters to one small group of people who don't care about immersion and just don't give a *** about the little details. There are many others who I've met in and out of game that hate the sea of Bastian and Miri faces. Like literally it'd be so easy to just enable helmets and those who don't give a crap about it can carry on not equipping any and those who do can use helmets.
I hate it when studios try to tell you how to be immersed. The entire reason of not adding helmets was due to ZOS wanting to retain the personality of said companions. But how can someone retain a unique personality when you see 20 of them running around? Just allow helmets and everyone can get what they want.

Actually, you unlock them as house guests right after their quests, which is when you reach "friendly" status.

Right...after their last quest, right? I think you need to be above friendly for that. Friendly triggers the first quest but I had to do many more Mages Guild dailies to get Bastian's second to pop. Honestly it's felt like years with these two already, all the dailies have merged...

I was waiting for more quests when I leveled her rapport up more, then went back and checked my achievements and had already done both of them (so one must have led right into the other). I just hit "companion" with her and it's at like 95% of the bar and you get no more quests up there (just a gift from her). Also didn't get any quests during our "close" phase.
