What makes you think “it will be the most used set?” It’s been around for years.

Because that set is now being mentioned in a lot of builds for blackwood, it now has been talked about being the "New Meta"

    Nerf everything that's meta!

Getting real hard trying to defend pvp from being the scapegoat for every nerf in the game with posts like this 😑

This set is so old. Why are people wanting it nerfed suddenly lol

Because, other options have been nerfed.

The truth is, since Fortified Brass nerf it has always been part of the "secret meta" because it provides enough resistances in one 5-piece that you can stack damage or sustain on all other pieces.

For stam in many cases you don't need to bother stacking sustain (like on stam sorc), but that's also true for someone in a group or faction stack scenario.

With the addition of Gaze of Sithis + this set, it allows a definite amount of defense and tankiness in the game that wasn't allowed before without sacrifice.

Start adding in skills that give % reduction in damage, stam being able to stack lots of damage, etc. and you get a few godmode stam builds that are more powerful than any other build pre-proc nerf, but even moreso, more powerful than any other build when speaking of build power in PvP relatively.

Players that are "in the know" already know what I mean, but hey...better to pretend it's not the case.

That's why I said Gaze, even nerfed is a bad idea.

Having recently returned to the game after 3 years - and not played stam very much either (but trying it now), I've been trying to come up with some builds - and was looking at some defensive sets. I must say Pariah was looking to be a strong contender - along with armour-master (I'm guessing if you back-bar the defensive set then Armour-master's 5-pice bonus is active on both bars, but Pariah's is not ?)
But then my struggle becomes damage and sustain. How are people fitting in both of these with their remaining set? That's my struggle. I find sustain is bearable with eternal-vigor and dubious cammoran throne - but that leaves space for either a damage set OR a defensive set. That said though, I'm sure with more practice, I can become more conservative with resources.. I'm also playing no-CP which I guess makes a difference too.
    Minalan owes me a beer.

    PC EU Megaserver
    Minie Mo - Stam/Magblade - DC
Woody Ron - Stamplar - DC
    Aidee - Magsorc - DC
    Notadorf - Stamsorc - DC
Khattman Doo - Stamblade - Relegated to Crafter, cos AD.

@Biro123 just off the top of my head, I wonder what Pariah would do if combined with Titanborn. Both get stronger with missing health. Never tried, but in no CP it could be a solid pair, at least in theory

    Actually this is completely wrong.

Technically speaking Pariah is kind of weak. By the time you get real benefit out of it you're almost dead anyways and most decent players will CC & Execute right thru the bonus mitigation after around 30% health. Pariah will NOT stop anyone from dying and making this statement tells me you may have no actual experience using or against players with Pariah set because that's the first thing I noticed when I used mine.

The problem here is you need that mitigation on the front end however Pariah puts it on the back end, which executes are still strong enough to eliminate your remaining health anyways.

I'm not baiting however there is no real reasoning behind your argument other than you want to see no one else use Pariah ever because if it gets any weaker ppl will stop using it and go back to Fort Brass or other like sets. Therefore, I can see no real reason to nerf it because then you'll have to go nerf Fort again too when everyone switches back to that.

The real issue here is Gaze of Sithis. It's way too OP for a one piece set, it unnecessarily disrupts the well-balanced and appropriate functionality of similar sets and overscales mitigation on builds when combined with other things, not just Pariah mind you. If nothing else its GoS that either should be removed or revised.

    1. Stamblade can't gank a DK in Pariah.
    2. Go to forum and call for Pariah nerf.

    What's next?

Pariah has a huge drawback. When you get those juicy resistances, you are already low on health.

Maybe you want to nerf Buffer of the Swift next? Pariah already got a nerf some time ago, as did Fortified Brass. Oh, let's not talk about Bastion of the Heartland which is a pile of garbage now. We already saw several other defensive sets recently nerfed, like Eternal Vigor or Orgnum's Scales (through health recovery nerf). That's the reason you see Pariah now, everything else gets stomped.

Which defensive set would you recommend if Pariah is considered OP?

well this touches on the very reason nerfs; a)suck and b) don't matter, because the MATH will find the next op set, which means it'll get nerfed.

then next set, nerfed, next, nerfed,....etc.

UNTIL = there are no sets, just vanilla armor.

if this logic continues to be followed, it should even lead to the destruction of all diversity. classes are op, skills are op, etc, etc.

SURELY the people playing don't want their sets to get nerfed too?

Well we already have Might Chudan I just don't understand why GoS. What if I need mitigation and also need to use a Monster Helm? I just see GoS as more of a problem than a real solution.
