Don’t have to type in password?

I use a LogiTech G13 keyboard. I have my pass word loaded in one button, so password at login is easy! One touch!
    Huzzah!

Keybinding your password? Sounds great. Not like I care about security with eso anyway.

Password managers? Pfft. Who needs those when you have the underside of the keyboard to tape your password to? :D

    I love my G13.
When this one wears out, and the thumb axis can't be fixed, my gaming days are over.

Yeah. Sad that Logitech has gotten out of the business of special gaming hardware.

I had to stop doing that because I was typing in my passwords upside down. :disappointed:

I wish Steam would force me to type in password, write password on piece of paper and tape it to back of tv or monitor.

What's steam again? Actual genuine question,

It's an umbrella platform that hosts games and offers a supporting framework with various meta-features like chatting with friends. You buy games via Steam, the game makers pay Steam a steep cut of the sale, and then you launch the games through the Steam platform using its launcher UI to sort through your library of games. Other such platforms are Epic and GoG.

So in this case, rather than interfacing directly with ZeniMax to play ESO, you're going through a third party that must *also* be up and running in order to start playing.

And guess then you're using the same password for everything, because, well that's just one key to touch.

Which means your password is stored in the clear in your macro data files, which makes it about as secure as say, putting it in a text tile on your desktop. It's personal risk acceptance, I suppose, vs convenience. A common dilemna.

The funny thing is that don't even need to give up on convenience with safe password management. These two can exist together just fine. What I too am using is KeePass, what's available for Windows/Windows Phone, Linux, Android, iOS/iPad/Mac OS X, Blackberry, Palm OS, web browsers,...

This is how I type my credentials (including 110+ bit, 20 mixed characters long passwords*) with just pressing Ctrl+Alt+A, sometimes also a click needed. Well, the click is part of its conveniences, because mostly needed only if different use-cases (like, only password or username and password needed) exist for the same record.

    *
These passwords are just examples, of course, none of them are used.

I see when .bat file Joe and/or Logitech Bob and/or saved Steam Jack yells at me that, that's 3!? keys + even a click. I get it, this is the end of the world but my credentials are saved in an encrypted file. And since it's encrypted I'm perfectly fine with loading it up to Gdrive to be able to sync between desktop, laptop, and mobile. :)

I have an original Logi G15 bought on release in 2001. I know it's going to die eventually, but hey - 20 years is good, right? It's protected by a keyskin (because I'm a klutz with a wineglass....)

I actually don't know what I'll do when it does go to keyboard heaven.

it's a safe bet that the password for Bob's email is also "Today101"
you don't know it for sure, these are just your guesses based on "everyone is dumb except me" without any statistics proof.

Sadly, while it is not quite as bad as "Today101", it is close enough. There is a reason why password managers include checks for reused passwords and consult a database of known passwords. It is not because they like doing unnecessary checks, either.

I was once told by someone that the perfect password was "letmein". Once they learned a bit about passwords, they let me know that they had changed it to Psalm 23:4. I hope you understand the problem that this anecdote reveals, as both passwords share the same problem.

I have a client that still uses an old DOS point of sale program for some inventory stuff they do. The computer doesn't connect to the internet but there is a password to log into the computer. They have to change the password from time to time. Basically they use Password and add a number at the end. So if it was Password14 and they need to change it becomes Password15. When I go in to troubleshoot problems on that computer I ask what number they are on and off we go.

I have a few clients that use one password for everything and nothing I say will convince them to do otherwise.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I liked the G600, but I am clearing out my Logitech gear and already replaced it. It is sad how far they have fallen. At one time I had nothing but Logitech mice and keyboards across multiple computers. Now I have a mix of SteelSeries, Corsair, and EVGA as I find a new favorite brand.

I used to use the Logitech G15 keyboard because it had 18 definable macro keys. Some of them were used like the person mentioned above to log into ESO, except I never stored the whole password in a macro. If someone tried to use the macro, it would not log them in unless they could complete the password. Sadly, my last Logitech keyboard is being replaced by an EVGA Z20 tomorrow.

When I ditched the G15 on my ESO gaming system, I decided to use a password manager with ESO and upgraded from KeePass to 1Password so I would not have to fuss with manually keeping them in sync.
