Companion "Rapport" Meter Not Moving?

Is the "rapport" meter/bar in the companion menu just not moving for anyone else? Been at this for 3 days now, getting lots and LOTS of "yay, rapport increase!!" green indicators in the lower right corner of my UI from doing all sorts of things that make Mirri happy, and it just isn't budging at all. I've even been taking screenshots of it every few hours, and comparing them. There has been absolutely no change. I'm not talking about "the change is very slow and grindy." It's not doing anything.

I've never detected change in the actual rapport meter, whether on the PTS or live.

Companions need work...they really aren't what they said they were when they were announced.

I mean look at the companion announcement video ...how much of that stuff can we actually do?

I haven't been going out of my way to try to increase my Rapport with Bastian, but I've noticed the same thing. The arrow is clearly positioned right over two letters in the text below the bar, and has not moved one pixel since that original Psijic Portal I opened (which the game went out of its way to tell me he liked). It'd be very easy to spot any movement one way or the other, so I'm confident that it hasn't moved.

Either I need to be focusing on doing super specific things in just the right way and at the right time to gain his Rapport (which would be pretty dumb), or his progress is bugged. I'm not sure which is more likely, though. :/

I've been hitting up bookshelves because I hear he like eating books, but I kinda figured that wasn't working because the character I'm tooling around with him on added almost every book in ESO to the Eidetic Memory bank years ago. Just kinda assumed that might be halting my progress.

We've been accosting thugs in various quest zones, but I couldn't swear that they're Bandits™ that he reportedly enjoys thwarting, so I kinda wrote that off too.

We beat a couple Oblivion Portals, and aside from the regular commentary he gives during/after fights he just doesn't seem to care.

We saved a few random NPCs from roadside muggers or whatever, but I guess they didn't count either.

We freed a few captives of some evil magic-wielding dingleberries that were up to who knows what in... I think Greenshade? But apparently that wasn't on the pre-approved list of Things Bastian Likes either.

Like I said; either I'm bugged, or the specific list of things you gotta do to build Rapport is... annoyingly limited. If doing that sort of regular play listed above does nothing to build my relationship with my new friend, then someone on the dev team dropped the ball in a big way.

I'm hoping it's just bugged, and soon to be fixed.

Same for me with Bastion, PC NA, plenty of rapport boosts indicated, zero scale movement

I started a thread in the Bug Report forum for this - see if it's a common issue ( will report when back in game too )

I took quite a few screenshots over the course of about 8-10 hours of playing and flipping through them shows absolutely no movement of the indicator one way or the other.

According to LootDrop Reborn, a book gives a 1 point increase, an antiquity gives 5, and a MG or FG daily gives 125 points. Cooldown on these tasks vary. Three days in, after doing as many of these things as I can, my bar has not moved at all. At all.

Am I supposed to dedicate the rest of my life to making Bastian like me in the hopes that sometime before I die of old age he will let me do his quest?

I have to agree. Either Rapport is not working right, or it was poorly explained.

On Tuesday, I unlocked Bastian. And our rapport was “cordial”. Today, we’re still cordial, but his dialogue now says something like “I trust you”. So it seems some improvement is reflected in companion dialogue.

On the first couple of days, I did several things to improve it: scrying, harvesting mats, visiting Eyevea (that one seemed a big boost). And I did one thing to decrease it: looted a thieves’ trove. It seemed to take a long time to recover from that. But throughout, I was getting regular notifications of rapport increase/decrease.

Today, I received maybe four notices of rapport increase, despite several farming runs around Bleackrock, Stros M’Kai, and Blackwood, several scryings and digging up stuff, completing a number of daily quests (Bastian active at all times), and reading seven new lore books (previously unread). Again, Bastian was active at all times along with Psijic Ambrosia for that buff.

It seems possible that rapport scales down as level increases. So that today, at level 7 on Bastian, it takes 20 “good things” to increase rapport; where on the first day or two it only took five “good things” to increase rapport. Just pulling numbers out of the air - just how the scaling might work. And then it might take 20 “rapport points” before the indicator moves?

IIRC, the devs wanted the relationship with a companion to be more organic and grow or change over time - not be an easy grind in the game. That’s cool, but with so little feedback about changes (occasional screen tip, dialogue changes), it feels very slow. That is if it is working as intended.

So, for me, if reading a lore book or harvesting mushrooms actually improves rapport, it would be nice to have at least a daily notification about it, even if the indicator moves slowly. I do not need it for every single lore book of the day, but once a day, per event, would help.

Feeling the same thing here, if it is moving I can't notice it.
but a bit of feedback if ZOS reads this: consider some tick marks or something discrete so we can notice progress. This smooth gradiant doesn't show progress as well.

Apparently there is an add-on that shows the actual rapport numbers - and if correct it is kinda disheartening: turning in a Fighters Guild daily with Mirri will grant 125 rapport whereas the "small action" ( book, etc ) will grant 1.

I can see where the cool down effect is needed on such small repeatable actions but ..please..the difference is crazy. it is possible to do those dailies on multiple toons ( once they have done the companion quests ) and massively boost your daily rapport boosts - as well as with groups with different daily tasks assigned.

Also, Bastion likes killing cultists at dolmens, a Fighters Guild task, but Mirri must be summoned at turn in for the rapport.
Likewise with antiquities : Bastion scrys, Mirri excavates. Just adds more actions to the player and the server each and every time.

The lack of any indication of small changes creates a sense of "it's broken" or "it's a useless grind", especially when the wrong action can do so much damage to repair the Rapport.

There's rewards at the end, yes but if we can not see or feel any progress towards that end it's a bad design.

well... maybe now that the system is live and more people are having the same reactions many of us have been having on pts but were ignored... maybe just maybe ZoS will finally take notice and adjust it?

at least one can hope. otherwise I don't think I can be bothered to bother with companions at all TBH. they are not helpful with content I can't already do, their gear takes up extra space in my already shrinking inventory, they dislike a lot of the things I do in game on a regular basis on top of already extremely slow rapport gain.. I mean.. if it takes so much of a bother just to unlock a handful of quests... at some point maybe who knows when... why bother?

I don´t know it´s Bugging oder not. But this here shows the effect of the Warrior Guilddayli. That are/should be 125 Points.
All other stuff are peanuts and have a Cooldown. When you read a book and receive 1 Point, You must wait 15 Minutes before a book gives 1 Point again.

    - Entering a daedric delve : +10
    - Completing a fighter's guild daily: +125
    - Reading a book: +1
    - Using a Psijic portal: +5
    - Crafting an alcoholic drink: +1
    - Excavating an antiquity: +6
    - Goblin +1

    The Rapport pointer moves.

I have unlocked Mirri and Bastion on 10 of my characters. Those 10 characters got Mirri to level 11 on Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, and Undaunted skill trees fairly quickly. For Mirri, you get a big increase in Rapport for completing a Fighters Guild quest (with Mirri deployed when you turn it in). For Bastion, you get a big increase in Rapport for completing a Mages Guild quest. Most other things (crafting a drink, reading a book, harvesting a Psijic portal) give very small increases in Rapport.

The Rapport indicator does not have a numerical value over the pointer. So yesterday I measured the position of the Rapport pointer with a ruler for each of the 10 characters. Now, previously, I thought that Rapport was account-wide, because the pointers looked to be in the same position. But when I measured, I found that the distance was exactly the same for 9 characters, but a tiny bit more advanced for my main character. This suggests that Rapport may be character-specific, and not account wide.

In short, the Rapport pointer moves, it just advances very slowly. It advances the most for guild quests (Fighers guild for Mirri; Mages guild for Bastion). You'd need read 125 books or loot 25 Psijic portals to get the same advance in Rapport as a guild quest. I spent some hours on the test server (PTS) "grinding" Rapport. My conclusion: Don't do the grind. Just allow Rapport to develop during your normal adventures. I think the Rapport meter has a maximum of 5500. If so, that's some 44 Fighters Guild quests, or 5500 alcoholic drinks!

I strongly suggest, if you are on a platform that allows addons, to install the addon Lootdrop Reborn. I shows when/if you gain experience, and the numbers above re big boosts are absolutely accurate. I pretty much just run Fighters and Mages dailies for those, with the proper companion active for turn in, and do a scry/excavate with the proper companion active.

When you reach a certain level of rapport, the companions will offer quests. I just got the markers over their heads this morning. I presume it's based on rapport and not companion level.

I have NOT seen any movement at all. On some of my characters I will see notations say I gain some Repour. But on other characters no mater the task like reading a book, or killing a goblin, or anything... It does NOT gain anything, no matter how much time there is between tasks that should gain favor.
