I don't know if it has to be specific, just any alcoholic beverage.
Like is there a recipe to craft or something? I am just confused what counts

I don't know for sure that it affects his like/dislike bar (I have the notifications turned off) but going by his dialogue he's unhappy with me smashing beetles and bugs in Skyreach. He told me to stop, and said I was cruel and wasteful; sounds like fairly strong disapproval to me!
Which is stupid, considering that we're regularly plundering decent people's final resting places, murdering living people who happen to be hostile to us instead of turning them into the authorities or whatever, and mass-slaughtering cute and fluffy animals for meat and fur... but OH NO! don't squish the beetles for those alchemy reagents! They had so much to live for!
How are they rare? There are addons that clearly point out their location. I remember on a previous character, I had no problem completing them all fairly quickly.

Good grief. Sounds like the same stuff I had to figure out in Dragon Age 2 with companions friendship or rivalry checks. I hope they have a similar system with these companions, where when you max out their approval/friendship, you can't affect how they feel about you any longer, meaning they never disapprove of anything you do after that point.

Dragon Age 2. I loved that game.

You can’t just talk to him and find out?
He told me harvesting the runestone would come in handy, he also commented about after we were done going to the inn for a ale. So I am not sure why he is objecting to someone making a a alcohol beverage. Consider him lawful good character and act accordingly. Don't have him out when you are out thieving and murdering.

Took Bastion to do the Fighters’ Guild daily to give him the skill line, and he seems to like the quest. Haven’t tested with Miri yet.
