New cinematic made this one crash

Is there any way to watch the cinematic online? I'd love to see it but definately gonna skip it when I launch my client. Those blue screens of deaths are too scary for me.

I didn’t have issues with the cinematic. This is notable because I did for the last two, I never saw the Greymoor or Elsweyr cinematics because my system would hard crash when they played. I had to go into my user settings and edit it to make the game think I’d seen it, so it would stop trying to play and crash.

The only difference I can think of is a change I made to my settings to address my high GPU usage at character selection, discussed here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/7270971

I don’t know if that’s related to my suddenly being able to play the trailers when I couldn’t before, but i haven’t made any other changes to my system or game settings.

I dunno. I always restart my computer after any major update, and before actually running the game.

The cinematic ran fine for me.

Count me in as one of the people who was surprised to see a game launch-era ESO cinematic with the Michael Gambon VO when I was expecting something for Blackwood!

And yes, it was super choppy. Almost unwatchable in places.

@16BitForestCat No way....I never actually realised that its Michael Gambon. Propably because my game is german anyway, and in german the prophet wasn't actually synchronised by Wolfgang Hess (the second german Dumbledore voice) but of course now that you say it I can't unhear him. Great now I always imagine the prophet as Dumbledore.

Had the same issue, was fixed when I updated my graphics driver. Hope it works for you.

The entire cinematic although I quite enjoyed it, was very choppy for me as well.

For some reason my GPU went nuts when the cinematic was playing. After the cinematic ended, the game ran normal as always.

Edit: RTX 2080 ti gaming x trio.

Mine gets super choppy when it pans over to the White Gold Tower part, every time.

I'm confused... is there no Blackwood-specific Cinematic? I'm not complaining, I just kind of expected there to be something Oblivion/Blackwood related when entering the zone.

That's a very logical conclusion. People's CPUs are probably being taxed.

FPS bogged down to 2fps when first loading up, had to skip the new cinematic just because of it.

Crashed my PC too, I have a duel monitor setup with the game only running on one monitor, when game/computer crashed AMD displayed an error message saying a video driver timeout has been detected

Edit: updated drivers and ran super smooth there after

The "missing" cinematic? It was posted by the Bethesda Softworks account the day Blackwood dropped. It's actually called "Gates of Oblivion Launch Cinematic" which doesn't specifically reference Blackwood, but the description says this:

The Gates of Oblivion year-long adventure continues with The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood.

Thanks for posting that wish it would have played after the intro yesterday to set up the story but oh well. Still the into was only a bit choppy for me. I'm on PC NA and I have observed my fps getting better over the past 4 weeks or more. However yester day at times my fps would soar to 135 or more only to go back down to below 60 fps. Overall the game ran smooth, my companion disappeared a couple times and had to recall him. Over all it actually was not bad for me. I suspect I have a shorter ping route then many people. I was pleased with launch. The intro didn't play for me I actually called it up after I was in so I could watch it, it was laggy in spots but otherwise watchable.

Mine was choppy at the first and near the end. The rest of it played fine.

Cinematic seems to be fixed now. I've played it on a major potato PC and a mid ranged PC and both played flawlessly. On day one my potato PC was screaming at me. I barely got past the video. I get 20 fps on that machine in low settings no matter what I am doing and Yes it is playable. My mid range PC gets 60 fps with vertical sync turned on and over 100 fps without it in high settings but I can't stand the screen tearing so I leave it on. Both machines are now playing the video just fine. Somewhere along the line they fixed whatever was causing the slow down.

I ran into the same issue today on PS4 after our Blackwood launch. Why is there no option to re-watch cinematics? Very disappointing.

But thanks@Starlight_Whisper for sharing your clip of the video up above! I thought I was watching the intro to the main quest video for a min!
