Why the sudden halt on events?

BUT, they have a new event on the horizon, "The Year One Celebration".

Year One Celebration
Return to Orsinium! And Craglorn! And the Imperial City! Celebrate all the content we released in our first year or so of ESO in the Year One Celebration, which combines Orsinium, Craglorn, and the Imperial City in one great big bonanza, available for testing this week on the PTS.
As with other zone celebrations, you can earn Year One Coffers by completing activities in any of the listed zones, which include slaying bosses, looting objects, or completing daily quests.
These coffers have chance to drop many returning items from standalone Orsinium or Imperial City Celebrations of the past, including Maelstrom styles and Legion Zero Vigiles styles.
The first daily quest you complete in any one of the three zones instead rewards you a Glorious Year One Coffer, which has a higher chance of the choicest rewards including the new Old Orsinium weapon style pages.
These pages are also available on the Impresario for 5 Event Tickets each.
What's dropping extra stuff? Hold on, let me find this list here...
Daily quests from any of the zones award two boxes instead of one
Resource nodes have a greater yield
All world, dungeon, and delve bosses in the three zones drop extra loot
Tel Var drops from enemies in the Imperial City are doubled
White-Gold Tower and Imperial City Prison bosses drop extra loot
Maelstrom Arena and Dragonstar Arena bosses drop extra loot
Bosses from the Aetherian Archive, Hel Ra Citadel, and Sanctum Ophidia drop extra loot
The Impresario is also carrying the second fragment for the new mount, the Dagonic Quasigriff, for 10 Event Tickets.

Wrothgar gonna be packed.

Well hey, would you look at that: there's an event going on right now
It's not a Ticket / Impressario event, nor is it tied to any content, but basically it's a double harvest double XP buff.

"Now live and running until Thursday, May 20 at 10AM EDT, the limited-time Explorer’s Celebration brings additional rewards for the following in-game activities:

• Increased yield from harvest nodes (not fishing!)
• Double XP gains from every source
  This stacks with other XP boosts such as scrolls or group multipliers
• Double gold earned from monster kills, quest rewards, and similar sources

These bonuses are available to all players in any zone in Tamriel. If you’re leveling up a character for the upcoming Blackwood Chapter, be sure to make the most out of this mini-event!

Note that the Explorer’s Celebration doesn’t grant Event Tickets and doesn’t have its own unique quests, Achievements, or collectibles associated with it. Additionally, the Impresario isn’t available during this limited period."

Looks like they actually are doing the Explorer's event and dropping it 6 months earlier than it ran last year. So yay double XP.

Probably saw MELeE top the Steam charts with Resident Evil and needed to get something out fast, despite having explicitly said the next event would be in June.

I think that comment was specifically addressing the next Fragments and Event Tickets, which still are not until the June event.
