PTS Patch Notes v7.0.3

Community Manager
The Elder Scrolls Online v7.0.3 activates a new event for testing this week, the Year One Celebration. We also have many fixes for Companions and Rockgrove Trial, including disabling Hard Modes for the first two bosses to aid in testing the final boss more thoroughly. Also included are several fixes affecting combat along with a few additional adjustments. We appreciate everyone’s feedback and bug reports thus far! Please remember if you come across a bug you’d like to report, we prefer you use /bug in-game and include any relevant details or steps to reproduce the issue. The size of this patch is approximately 895MB.

    • General
      • Bastian and Mirri's introduction quest will now be automatically granted if the collectible is already owned, when activated on a character who has not completed the associated quest.
      • The audio cue of gear being equipped/unquipped will no longer occur when summoning and dismissing Companions.
      • Fixed an issue causing Companions to fail to summon when zoning while mounted.
      • Fixed an issue where mounted Companions could not keep up your character after reaching a certain mount speed threshold.
    • Animation
      • Adjusted various animations for Companions while in conversation.
      • Fixed an issue that could cause a visual flicker when interacting with Companions with staves equipped.
      • Fixed an issue where mounted Companions would sometimes clip through stairs.
      • Mirri has taken on a much more personal default posture, instead of imitating Bastian at times.
      • The houseguest version of Mirri will now correctly animate when speaking.
    • Behavior
      • Bastian now has something positive to say about Eyevea, Artaeum and Psijic Portals.
      • Bastian now responds positively to various base game scripted encounters.
      • Bastian will no longer proclaim his thoughts about recently unlocked skill lines upon entering the world.
      • Bastian and Mirri will no longer have a chance to call out about being close to dying after being resurrected.
      • Bastian will now correctly be unable to be summoned for a time if he gets angry enough to leave due to negative rapport adjustments while at a very low rapport tier.
      • Reduced the frequency of your Companion’s idle chatter.
      • Corrected Companion responses to a specific achievement being unlocked which provide their associated keepsakes.
      • Mirri will now correctly occasionally comment when using a mount.
      • Fixed issue where Mirri would give non-applicable responses near some NPC navigators, and removed negative rapport adjustment from approaching boatswain navigators.
      • Adjusted a number of response frequencies from Companions.
      • Bastian will now occasionally recognize the Leyawiin mages guild.
    • Combat & Abilities
      • Made several changes and improvements to the Companion’s Roll Dodge ability:
        • Companions will use Roll Dodge to reposition out of melee range if they are wielding a Bow, Flame Staff, Shock Staff, or Restoration Staff (but not a Frost Staff!)
        • Companions will now use Roll Dodge as an emergency maneuver when they are below 25% Health, regardless of the weapon they are wielding.
        • Roll Dodge now grants a 1-second buff that grants 100% chance to dodge incoming attacks during the roll, similar to your Roll Dodge.
        • After a Roll Dodge, Companions will now wait up to two seconds before closing back into melee range against the enemy they rolled away from.
        • Changed the animation of the Roll Dodge to better match your character’s Roll Dodge visuals.
        • Tightened up the distance of the roll to more closely match your Roll Dodge distance. Companions roll 7 meters backward when executing a Roll Dodge.
      • Arcane Nova now always applies an elemental status effect depending on your staff type.
      • Decreased the healing received bonus from Basalt Barrier to 15% from 20%.
      • Changed Bastian's default slotted abilities when he is first acquired as a Companion to Destructive Blast and Drake's Blood.
      • Changed Mirri's default slotted abilities when she is first acquired as a Companion to Piercing Arrow and Life Absorption.
      • Fixed an issue where Companions could not generate Ultimate from Frost Staff Light Attacks.
      • Fixed an issue where Companions would block the damage from an attack, but not the stun or knockback from that same attack.
      • Fixed an issue where Companions would use the Kindle and Mystic Fortress abilities incorrectly.
      • Fixed an issue where the Flexibility passive was not decreasing the cooldown of Roll Dodge.
      • Flow now increases the healing done and decreases the cooldown on Break Free.
      • Reduced the Spell and Physical Resistance granted from Mending Incantation to 7,000 from 10,000.
      • Reduced the healing from Rejuvenation by 33%.
      • Decreased the Light and Heavy Attack bonus from Searing Weapons to 15% from 20%.
      • Twilight Mantle now causes Mirri to stay in stealth for 3 seconds, down from 6 seconds.
      • Vanish now heals your Companion to full health when used.
      • Fixed an issue where the Companion Prolific trait did not increase Ultimate generation as advertised on its tooltip.
      • Companions will now more consistently engage with targets which are moving away from them.
      • Fixed an issue where the Companion equipment trait Bolstered was not being calculated or applied correctly, even when several pieces were applied.
      • Fixed an issue that could cause Companion armor to not provide the expected damage mitigation.
      • Made minor text edits to various Companion abilities for clarity.
      • Fixed an issue where the pet summoned by Spirit Mender and its morphs would not heal Companions.
      • Fixed an issue causing the Companion's Ultimate counter to always display 0.
      • The Companion Ultimate preference is now in the Combat section of Gameplay Settings in Gamepad Mode.
    • Itemization
      • Reduced the merchant sale cost of Companion one-handed weapons and shields.
      • Fixed an issue which caused all Companion gear to have a vendor value of 0.
      • Fixed an issue which prevented Companion Greatswords and Battle Axes from being sold by Weaponsmith merchants.
      • One-handed Companion weapons no longer cost as much as two-handed Companion weapons. 
    • Rapport
      • Fixed an issue that could prevent some rapport adjustments from occurring immediately after zone transitions.
    • Visuals
      • Fixed an issue that could cause the randomize option at an Outfit Station to not result in dye randomization for Companions.
      • Applying a dye to a piece of Companion gear without an Outfit style will no longer change the actual look of the gear.
      • Fixed an issue that caused Companion gear being previewed at merchants to display incorrectly.
      • Fixed an issue where dye from Outfits would not properly apply to weapons and armor without Outfit Styles.
      • Fixed an issue where only switching Companion outfits at a Dye Station would not show any equipped costumes when exiting the station.
      • Fixed an issue that allowed previewing of Companion gear on the player. 
      • Fixed an issue that could cause Companion shields to not display.
    • UI
      • Fixed an issue that could result in the Companion tab of the outfit interface becoming unresponsive.
      • Added a “new” indicator to the top-level Companion menu equipment category in Gamepad Mode.
      • Switching between Companion equipment and costumes in the Outfit interface will no longer prevent the costume from displaying properly.
      • Added messaging when attempting to utilize an Outfit Station to customize a Companion when no Companion is active.
      • Added sub-filtering to the Companion inventory when using a keyboard.
      • Fixed an issue where new icons from Companion equipment would flash. 
      • Companion gear in your inventory will no longer compare tooltip information against equipment on your character when selected.
      • Companions now have a new unique resurrect icon above them when they're dead.
      • Fixed issue that would cause Companion skill lines in Gamepad Mode to show as "new", even after you've looked at them.
      • Newly obtained Companion items now correctly display the “new” indicator in the Companion menu.
      • The Companion skills screen will now indicate when a skill line or an ability slot has recently been unlocked.
      • Fixed a rare issue that could result in the Companion skill bar displaying your skills.
      • Updated the disabled placeholder graphic and missing gamepad icons in the Outfit Station interface.
      • Made minor text edits to Mirri's Non-Combat Perk tooltip.
      • Updated help entries and loading screens to explain Companion and combat pet command behavior.

    • All crafting writs within Leyawiin will now point you to the correct turn-in location.

    Rockgrove Trial
    • General
      • In order to ensure the Hard Mode for Xalvakka is properly tested, we have temporarily removed the ability to activate the Hard Modes for Oaxiltso and Flame-Herald Bahsei. This should provide an easier path for groups that wish to test the final boss.
        • We will be reinstating the Hard Modes for the first two bosses and the restrictions in next week’s final PTS patch.
      • Fixed an issue with certain visual effects not displaying. This issue would occur after spending a certain amount of time inside the Rockgrove instance.
      • Havocrel Barbarians will no longer stand idle after leaping to one player character during Hasted Assault.
      • The Havocrel Barbarian’s Rending Slash ability now correctly applies the Bleeding Damage over Time effect.
      • The Havocrel Barbarian’s Serrated Strike ability is now correctly classified as Physical damage.
      • The Ca-Uxith Sacrifices in the Xanmeer Corridors will no longer appear to float in the air when dead.
      • Improved graphical performance of the geysers throughout the trial.
    • Oaxiltso
      • Havocrel Annihilators will now always appear when summoned.
      • Havocrel Annihilators now correctly wield their weapons when summoned into the fight.
    • Xalvakka
      • Lava in the Xalvakka fight now damages Companions.
      • Flame Atronachs no longer have a chance to stand in awe of their enemies and will instead always try to kill them.
      • The Volatile Shell phase will now always end when the correct shell is destroyed.
      • Volatile Shell will no longer prompt you with the combat cue to “interrupt enemy casters”.
      • Visual effects which indicate a “fake” volatile shell are now more responsive.
      • The Iron Atronach’s Blast Furnace ability no longer leaves Area of Effects behind to damage your character after each explosion.
      • Telegraphs for Scathing Eviscerate, Deadstar and Deadstar Firmament will now always show correctly and last throughout the duration of the ability.
      • Deadstars now land closer to their intended target.
      • You can no longer stand on the chains at the top of Xalvakka’s tower.

    • Added a number of books to the overland that were previously quest specific.
    • Adjusted the number of some types of Fishing resource nodes that are active at one time, to be consistent with other zones. 
    • Fixed an issue where Blackwood contraband was being fenced for too much gold. 
    • Adjusted the loot on Oblivion Portal bosses. 
    • Adjusted the armor type of the Decayed Shadowscale Tunic, a Quest Reward item, to be Medium armor. 

    • Adjusted the final location for the Lost in the Wilds achievement.
    • Fixed an issue with the "Room for Two" achievement, which was previously completing when placing any Houseguest, to now only complete when you place a Companion Houseguest. 

    • The gate to the Adytum in Zenithar’s Abbey is no longer silent.

    • The Replica Zenithar Adytum Gate furnishing is no longer silent.
    • Fixed an issue where the “Xi-Tsei Stone Idol” achievement furnishing would flicker slightly when panning around it with your camera.
    • Updated the “Leyawiin Cabinet, Formal” to be “Leyawiin Wardrobe, Formal”, to better match its visuals.  The prior “Leyawiin Wardrobe, Formal” is now “Leyawiin Armoire, Formal”.
    • Improved the center point of the following furnishings:
      • Leyawiin Amphora, Elegant
      • Leyawiin Carpet, Misty Octad
      • Leyawiin Carpet, Large Carmine Octad
      • Leyawiin Corncobs, Triple
      • Leyawiin Counter, Long
      • Leyawiin Divider, Octopus
      • Leyawiin Tapestry, Floral

    • Updated the descriptions for the following furnishings to better match their size:

    • Pantherfang Chapel now has its expected maps.
    • Updated the ambient audio for the chapel interior in Pantherfang Chapel.
    • Fixed an issue that allowed it to rain inside the chapel interior in Pantherfang Chapel.
    • Sealed a small gap in the water in Pantherfang Chapel.

    • Added four additional Wayshrines to the zone of Blackwood.
    • Fixed several timing issues related to audio and voice over within quests.
    • Fixed an issue where several audio cues were doubling up during quests.
    • Fixed and updated a number of maps throughout the zone.
    • Britta will no longer offer a new daily quest every time you speak to her.
    • Blocked off a door that you could enter in Welke while not on the appropriate quest, which could cause you to get stuck with no way out.
    • Updated the Ayleid Wells in the zone so multiple people can now use them at the same time.

    • You can now fast travel to groups and friends in Arpenia and Vunalk.

    • A Battle of Silk and Flame: Khud af-Hadajja no longer has a floating rear end and has been properly grounded. Yes, this was a thing.
    • A Mother’s Obsession: Fixed an issue where you could not advance past the quest step “Go to the Inner Sea Armature”.
    • A Mysterious Event:
      • Fixed an issue that was preventing Eveli from entering combat.
      • Fixed an issue where Eveli would despawn if your character died.
    • An Abundance of Stibbons: Added a visual indicator where Stibbons can be placed to be within reach of the vine-tongues.
    • An Unexpected Adversary: Fixed an issue where dying inside of Welke ruins could cause you to lose your follower.
    • Competition and Contracts:
      • Fixed an issue where the final boss wouldn’t spawn if you ran by the area too quickly.
      • You can no longer break the Crystal Fangs earlier than intended.
    • Destroying What Remains: Adjusted a number of interacts so they won’t have a chance of spawning inside fixtures and forcing a reload.
    • Giving Up the Ghost: Fixed an issue where Revus could get stuck in combat, preventing you from dislodging Varla Stones and resulting in blocking the quest.
    • Haunted Legacy: The chest needed to advance this quest will now properly spawn in.
    • Idol Threats: Fixed an issue where destroying the stone idols wasn’t removing their collision.
    • Making a Reacket: Fixed an issue where the boss would sometimes not spawn at the end of the quest.
    • The Ghostwriter of Giovesse:
      • Fixed an issue where dying during one of the spirit lamp scenes could block the quest.
      • Fixed an issue where leaving the last area of the quest before the scene finished could block the quest.
      • Adjusted a number of interacts so they won’t have a chance of spawning inside of fixtures, forcing a reload.
    • Weapons of Destruction:
      • Fixed an issue where dying on a certain step would prevent you from using doors to advance the quest.
      • Fixed an issue where running away from Eveli before speaking to her could potentially block the quest.

    • Fixed an issue where standing in a certain spot during the Shayazzel the Traveler fight would cause her to despawn.
    • Fixed an issue where Shyazzel would not respawn.
    • Added a significant number of arms and armor within the Isle of Balfiera.
    • Fixed an issue where Destruction Staves picked up in the Balfiera Ruins would operate as if they were Restoration Staves.

    Kyne’s Aegis Trial
    • Half-Giants will no longer remove player ability effects while in combat. This includes taunts applied by ranged taunting abilities.

    • Fixed an issue where Antiquity Leads could drop during the new tutorial. 
    • Updated the icon used for the Z'en Idol antiquity. 
    • Fixed an issue where bonus loot excavated from Antiquity dig sites in Blackwood would drop at an incorrect (trash) quality. 
    • Adjusted the boundaries of some Blackwood Antiquity dig sites to better match the terrain. 
    • The Kothringi Tidal Canoe is now properly Gold in the Antiquity Codex, matching its item quality. 
    • Adjusted the icons for the Death-Dealers Fete Antiquity fragments. 
    • Adjusted the difficulty of several Ancestral Akaviri motif Antiquities.

    • Fixed an issue where the following Damage over Time abilities were being calculated as damage done bonuses rather than base ability effectiveness per stack, fixing an issue where their stacked damage was much lower than intended:
      • Arms of Relequen (normal and perfected)
      • Cutting Dive
    • Fixed an issue where many Champion Points were still counting towards the effect limit, making it easier to experience wildly erratic behaviors with effects not working.
    • Fixed an issue where some effects on passives or item sets could be lost after rezoning or logging off.
    • Non-combat pets owned by other players will now be temporarily hidden when engaged with a Dark Anchor, Abyssal Geyser, Harrowstorm, and when fighting Dragons or Group Bosses.

    • Dual Wield
      • Blade Cloak: Increased the damage done by this ability and its morphs by approximately 25% to better reward its requirement to stay stacked on your foe, as well as to help offset the loss of effectiveness on proccing enchants and sets with the changes to Deadly Cloak.
    • Two Handed
      • Critical Charge
        • Stampede (morph): Increased the damage done by the initial hit of this ability by 25%, and the damage of the Damage over Time effect by approximately 127%. Overall, this will result in approximately 86% more damage, which was done to help offset the changes to Merciless Charge, as well as to help Two Handed stick out better as a viable back bar option.
    Developer Comment:
    With both Dual Wield and Two Hander, we decided to improve on these abilities to help these weapon types stay more relevant as back bar options for builds, to help diversity outside of the normal Bow backbar option we see. Since Stampede is a morph that enhances the ability into an AoE, the initial hit should follow our AoE standard while the DoT can be made stronger as it’s a new function that was meant to help the ability stick out, similar to the power we put into Twisting Path or Winter’s Revenge. Blade Cloak received an adjustment since its original standards associated it with stationary and long ranged AoE DoTs, while the ability is actually mobile and melee ranged, so it should be rewarded more compared to others.

    • Fixed an issue where the following sets were not properly updated from the adjustments in PTS patch 7.0.2, as called out in last weeks “Known Issues” section:
      • Aegis Caller
      • Nightflame
      • Stone Husk
      • Unleased Terror
    • Updated the visual effects to be less “noisy” for the following sets:
      • Draugr’s Rest
      • Hiti’s Hearth
      • Hollowfang Thirst
      • Kinra’s Wrath
    • Artaeum Pickled Fish Bowl: Fixed an issue where this food buff was stronger than it’s blue food counterpart. The main focus of this food was meant to be its bonuses for Fishing, rather than combat effectiveness. The new values are max level are now 5414 Max Health and 4938 Max Magicka.

    • Master Writ quests will now have quest markers for Crafting Stations in houses, both in the world and on the compass (though not on the map for the house). 
    • Fixed a lingering issue where not all quest arrows would point to in-world Set Crafting stations for Master Writs. 
    • Fixed an issue where dyeing a weapon without an Outfit Style applied to it would cause the weapon to disappear. 

    • Fixed an issue that could cause empty Crown Store categories to appear.

    • Fixed an issue where you couldn't buy the Smoke-Wreathed Griffon Feather if you owned the Deadlands Scorcher skin, and received the wrong error message.

    Midyear Mayhem
    • This event now has a new tile image on the character select screen and the announcement banner.

    Pan-Elsweyr Celebration
    • Fixed an issue where the intro quest could not be shared to get extra boxes after the respective holiday ends. They are now still sharable, but their reward boxes will only be granted while the respective event is active.

    • Added icons for Seals of Endeavor and the Endeavors section of the Help menu.
    • The Big Ozur and Kvatch Arena Group Bosses can now be defeated for Endeavor credit.
    • Fixed an issue that caused Endeavors requiring you to use Mementos a certain number of times to not increment properly. 

    • Adjusted the editor categorization of the “Imperial Shrine of the Bay” furnishing to better match similar furnishings. It can now be found under “Lights, Braziers” rather than “Undercroft, Sacred Pieces”.
    • Adjusted the center point of the “Markarth Wall, Windowed Stone” furnishing to be easier to work with.
