what is the reasoning behind binding all dungeon gear?

Bound dungeon gear seems totally normal MMO behavior to me. It's how most of the games I've played have worked. The ones that had unbound Hard Content gear, generally either 1) catered entirely to the Pro Traders (who controlled everything), 2) had an utterly screwed economy, or 3) both.

i get what you mean but what I don't understand is what is so wrong with the option to UNBIND it? We always think in black and white. I.E, "Either make all the dungeon sets bound, or make them all unbound." How about a little bit of middle ground? If a player can unbind gear at an expensive cost (transmute stones, for example), then what you have left is still an economy where the vast majority of dungeon gear is still bound, but players have been given a choice, its not cheap nor easy to unbind your gear, but at least it is possible....and this gives us more choice, which in the end is what we (well at least for me) really like.

It's so you actually have to do the content to get the gear, instead of just buying it from someone.

    It's not complicated.

Both of these responses sum things up very well. I have found there is a large amount of gear that is BoE so I expect Zos balances this out with the BoP dungeon gear. I assume trial gear is BoP as well.

In addition to doing a good job of forcing people to do dungeons, it also does a good job of ensuring the harder dungeons aren't gate kept. Which sometimes becomes a problem in games when they allow items to be traded.

The real reason...it makes their dungeon usage internal metrics look better, thus justifying sustaining the approach.
    It's Mundumental!
