Zero interest. I play an MMO to be social, and dont need to be carried by an NPC doing 10k DPS. LOL

Sometimes. I will use them occasionally, while Questing, doing Overland content, fill missing player slots for Dungeons etc.
Can we share the companions between each of our characters, or do we have to re-grind-level the companion for each of our characters we want to use them with?

The companion level, skills, and gear are the same across all Alts. The rapport will be different.

If a character re-gears a companion, this is picked up by all other characters on the account.

If a character is holding unequipped gear of a companion, none of the other characters have access to that gear.

So, if you re-gear, make sure you store that gear in the bank (assuming this is possible) or re-gear them before you log out. Otherwise, you will be logging back into that character just to re-gear so that you can play on another character.

    1. Will Companions have a mount to ride when I decide to ride my mount?
    2. Will they need riding lessons?

    1. Yes.
    2. No.

As they stand now, there is literally nothing to worry about in that regard. Think a quest tag along you can play dress up with.

I’m in a “sometimes “ group. They stuck really bad from my testing. My play style is such that I like to sneak between encounters avoiding trivial combat and just fighting where I need to. I found that companions will aggro mobs I snuck past and avoided. So if I use them for any reason it will be very rarely.

Alas, no... but I tried one of them out on PTS, and I let HIM to all the actual work... and he's not that far behind me in his damage output. He's squishier... but if I keep him healed, I don't need to do any damage at all.

Their ridiculously low health means they die way too easily. Originally wanted to use them to help solo vet dungeons.

I guess it just depends on what I have out atm. Banker or companion. The companions normally die, but they add a bit of dps/heals before napping. Probably won't bother to revive them.

Sad how they are compared to a banker/merchant. At least Ezabi is cute and can bank.

I recently created my first tank in the game (1520cp) after years of playing eso and I realised a couple of things : 1) tanks are a bit slow in overland content due to low damage setup, 2) a big part of the playerbase deals very low damage. So, yes I will use companions in some occasions.

with how bad the community is, as well as 90% of my friends stopped playing long ago, i will be frequently using them. My Characters can do well enough on their own but lack that face melting capability, so it will be just a little extra oomph for when i solo or play with the one guildmate that occasionally pops in.

if I may ask... which content did you try him on and do you play a tank or quest in full healing spec?? did you try maxed out companion in purple gear on a template character or companion still leveling? because I'm certainly far from what forums would consider a good player and I found companions to not be helpful at all with anything outside of random overworld mobs (though to be honest even when maxed out in purple gear, they kinda both sucked when I tried to use them with a world boss - something that they were specifically advertised to be helpful with).

I'm also not sure how they will exacerbate power creep, when they cannot be used in pvp, cannot be used in solo arenas and when used in group content - replace a player in dungeons or trials. so you can have 4 players, or 3 players and companion, or 2 players and 2 companions but you cannot have 4 players and 4 companions in a dungeon.

I plan to use them to solo normal dungeons for armor sets I'm interested in.

I can do most of them solo, but they are annoyingly difficult, and fights progress at a snail's pace. Having a healer or tank would be a great help, even if they aren't as effective.

It also means I don't have to rope in my friends or guildmates into helping me all the time, for something that they won't benefit from.

@Marto they are mostly dead. you either have to give up a skill slot or two for heal or taunt. depending on companion being heal or tank.

anything I tried I already can solo. they actually slowed me down. anything I cant already solo they made me fail more miserably.

could try basti with no weapon. no dmg skills. no heal skills (so I dont have to use taunt and waste a skill slot and resources) and use his 20% la/ha dmg buff and shield synergy on heavy attack build. but eu chars just got copied onto pts and I assume my already setup companion testers got nuked. they are so bad can't even be bothered to set a new max template up again for companion testing....

even if that works, ain't worth price of a chapter... or the inventory nightmare and grind their gear creates.

At the current point in time they are not useful.

They take alot of time to be leveled and geared up. Problems are especially the guild skilllines, which are gated by daylies and the gear that randomly drops and is not upgrade or modifyable. It could easily take weeks or even months just to fully build up a compagnion.

The damage or healing/tanking performance they deliver is way to low for that level of efford. They either have to dump down the efford alot or make them more powerful.

Personally i dont realy know where they want to go with this feature. Originally i expected it to work as some sort of supplement to give players access to things tehy dont have. For example iam a Tank. For overland/Questing i have to get DD gear and a DD build otherwise iam not getting anywhere. I expected Compagnions to be powerful enought to add the DPS iam missing so i can stay in tank gear and still be able to do everything. In the current situation however mainatining the gear/skills for DD is much easier and cheaper.

yeah, its what they are advertised for. its part of what I wanted to use them for. they don't actualy work for it though, not in their current state. i literally found it easier to solo a world boss then to try doing them with companions. and I can only solo a few world bosses.

They aren't, but they could be. I don't expect them to be smart. I don't expect them to enable me to play at veteran level. I want NPCs who can make group dungeons easier or in certain cases, playable. Ideally, I'd like the same for world bosses and world events, especially in chapters and DLCs, but that could make those fights less accessible if there's a whole crowd of players AND companions.

As they are, they're more difficult to keep alive than clannfears.
