You've completed 2 entire sets and like 96% of a third. That makes perfect sense given how RNG works. If you had two complete and another at like 50% you'd have a point.

Try COA2. I went years without getting one in COA1. Tried to get the monster mask style page a while back in 2 and got like 4 of them. I think it's probably a higher drop rate in 2 because they don't want you to get it COA1

I'm the same place with the lighting staff but have 2 inferno staffs. I really want the lightning staff instead. It's like it knowssss

No, we can't really say anything without know how many of each set piece OP has, and also what their weapon drop rate looks like, since that's restricted to the final boss and treasure chests (not gonna count the very rare drops from mobs).

Each of the three sets has 13 possible weapons + neck/ring (which I think can drop instead of a weapon from final bosses). That's 45 potential drops from bosses. Chests can, I think, drop any set pieces, so I think that take it up to 66 potential piece from chests that drop set pieces.

With that high of a number of potential drops from various sources, I think that 152 is still too small of a sample size to really say much, but we can't say anything about RNG just based on how much of the set they've completed.

All of the aside, I am almost 100% certain that drops are weighted in favor of the non-meta set pieces. MMOs are designed to be as addictive as possible, and the grind factor is certainly part of that (to a point).

I've run CoA hundreds of times at this point. I've seen the BSW inferno staff drop twice. Not for me -I've never had it drop- but just... twice.

Meanwhile, in the land of Sunderflame inferno staves.... I'm set. All of my characters would be set if I'd have kept them.

Today I got my 71st out of 72 sticker book items from Direfrost Keep and I also got the 2nd Mythic lead. The Ice Furnace Lightning staff that I came there for in the first place has not shown itself once to neither me or any of my teammates in any of our runs. I don't even want to ask friends to join my farm runs for it anymore because it is so sad, but the dungeon can't be soloed so it can't be helped.

They really need to add some alternative method to obtain these weapons more easily. It's bad enough only the last boss and chests drop weapons, the RNG also sucks!

I’ve seen 6 lightning stages of Medusa.
4 frost staves of medusa
3 inferno undaunted infiltrator
5 lamia inferno

++ many many many many more duplicates.

All in all I’ve probably completed lamia and undaunted twice, close to 3 times.

I also completed both lamia and undaunted in about 75 runs

Been here since beta, finally got BSW inferno about a month ago. Weapon drop rates are ridiculous. It's a pain trying to put 2 dropped sets together for some variety cause you're always missing weapons.

Don't give up and never ignore chests.

I got my medusa inferno after like a half year of searching, and it was from a chest. I've seen 3-4 inferno drops so far and only 1 of them were from last boss, rest were all from chests.

Just concerned for you, not trying to sound bad. I had a couple of friends who'd grind stuff endlessly till they got everything. Then they looked back and realized they didn't even know what made them do it. So....

Just run through invis and pop all the chests up to the first locked door, rinse and repeat. It still takes a ton of runs, but you can make the runs in 1-2 minutes instead of having to complete the entire dungeon each time. Took me about about 150 runs, took my wife about 40 with both of us doing the chests, so 80ish runs for her... she is always lucky though!

Too bad you never partied with me, in 4 days I gave away 6 of them when I was grinding random dungeons to level skills...

You'll get it eventually, but really...it's not worth it to grind any dungeon hard for a piece of gear.

Trust me, I have grind some dungeons over 300x and seen no pieces of gear drop. One over 400x to get a staff that got nerfed 3 months later.

Don't lose your sanity for the META; not worth it today, nor tommorrow. Remember that games are supposed to be FUN or at least a bearable voluntary occupation of your time.

My advice is to always run on Vet. I got my Inferno Staff off a Chest when soloing the vet run.
You need the CP trait in the green tree that give 100% chance of loot.

The Medusa inferno staff was the last item I needed to complete that set. I did countless runs and found it eventually in a chest on normal solo.
The advantage of that dungeon is that you can easily solo it and in my experience there are always between 3 and 5 chest available on every run; after a while you know all the spawn places.

I got mine from trash mobs of all things; only noticed because it 'dinged' as collected as I mopped up the loot.

I too ended up with an almost full sticker book, only the maul for Medusa left to collect from that dungeon... Needless to say it ain't gonna happen any time soon.

I had medusa inferno staff in my collection from a random normal,I didn't look for it but thats with all,when you don't look for it you find it.
After a lot of MA runs,still no lightning staff.Got all other weapons but lightning staff? What is that?

Medusa is actually one of the easier ones as Arx is a four chest dungeon which means you've got more chances to find it, especially with treasure hunter. It's always best to farm these things in groups though - with four of you the chances of you landing a piece one of the four needs is much higher than four solo runs and much faster.

I would still just chill and not worry - if things are as they stand U30 has proc cyrodiil with scaling and the meta just changed anyway 8)

Dude this sounds like my farm for frozen watcher ice staff. It was the last one I needed for sticker book too, after spending there long, long, long while.

You know what would be really good and has totally not been asked by players for years now? A token system so people who get *** over by RNG can feel that they are actually working towards their goal even if they dont get the item they need.

And at least the content you are grinding is a 4 man dungeon that can be done in 10 mins with plenty of chests, try farming maelstrom arena with its 6 sets and only one weapon drop per run, even on normal it still takes a good 20 min because of the loading screens and all the stupid and unnecessary pauses between each wave, to this day I'm still looking for a winterborn or elemental succession inferno staff.
ZOS are really good at making people play content until they hate it.

That's just stupid at this point, RNG is so ridiculous... It took me almost 70 runs of blackdrake villa for my kinras dagger. Still, no match for 152... so I hope you will drop it soon. Farming gear sucks the joy out of everything.

As a tank I ran into some players farming this dungeon in the most non-successfull way!! They run past everything, skip everything, focus only on chests, which they mostly miss... and then complain they could not get an item. I got quite a few players doing that, and besides the runs actually taking much longer, they also miss out on over half the items and experience from the place. While at the same time annoying everyone else in the process. Please, please don't run dungeons that way if you are farming something, just solo them then. (I'm not saying the OP does it this way)

For those farming: I really hope those that want to find something, find it!

I'm also suspecting ZOS massively lowered the droprate on some items, to compensate for the stickerbook being present. As now you only have to find an item once, to forever have access to it.

PS: If you do farm dungeons while annoying your teammates, the chances are high they won't give you the item you were looking for.

There should be coding in the game to ensure you don't drop duplicates until your sticker book is full. There were able to do that in other areas in-game. It makes zero sense to force this kind of unproductive grind.

I have to be honest, these stories keep me away from BIS builds. I simply cannot be bothered with this level of crappy coding. I find running some of these dungeons once to be a drag. Running them tens or even hundreds of times? You must be kidding.
