CP nerf - why ZOS?

Really... I thought we were getting the same stats but easier... however all you did was cutting them in half in like, everything.

Why is that? Those stats were not even that big, yet you cut it in half?

    Dude what? You are getting the same, but easier. You need less CPs to get the same as on LIVE. So its easier to obtain them.

    Hero's Vigor was 1120 Health for 40 points... I thought there were giving us 1120 Health for 20 points. Instead they cut it in half as well. Same goes for magicka and stamina perks.

    This is false. You a will max out the red and blue non-slotted passives more easily in Blackwood BUT the benefits for most of these stars has been cut in half.

    I agree with the OP this change just feels bad. Other than having 4 slottables there’s little point to this new CP system.

    People complained that they felt they needed to grind cp. so zos did us the “favor” of us not needing to grind as many by making a lot of them less powerful. ./sigh

    There was a a lot of people not liking the green tree, but they left that alone. So they are very selective in their “favors”..

    The whole proposed change idea needs to be scrapped...plainand simple....

    nerfing the amount of points needed for nerfed stars is just plain ***. I read Zenimax's post about attempting to ensure players can achieve desired builds earlier, BUT can't they just invest half the amount of points for half the result NOW? Why gimp the system for those that enjoy grinding and getting more powerful? We invest hundreds of hours in this game, and the quest for more power IS the drive that keeps this going.

    The worst by far is the nerf to the Crit chance star. They already gutted the Crit chance system with U29, and now they are pummeling it further? No good.

    It really seems like ZOS either has no idea what they are doing or has a vendetta against the larger portion of veteran players.

    PC-NA since 2015. Tired and unimpressed.

    They will change it again once they see people just putting the minimum points in to move to the next level and lots of unallocated CP from people not bothering.

    I'd argue the worst nerf is the Penetration nerf, since they already nerfed penetration from 5300 -> 1400 with the change from cp 1 to cp 2, making it so stamina builds HAVE to slot maces and usually sharpened just to hit the pen requirement for end game content, and even then, they barely have the requirement. Going from 1400 -> 700 means that even this isn't enough, and now most if not all stam builds will need to run Spriggan's just to meet the requirement, which pigeonholes stam builds into very similar builds. But magicka builds? Nah they're fine, you can build what you want.

    The system seems like it was designed without taking into consideration the needs of certain classes when it comes to the content in the game, because ZoS thinks we players are kind enough to let sub-optimal builds run end game content, when in fact most people aren't that kind, and won't let people that don't meet basic requirements into their trial groups, for example. Nor will they allow the sub-optimal DPS build that meets the requirements when they could just pick the magicka build that meets the requirements but also does 20k more dps because they could build what they wanted and weren't forced to make a decision based on a change they didn't make.

    As it is right now i am very upset over how things are changed. It makes no sense at all. If there is something coming down the line to buff us sure fine but why even go this route before that is in place?

    I am starting to wonder if the devs even play this game? All players love big numbers, its what we strive for. Not constantly nerf us every patch....

    Because its a *** patch. We jubblee because we got 1 good patch so we are on the cycle again for 6 *** patches. This is N1 so even the passive of CP have to be nerfed. We just have been given the new CP system. People happy we get some from ZOS so now ZOS takes it away. Its brain - toon deaf developing with the motto we listeded (insert here opposite of what was said) and we are taking action. Its stupidity.

    yeah it's called Companions. They must be figuring we need to be weaker to make up for the extra damage from Companions.

    The benefits of stars in CP 2.0 was already much less than 1.0. Cutting these benefits in half again makes the entire CP system virtually worthless.

    I honestly don't understand WHAT they are thinking at this point. It sounds like a "ruined your canoe" scenario.

    Indeed. It will be fun to see what the honey trap will be for the next DLC, which they then will nerf beyond uselessness after they've cashed in. ^^b

    I hate this CP nerf. It seems completely pointless and way over the top to nerf almost EVERYTHING by 50%, especially as we have only just got used to the new CP system in last patch. Seems unnecessarily drastic

    "Why?" has been the outstanding, unanswered question to this dev team for a couple years now. They seem to have a curious concept of "balance" based on pure mathematics and inversely proportional to entertainment value.

    There is no DPS balance here, crit or go home.
    The new proc meta may shift that, but now it will just be crit or use these 2-3 proc sets together only.

    EDIT: I feel like my response is unwarranted. I get they are trying to balance the game, just have questions to how they perceive approaching it and whether or not they truly have a team making these decisions - or if it's just salaried people with good ideas that leadership says, "Lets give it a try.."

    I agree entirely. ZOS really just hates the idea of Stam builds being viable in end-game content apparently.

    I was just getting used to the new CP and starting to like it (except for the messed up green tree), and they respond by cutting the CP benefits in half. SO sick of ZOS making these massive changes all the time. Don’t they test anything before dropping it??
