Inferno Vs Lightning staff - Quick question

If i have my backbar which is a lightning stave ... and my backbar has aoe abilities such as wall of elements , necrotib orb , liquid lightning ... then when casting those abilities —-> i should get 8% more damage thanks to the passive of a lightning staff

What happens the moment i have casted my aoe abilities but switch back to the frontbar (infernostaff) . Does then the damage drop again with 8 %?

If the 8 % drops back the moment you switch to front inferno staff.... would it then be asvisable to just stick to staff of the same type on both bars (for instance shock/ shock or inferno/inferno staff )?

Just tested it. As soon as you swap bars the bonus to AOE damage goes away, even for abilities you already cast. Ticks from Wall of Elements or Lightning Flood go down as soon as you swap bars.

I believe the bonus comes from the bar the skill was cast on and stays with the skill, even after you switch to your other bar. Would be happy for someone to correct me if I'm wrong.

When it comes to some things this is true, like glyphs. If you lay down a weapon skill DoT on your backbar and then switch to your front bar, if that DoT triggers your weapon glyph it will be the glyph from which the skill was fired.

But for the 8% damage bonus it is actually applied by whatever staff you are currently holding. This means the damage will change as you switch bars back and forth.

The training dummies need to be placed in a home to be used.

As was mentioned earlier if you are in a guild there is a good chance a guild mate has at least one dummy. You can port to their home by going to the guild roster (this is for PC) right clicking then chose visit primary residence.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

With ice staff you must be actually holding an ice staff (not backbar) when chilled procs in order for the Minor Brittle effect to happen. I would expect it is the same for other abilities.

Although, with the performance tweaks they have been making, it would be worth testing. All you would have to do is drop Wall of Elements, jot down the values for ticks and crits on a target dummy, then swap bars and see if the numbers go down. Keep in mind you need to have an equal power (blue, purple, gold) staff on the other bar for the test to be accurate. Also, one can't be Nirnhoned and the other not!

I would normally say that it would stop buffing AOE when you swap, but since this would require a calculation on each tick of each AOE ability, it is possible they made it one invisible passive buff that is only active when actually holding a shock staff.

Without buying one, you can get the Precursor for free by gathering the dwarven parts across Tamriel (dwemer delves/areas) and in the Clockwork City. Not great for dps testing, but would be enough to test things like this.

Easiest is to buy it with Crowns, but you can also get them using the tickets you get from doing Master Writs. If you are not into crafting though, that's not really a quick solution.

If you have access to the PTS, you can temporarily get almost everything for free.

Higher-end guilds also tend to have guild houses with training dummies.

And some dummies can simply be bought at public guild traders.

Oh really ? I know guild traders and the public ones . Is it just called dummie ?

And what once you have one ? Where do you train then ? Can you just summon it ingame ?
