Well, there's been something of a progression in a negative direction.
A couple years ago I reached a limit of disgust with this game's bad monetization and stopped buying crown packs.
Last year I regretted having a subscription and let it expire when it rolled over this year, again, mostly because of disgust with this game's bad monetization that has continued to get worse.
So this year, I said, I may or may not get the chapter. Didn't pre-order for the first time since that's been a thing, in part because I'ms till sick of this game's bad monetization that keeps getting worse and also because ZoS just doesn't have a good track record on their chapter features outside of classes. Wait for PTS and see. Some aspects look interesting in the companions system, but I can give it a pass. Especially because of two other things they're going to be doing. One - changes to combat mechanics that manage to ruffle even my feathers somehow. Two - their new skinner box called "endeavors" that is directly tied to the game's gambling system and I've got near zero faith this'll be designed in a way that isn't exploitative given gambling systems are inherently exploitative especially in a poorly regulated environment. I want no part of it, and there's no opt-out, so... that means a possibility of quitting the game entirely. There are worse things than quitting a game with high addiction risk that is also intensively monetized. I granted ESO sole exception to boycotting games with bad monetization, and it going back on the boycott list is very well deserved at this point, unfortunately.
To anyone who sticks around - monitor your gameplay, check your hours, don't grind the skinner boxes. Play what you enjoy , but play in moderation only. Don't fall into the addiction trap and don't open that door to overspending. GaaS like MMOs are notorious for cultivating these kinds of problems in people's lives. Often you only realize how bad it was in hindsight and its easier said than done to avoid the trap. And there's not anywhere near enough awareness about this problem.

I won't be buying any content drops this year.
edit: Playable Goblin race or a pvp update will open.

Companions die to the most basic of trash mobs and offer little to nothing.
The oblivion gates are actually tiny little bubbles about the size of your player with 2 guards outside of it, that a lvl 3 templar with a lightning staff and training pants can clear on their own.
And then there's the across the board nerfing.. every CP tree pretty much has 500~750 or so left over CP in it that does nothing for you but unlock optional junk you 'might' want to end up slotting at some point for some reason.
Plus the sets have been trashed once again hitting the middle tier players worse than the high tier.
So.. yep not looking forward to Murkmire 2.0 at all.
Here ya go, the bid bad oblivion portal of doom. vvv

You know you can enter those portals, right?
Speaking of PTS, I wanted to see the content before deciding whether I want to buy this chapter or not.
Just finished the main story on the test server.
Decided not to buy.

Already bought Blackwood.
Because I am excited about the new content, new zone, new world event, and new story. Companions are a wonderful bonus.

Have the feeling there is going to be a lot that coming around.
Im pretty dumb. But not dumb enough to pay for a nerf.

The PTS version cosmetic things are still incomplete so I assumed that particular one is a placeholder asset.
That said, portals which look more like Oblivion portals (and deposit foes in some fights) IMO are bit video related.
