Necrotic Orb

I'm surprised that I've seen no threads here or on Reddit about the changes to Necrotic Orb.

What are your thoughts?

    Between the changes to Caltrops and Necrotic Orbs, we hope to see less of a disparity in performance between Stamina and Magicka DPS. We already see many Stamina-based classes pulling slightly ahead to most Magicka in single target, but are quite a bit behind in cleave areas which most of the game requires between boss encounters and elite encounters in dungeons and trials. By reducing the bonuses Necrotic Orbs has from being harder to use and improving one of the universally accessible Stamina AoE DoTs, we hope to lessen the delta between the two in regards of damage dealing.
    ZOS basically came out and said Stamina has been pulling ahead of Magicka in single target. So they decided to nerf Orbs and buff Caltrops when Stamina was already the meta in PvP. Sounds about right. When do Magicka builds get a universal AOE Major Breach debuff that deals respectable damage? Or a Minor Force skill that actually deals magical damage? Tired of slotting Elemental Drain and choosing between Channeled Acceleration or Barbed Trap.

    It's a good change that I see no problems with, no drama llama.

    The only aspect that I dislike is that it's losing the twice-per-second tick rate which was unique to it and only a handful of other skills (Sorcerer Negate was also changed in this way). I would have liked it to retain that tick rate but with a nerfed per tick value.

    When do Magicka builds get a universal AOE Major Breach debuff that deals respectable damage?

    probably when light armor stops giving massive spell penetration simply for wearing..no casts needed...

    Used healing ball, now it is nerfed :( bad.

    Sure, then make Light armor scale Spell damage, reduce the cost of Magicka skills by 15% to match their Stamina equivalents, remove all penalties to match Medium, grant Light more armor, actual defensive passives, more mobility, a better armor skill, and let Magicka be used for rolling, blocking, sprinting, and breaking free. But don't complain that Medium armor doesn't have armor penetration when it already has more of everything else and easier access to a skill that fixes that problem in the first place.

    Stamina have morr wpd on weapon and have dual weapons - that let you get penetration + one more trait.

    way to miss the point...

    aoe major breach would be wasted on mag toons as is. Well at least I never use it on my mag chars. but constantly use on my stam. simply because one absolutely needs it. the other doesnt.

    I know exactly why they nerfed necrotic orb.
    • because in a crit oriented build that utilises a Necromancer with a lot of critical damage, crit chance and more. It hit a lot harder than most AoEs currently, even more so in conjunction with Draugrkins Grip which makes affected targets take up to 617 extra damage (which is added before criticals resulting in 1234 bonus damage on most critical attacks with a crit damage multiplier of 100% in the right circumstances.), plus as it originally ticked every 0.5 seconds, the damage output became phenomenal, but now like a dog in a veterinary room, it got neutered.
    If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

    If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.
