And who's to say we won't see a time travelling Dwarf in ESO at some point?

Every MMO that introduces time travel has been a s***show of a story. It's not been done well, so I'd prefer to keep that crap out of ESO as much as possible.

They could find a lore reason to do it, but IMO they shouldn't. It's one thing to discuss the logic and consistency of the lore, but another to talk about the spirit and interest of the lore.

It would demystify the Dwemer and devalue their history too much.

This is the studio that exploited a loophole in the lore so we could have Dragons! in Elsweyr. Dragons that are strangely content to just hang around Elsweyr and not go anywhere else. Of course, that is just 5 writer-minutes to write the easy-peasy lore for that. About the same amount of time it took to justify the bridges on the Niben River.

All it will take is for some Director or Producer to start jonesing for more steam-punk in the game and we will have a Dwemer-never-went-away chapter in 18 months.

The Lore, and the limitations that come with it, are the only things that make this an interesting game. If the writers can just do whatever they want, no matter how wild and outlandish, then it just becomes a competition to see who can come up with the craziest ideas. These ideas have to escalate every Expansion/Chapter/DLC, so things just get more crazy. After a while, people start to realize that they jumped the shark so long ago that the shark died of old age.

To be fair, in past events of the battle of red mountain, the dwarves disappeared at the same time the war atop the mountain reached its potential climax, implication being that Kagrenac (knowing his own dialecture of the plans he wrote out.) was literally too smart for his own good, he may very well have counted on a dragon break happening as he knew that tampering with the Heart of Lorkhan using the tonal tools Sunder and Keening (possibly without the wraith guard in hand) inexplicably resulted in a dragon break due to the tonal interference of the tools which were affected by the divinity of the heart as tampering with some divine objects (such as the heart of lorkhan) can and may result in a dragon break at will especially when using kagrenacs tools to do so.

What is possible is before the dragon break occurred, the miter which the dwarven lord dumac bore, allowed him to call for a gathering via "the calling" in which at the same time the dragon break occurs, a contraption of unknown purpose could have been used at the exact moment the dragon break occurs to send nearly the entire dwarven race careening into an alternate plane of oblivion far beyond Tamriel and the other planes of oblivion from which they have transcended.

Two similar but far from it incidents regard the events of the gray host army when rada-al-Saran uses the dark heart in the dwarven made orrery and a few other key things to create an ideal realm far from the reaches of all princes and Tamriel in its entirety, where they would be forever immortalised.

Another involved misuse of the staff of towers. Similar in which it was of a "temporal" nature given it caused a dragon break.

And slightly different but bears merit, when the vestige ventures into Nchuthnkarst, he comes across a potential dwemer (but is not known in that regard.) who seeks help in stabilising space-time as kireth and raynor go careening through time, seeing different aspects of them including their dwarven versed variations while doing the necessary things needed to fix the machine.

The point is, we are all very close lore wise, to discovering actual living dwarves. (Not counting yagrum bagarn in 4e 201.) But as to when, we may never know.
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

A necromancer might be able to summon a Dwemer spirit. In TES III, Morrowind, there were ghostly dwemer that were sometimes present in Dwemer ruins.

Curious that in fang lair there is a necromancer complaining that she can not summon dwemer spirits

I much prefer the mystery of dwarves remain intact, personally.

Although, I am not sure we can state that they are extinct. That would require confirmation that they have all died out and are no longer in existence. Since we know that when ESO is set (2E) Yagrum Bagarn is still alive, they are, in fact, not so.

Might as well go all out and have Molag Bal as a companion. I'd 100% put him in a ball gown and lush makeup!
