Between the changes to Caltrops and Necrotic Orbs, we hope to see less of a disparity in performance between Stamina and Magicka DPS. We already see many Stamina-based classes pulling slightly ahead to most Magicka in single target, but are quite a bit behind in cleave areas which most of the game requires between boss encounters and elite encounters in dungeons and trials. By reducing the bonuses Necrotic Orbs has from being harder to use and improving one of the universally accessible Stamina AoE DoTs, we hope to lessen the delta between the two in regards of damage dealing. But then they did this: The following stars have gone down to 2 stages from 4 stages:
Blessed
Eldritch Insight
Elemental Defender
Hardy
Piercing
Precision
So Stam characters who were already way behind Mag now are going to have to gear for penetration, and are going to be even less wanted in end game content. Am I reading this wrong or did they just make it so Stam is only good for PvP?

    another issue with magicka domination is you can put zens, MK, EC, MA, ect on a mag dps with little issues. the only real set you can put on a stam toon is Powerful Assault and morag tong? maybe a couple others?

    I was about to make a thread on this as well.
    It's miserable trying to hit pen cap as it is now, on stam, when a lot of groups are mag heavy and don't run alkosh any more, let alone tremorscale.

    Yeah... decrease crit chance even further and same with pen... CP 2.0 dropped all my stam characters pen from 4k boost to less than 50% of that and now ANOTHER nerf!!?? Really ZoS you need to go the exact opposite on these two stars (Piercing and Precision) and double their current values.

    I think you might be reading it wrong. I think you should rethink your builds and look at the DOZENS of sets available in game to make do and make sure your chars perform best no matter the so called ‘nerfs’ and ‘non nerfs’.

    Yes there are many sets that can get you good pen on stamina characters, at massive damage and crit loss. Also yes I have been playing the game for 3 years now and do realize that with every patch one has a good chance at having to redo all sets, but that does not diminish my original theory that they might be completely killing Stam in end game. Right now for content pushing stam is way behind mag as it has to be in melee range or on a bow and without sacrificing crit and damage it is about 4k behind magicka builds in penetration. So the just build for pen doesn't work when you would have to sacrifice 10-20% dps to do it when stam builds are already unwanted, in end game content.

    Well first of all ‘End Game’ should exist before they can nerf Stam in ‘End Game’. Second of all there is no such thing as ‘Stam’ is not wanted in End Game content or whatever... What?! 😐 Someone is ALWAYS going to suffer from DPS loss no matter the nerfs/buffs on which side of the ‘Stam end game’ or ‘Mag end game’ [snip]

    There are no legitimate trial Hard mode pushing guilds that use Stam builds to go for trifectas. It is not cost effective/gear effective for the tanks and healers to try to make up for that 4k or so lag behind mag toons for max pen. As I said I have been playing for 3years and have vet clears in every raid and most of the dungeons (have not finished a few newer ones) on a bow/bow sorc, so I am well aware you can clear all content with almost anything they throw at you. That being said with these particular nerfs it will be even harder for stam toons to get these achievements much less the hardest trial achievements that they are not actually welcome in now. I know how to gear a character as I said bow/bow stamsorc worked damn hard to pull my weight in many trials. These changes will make it harder not easier for newer players and those of us that have stuck with it are getting pushed farther behind with the pen issue and the mag meta for trials. Telling me to "git gud" is not helpful to a legitimate concern. As for improving my build I am probably one of the few bow/bow mains in the game that can hit 75-80k with running gear and skills and 4 skill the trial dummy for 95k, so I am pretty sure my issue is NOT knowing how to work my build.
