Are companions account wide?

Or do we have to level them up to max level on multiple toons?

    they are account wide as far as leveling goes (well per regional server anyways, same as CP). you do need to do an intro quest to unlock them and your reputation with them is per character, but skills etc - is per account.

    The way that I am thinking about it is this... there is one companion for the account, same for each alt, but each alt has a different relationship with them.

    Yeah, reputation is per character, but the character itself is per account (which is a problem).

    If you spec one of them to be a dps, it appears they will be a dps on all of your toons. I was hoping to customize each one per what each of my characters need, but that won't be the case.

    So it is one companion per account? For example if you pick the dps focused companion - that will be the companion you have to use for all your toons?

    That seems unfortunate as if you have a tank toon you will needs a dps companion and if you have a dps toon, you might want a tank companion to hold aggro.

    Sigh. Looks like dps companion will be the only thing worth going then.

    there are two companions. Bastian and Mirri. you can recruit them both. that said, I didn't realize that their spec is across account as well. that... is unfortunate.

    We will find out late on Monday, for sure.

    You can re-gear them, keeping in mind that your character is the pack mule and must carry everything for the companions.

    There does not appear to be a "DPS-focused companion". There is companion gear with different traits and different skills you can give them. As long as you have the proper gear and give them the proper skills, it looked like they can do any role you want. You carry the companion gear on your character. It is not on the companion, probably for this reason. So the companion can be different things to different player characters.

    There does not appear to be a "DPS-focused companion". There is companion gear with different traits and different skills you can give them. As long as you have the proper gear and give them the proper skills, it looked like they can do any role you want. You carry the companion gear on your character. It is not on the companion, probably for this reason. So the companion can be different things to different player characters.

    Very helpful. Thank you! Looks like each companion has 3 specs. So you just have to respec the one you have.
