How does damage mitigation work on damage shields?

Hey,

havent played for 4 years, back in the day armor rating was useless on shield stacking.

Ist seems like now it works like:

%dmg-mitigation (e.g. Protection buffs); then
Flat dmg-mitigation (armor rating etc.); then
Damage shields

So is ist correct that armor rating is useful now too for shield stacking?

And could someone explain what this new stuff is with advantages and disadvantages with armors (light, medium, heavy) is? I dont find the ingame tooltip helpful.

Thanks for helping an old veteran out.

Shields treat damage and mitigation exactly the same as if it were hitting you, they changed that not long after you left by the sound of it. Much simpler

When you look at the different armour types in the skills and passives section you will notice that medium armour is basically intended to be average, middle of the road with a preference for stamina damage dealing. Light and heavy both have strengths and weaknesses but many of these can be modified or exaggerated by the champion point system.

The best I can suggest is to look up some tutorials on YouTube because the interaction can be a little complicated at first glance but is actually fairly straightforward one once you’ve used it a bit.

I’ve included some of my preferences below, just pop them in the YouTube search box with the prefix ESO

    Deltia
    Lucky Ghost
    Hack the Minotaur

So the answer on that question:

    Is yes, correct?

Everything but blocking mitigation works on your shield first then if the damage shield is depleted blocking mitigation goes into play on the remaining damage that hits you.
