@ZOS_GinaBruno My viewers noticed that they now have to watch an hour for twitch drops (see inventory page) instead of the prior 20 mins, and that it appears they only get one drop per event, regardless of watching on different days over several days.

Is this correct? If so, could you let us know?

    Hey there @StabbityDoom

This is correct, viewers will need to watch for 1 hour and claim the Ouroboros Crown Crate reward for the Jester's Festival campaign mentioned at the bottom of this page.

Information on this, including a viewer's progress within a campaign, can be found at Twitch.tv/drops

Requiring 1 hour of watching is just going to encourage people to be completely AFK in stream rather than actively watching for 15 minutes. I guess it helps the streamers' view counts, though.

it doesn't say anywhere that its only one drop for the entire event though. so it used to be we could get a drop per day, not just a single drop per event. so are you saying that this further reduction in drops is intentional? if yes, then it needs to be clarified that multiple days worth of streams will ONLY reward a single drop per event.

    thank you

P.S. if this is intentional, its not a great change.

I watched a streamer for an hour while doing some household chores, got a crate. Does it mean that tomorrow and the day after I won't get any more crates?

It's been heading that way lately, not surprised. The last drops enabled 2 day event gave 1 total. And now to increase the time watched, stinks. It's a pity it's getting less generous so soon after the community was extremely generous for charity in the last (or 2nd last) official stream.

The change to 1 per campaign from 1 per day is really disappointing. Drops don't even happen very often and now they seem lackluster instead of something to look forward to. I feel bad for anyone who really wants the exclusive mount or pet because the already low odds just dwindled to next to nothing.

Was 15 or so free gems a month really too much? I seemed to me to be a nice goodwill gesture to players who weren't willing or able to gamble on crates. This feels like a step backward.

Well, this is just about enough to drop me from watching all together. I have about 5 hours of free time a day tops. Now you're telling me that I have to spend an hour watching a stream to get a box of junk?

You guys need to increase the size of your carrot if you want us to follow you to twitch. Not make it smaller and harder to get.

One thing I've noticed, which might be helpful to viewers, is that I don't necessarily need to be watching the same stream for a certain period of time, or for a continuous period of time, as long as all of the channels are part of the same drops campaign and are viewed during the campaign's period.

For instance, I think you may be able to watch, say, 10 minutes on one channel, go eat, watch 30 minutes on another channel, go to bed, then watch 20 minutes on yet another channel the next day if the campaign extends over those two days, and still qualify as having watched for 60 minutes.

That makes it easier to qualify, especially if (like me) you sometimes find that Twitch stops recognizing that you're online and are watching a given channel, since you don't have to keep starting all over again from scratch.

However, I would urge people to keep checking their online status in Twitch, as well as their indicated progress toward a given drop campaign's viewing requirements, to verify that this is the case if they decide to go channel-surfing, or must take a break, or are experiencing spotty connectivity, etc.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Once per campaign for one hour would be preferable to once per 15 minutes per day of the campaign IF it rewarded like 2-4 boxes. Then it's more flexible for the same amount of rewards, and would make it less complicated while supporting streamers.

Speaking of stealth changes - what ever happened to having drops on all three days of a weekend: Friday, Saturday, Sunday?

The new drops are only once per weekend now, a reduction in frequency of 2/3.

Is this intended behavior, and, if so, why?

    A little bit of feedback:
The whole purpose of the Loot Drops is to make more people to watch the stream. Correct ?
So they will watch more commercials along the way and Twitch will get more $. Correct ?
With current system, I can only receive one crate per "Stream Campaign" that is 100% guaranteed, and no chance for any additional ones. Correct ?

As for the whole change in Drop system:
Previously, with the old system, I was watching ESO streams for 3 days (Friday & 2 days of weekend) and for the most part I got 3 Crates. Often it was more or less 8H+ per day.

With current system, I can only receive one crate. So, my watch time dropped, since I watched it for 1h, got a Drop and I don't feel motivated to watch more, since I know I wont get anything - I simply do other stuff on My PC instead.

In the past, I would watch more and different streamers for each day of the campaign to get the one drop per day. Now that I'm only getting the one drop for a multi-day campaign, my Twitch watching has gone way down and I'm not trying new streamers.

This change is way less rewarding for players and worse for the ESO Stream Team. It's possible that streamers can see this in their metrics but are reluctant to publicly criticize the change.

Well thats another step backwards ,its not like the crates are very rewarding anyway so now there is even less incentive to watch . Just run your 1hr in the background where I use to watch everyday drops were enabled . Feel sorry for the streamers as people wont really be bothered now.

There is no motivation to watch ESO streams anymore. Now it takes 5-7 years to accumulate 400 gems, but who in their right mind will wait so long? We can't live forever. Therefore, I will no longer watch ESO streams and my friend told me that he would do the same. Bye bye, Microsoft.

Most people don't watch the streams (or indeed anything much on twitch). They put one on in the background, mute it, set themselves online and set a 15min or hour alarm. When the alarm goes bing you collect the crate and close the window.

This is really going to hurt streamers. I get double the amount of viewers on crate drop days. I'm sad to see the change. :( But thank you for responding to us, @ZOS_Adrikoth - the communication helps.

No wonder they started giving radiant apex mounts for gems when they decreased the number of ouroboros crates you can get during a campaign by 75%. They want to sell more crates.

I can report for sure that I'm just sticking to one streamer now, and only on the one day. Before I'd go from streamer to streamer and check out lots of different streams, adding follows to ESO Stream Team people as I went. Now there is not much point to that unless I actually want to check out the content, but then I can just watch an archived video if it's worth the time. It seems like this would consolidate the streamers into a smaller set of very popular ones, and the others will find it hard to break in.

The gems from the crates were minimal anyway compared to the RA mount costs. Typical gem drops from the Twitch crates is 4-5 gems. You'd have to watch 200-300 days of streams where there are drops to get the 1200 gem mount, assuming that you get lucky once and get the pet or the mount that drops and already have it. Even before the change, that would still take a super long time. Either way, if you are saving for a RA mount, you're pretty much going to have to buy crates.

ZOS has to balance the value of broader exposure to their streamers against the incremental financial benefit that they get from reducing drop rates. That value could actually be in the negative, if you consider that lowering the gem drops might place a customer's goal too far out of reach such that they decide that buying crates to close the gem gap to get a particular item will never be worth it. A tricky situation to parse out.
