New Radiant Apex mounts will be available for Crown Gems!!

If you have not been keeping up with the news, ZOS has confirmed that the radiant apex mounts coming in the next batch of crown crates will be available for crown gems.

And what does this mean for previous Crown Crates? will this new feature extend to returning crown crates? will ZOS make it so we could buy previous Radient Apex Mounts for Crown Gems?

As they should be, but this will only drive their revenue way up as people will buy more crates to get duplicate items to get more gems to buy the mounts. I use to buy a 15 pack of acrates a month and spend the gems when I saw stuff I wanted. I know I'm nowhere near the highest, but at the most I had just over 3k gems sitting around

I am really really happy about this, and I will probably buy more crates because of this. Wonder what the crown gem price for a radiant apex will be, a fair guess would be 2.5k-3k gems.

I always felt terrible to spend on crown crates and miss out on ALL the radiant apex mounts. So normally I stop buying crates when I have between 1k-1.5k gems, as I know I won't have any luck at all.

PS: If this works well, it would be cool if during any event atleast 1 radiant apex would be sold for gems. This would also help promote the crate season (and event) that is then running.

Crown Gems should be done away with period. I don't inherently hate cash shops and microtransactions, and I have spent $$$ in the Crown Store, and will again, as I am okay spending money on unique cosmetics and stuff. But I do hate hate hate the Crown Gems, where you can't actually just buy the items that require them, instead you just have to keep buying Crown Crates and deconning the stuff for gems until you get the hundreds you need for what you want.

The Radiants are already 400. They will definitely be more expensive than that.

Also, how did you get 1000 crowns for roughly $150?? Did you just buy $150 worth of crown crates and you ended up getting that many?

It was just an estimation on how many crowns I bought, how many crates I bought and how many gems I have left. I‘d say about $100-200 will give you 1000 gems, depending on how lucky you are (although lucky is the wrong word as you have to get duplicates or valuable stuff you don’t want like furniture or motifs that you can turn into gems).

As for me, I'm still not going to buy Crates where I'm gambling for a chance at the item I want.

Hmmm. That's.... honestly not nearly as bad as I would have expected. I mean, $100 is still a lot to spend on crates lol, but if I were to get 1000 gems from that, that would be enough to get me 2 radiant mounts.

Unfortunately, the one I really wanted to buy has already passed. How long does it take for them to cycle back?

Is it just me, or it is done because, you know... more & more countries are reacting to loot boxes & gambling and are working on legislation, because, you know, law needs to catch up with technology... So this change is done, not necessarily because ZOS is nice, (ZOS in nice btw), but because in general, they want to avoid certain... consequences in the future ?

It's great for the people who were going to buy masses of crates already, and thus they have something really good to spend them on. And the folks who chase a particular Radiant Apex have the assurance that their search will eventually come to an end.

Now, for anyone who would have otherwise bought less crates but now figures, "Hey, if I get enough gems I can buy that Radiant mount!"...yeah, that's from whom ZOS is hoping to reel in some extra profit.

It can take years and even so, I don’t think ZOS has said that Radiant Apex mounts from returning crates will be available that way. I would guess it will depend on how this change effects crate sales.

I usually get 100 gems for new crates, 200 for crates where I have 90% of the items already per 15 pack.
5500 crowns costs $40, so to get 1000 gems you would have to spend at least 5 (or 7 packs on average) so 5000*7 is 35000 which would cost $250 dollars.

Ballpark figures, anyway.

I'm surprised this wasn't done sooner honest, it'll lead to a lot more $$$$ for ZOS as people will not give up gambling and instead just get gems from buying crates.

I doubt there are so many players that want to spend several hundreds of dollars on a radiant apex mount.

Because most people who chase the mounts do so because they love how the mount looks, as opposed to because it's a status symbol proclaiming how much money they threw at the game.

I mean, if someone wanted future Radiant mounts for the perceived status, this change sucks.

Reminds me a bit of the person who was griping that ZOS made all the indrik feathers available at the end of the year, because somehow it made theirs that they earned earlier in the year seem less special.
