Backpacks?

Simple idea that could be fun for various fashion accessories, able to be equipped with the outfit system at outfit stations (but probably not collected outfits, given some of those already have backpacks/back slot items), and customized with dyes.

Doesn't even have to be backpacks specifically, maybe a bag of fish, or a quiver that replaces the quiver your bow uses when you bring it out, and stays equipped on your back even if you switch to a non-bow weapon.

If ZOS wanted to give these random back-slot items a function, to justify buying/earning them for other than just fashion, I suppose buying/earning them could give you an item slot upgrade across your account like those pack pets do. Could be fun to play around with, if they implemented it right.

I dont see much sense in replacing my beautiful Pyandonean quiver and bow with a different quiver and I also dont want to have a backpack instead. It also bothers me extremely when the bow and quiver merge with the backpack from the archaeologist costume.

so you dont have to use them (what OP is suggesting, what already exist in outfits is different case)

Luckily, as I read it, you dont have to use it if you dont like it.. More options are a good thing.. The transmog/wardrobe system in this game is horrible, so if it could be fleshed out, that would be great

I'm not against the idea, but I'd only use one if it was appropriate for the character and right now I can't think of any I'd like to have.

The OP's question "Backpacks?" could be read multiple ways. Like "would you be interested in backpacks", in which case I'd say No; or "would you like people to have the option of backpacks", in which case I'd vote Meh. (I'd much rather they spend their Costume & Outfit time on giving us Hide Shoulders, or Styles of the civilian clothes, or removing tassets, or... ;) )

Personally, I avoid all those "add bags & straps & cargo" mods for Oblivion/Skyrim/Fallout. I make pretty characters, not combat hobos festooned with bags. I want to see their outfits, even if they're not combat rational. Yes, it's not 'realistic', but I don't care. :#

As a primary mag character and secondarily 2h character player I HATE backpacks on costumes, they ruin the whole look with clipping and have kept me from purchasing several otherwise good looking costumes. I love the appearance of the Antiquarian one, but the back on it ruins it for my mag characters. I'd much rather have an off/on toggle for them.

Considering all the current clipping and hovering issues, would not want to see their take on backpacks. Dang thing would probably sit somewhere on your shoulders with the straps looped onto the air above your head.

That is a different situation from people taking them everywhere. We live in the city yet people trudge around with huge backpacks just going down to the corner store. I don't get it.

Eh I don't like the idea of my character walking around with a backpack. Already disliked the antiquity costume that has one. Just looks odd. Although some sort of bag on the belt might not be too bad. Just something to show that 'hey this is where I keep my stuff I pick up and hoard'. Mostly though I just kind of assumed that we all used some sort of space-time magic to keep our stuff :D

I don't mind the Antiquarian one, since it hides the shield on a couple of my guys. The Treasure Hunter is a PITA - the only way to not have a gaggle of clipping bits is to use dual-wield, so only my NB uses it (and I didn't pay for it, I got it out of a free crate). There's a couple others that hide shields but I don't have that many uses for them really.

I never have done the backpack mods in Skyrim - it's really not my thing. Though when we went to Germany when my second granddaughter was born (way back in 1997), we actually used backpacks to carry an extra set of clothes plus meds and personal items - a damn good thing too, since our actual luggage wound up in Rome....

I hope there will be scabbards sometime too. In Skyrim i had a mod for it, and weapons didn't looked glued on the characters back.

I don't get purses. Small ones don't hold much of anything are just for fashion and large ones are awkward and hard to carry. Of course, I am a guy and feel awkward when my wife wants me to carry her purse. I use a backpack for work to carry my laptop and other tools I use every day. It doesn't make me feel awkward at all.

Yes, most definitely yes. After seeing all the amazing back items in other games(allods, gw2, and now warcraft) I feel saddened each time logging into ESO with a bareback. I vehemently stand against back items that incorporate wings though.

I carry a small cross body purse for the few essentials I need to have with me when I'm out. The cross body style makes it so I don't have to actually hold the purse and it doesn't fall off my shoulder.

All I carry are a billfold, my keys, a pen, a chapstick and my phone. Not a lot but too much to fit in my pockets.

That's why I don't get what everyone else finds essential that they need a huge backpack for it.

Well, this is not really related to the game, but I am a computer network engineer. I travel to customer sites with the tools of my trade in a backpack. Those include a laptop, a power adapter, cables for consoling equipment, a screwdriver, etc. It wouldn't really fit in a small bag. I have used a shoulder bag before, but because the weight was not distributed evenly it gave me a sore back. Because I travel for work, and I like to play ESO, my current laptop is a bit on the heavy side. It has a discrete graphics card and a bigger power supply. My wallet, keys, pen, and phone live in my pockets and the backpack doesn't go everywhere with me. As a middle aged married man, I don't worry too much about fashion.

I have a fanny pack. A tiny cycling pack. A 30l Bundeswehr, a 60l Bundeswehr and 100l+ British Army surplus backpacks and I use all of those for various carrying tasks up to several week wilderness trekking trips. I don't need any fictional ones.
If other players do, I don't mind. I do mind the crown only nickel and dime inventory slots because that is selling a solution to problem ZoS made.
