tank queueing as fake dd?

is thing a thing now?
i queued as a tank and i got in a normal dungeon right away.
then i noticed a dealer using taunts and having over 40 k hp
i told him hes a dealer and not a tank
and he claims tanks have to que as fake dps in order to get into a dungeon these days.
and he criticized how i have 35hp as a tank.... in a norm dungeon.... at level 40
all my time in eso ive seen many dd que as fake healer or tank. ive never seen a tank que as fake dd.
took a break from my main toon and started a new character. ive been running random dungeons as a tank. didnt encounter any dps problems.
also this patch nerfed pve tanks merciless. wouldnt that cause more problem with fake tanks not the other way around?
i get it when some people queue as dealer and dont have enough dps and get criticized for that.

but this guy openly admit he was a tank. he was using puncture in all mobs and boss. he had over 40k hp. also had about 1000cp . he wasnt a dd with low dps he was tank queued as dd.
was this guy a troll or is he serious?

ps: i left the dungeon and just blocked him, since 2tank 1dd 1 healer in a norm dungeon is way too ridiculous

i was actually genuinely curious about it tbh since it coincidentally happened after the patch.

dont know where the who loses and wins come from

My method for dealing with folks who insist on taunting stuff after being warned is "You taunt it, you can tank it."

At least most of the accidental Ice staff taunting has greatly diminished.

yeah im glad they changed that

i didnt care much about him tanking all the stuff.
we just had ridiculously low dps even for a non dlc norm dungeon. even though i had many dps gears in bank, my toon wasnt max level yet so i couldnt swap gears even if i wanted to.
eso has many of trolls and idiots. who would have thought to go in dungeon as a tank disguised as a dd. they never fail to surprise me

I remember once we had a tank in normal moonhunter who was bare handed (no weapons at all). I figured it was a graphical glitch at first until we went to first boss and no taunt in sight. "Tank" was busy punching boss while boss chased everyone around. Tank wasn't responding to any messages in chat. So we kick the player. He apparently gets in q again for moonhunter and we get the same person. Kick again immediately. Cycle repeats 4 times and I just left group.

We were low lvl group doing random normal and there was no way we could get through moonhunter without tank so we had to abandon.

Sounds like a similar player here.

yeah im glad they changed that

i didnt care much about him tanking all the stuff.

Hrmm. I mean sometimes if my 'tank' clearly isn't one I'll slot a taunt or something, but no, tanks do not need to queue as a DD to get into dungeons.

I always wondered why the group finder thing even has the 'holy trinity' as a selection given the game also for such hybridised setups from the start and the tank role is so ill defined at all...

Several years ago I was doing SCP and one of the DDs had a sword n board, They were taunting with it. We brought it to their attention that it was interfering and they said "it's my playstyle."

What happened to you was pretty funny. I would have laughed. I would have left, but I'd have laughed as well. He was trolling.

Hahaha glorious. To be honest, I was thinking about doing the same a couple of months ago when we had all this fake tank complain threads when fake DPS is actually the problem.

Shame I never put it into practice. If 1 DD in RND isn't enough then he is also a fake role.

i fake tanked a lot...but it was normal dungeons which i could solo and with inner beast taunt which also increased my damage.

On one hand it is odd DPS que is most certainly longer than tank. On the other hand though turn around is fair play with how many dps fake que as support roles.

But I will say two tanks in a dungeon isn't really needed so it's kind of pointless for him to do so unless he was expecting someone to fake que as a tank.

In my years playing I run across this twice. One the other person said he made a mistake and didn't mean to queue as a DPS, only just changed their skills and sets. The other person did it on purpose because he got so many fake tanks he thought he would just be a fake dps.

In both situation I let them tank it since that's what they wanted to do. First time I did sorry damage but we finished. That is why I know carry a dps setup along with all the needed tanks sets. Second time said let me switch my sets and they did and we completed the dungeon just fine.

This, now you can run into people using sword and board overland but assume they are either people running on tank builds or casuals who don't know better.

IMO, I know it's hard but ZOS should act on fake queues, since it's a kind of exploit.

Maybe we, as a community, should be systematically reporting fake tanks and fake heals? Maybe only when they are overwhemeld by reports will ZOS realize the problem and act?
Nowadays, It's hard to get a real group in party find. Cheaters everywhere.

Not only do they not do what they are supposed too, but every fake tank and fake heals out there have terrible DPS. They just make the run longer and harder than necessary. They are a detriment.

i will not tank for ppl that cant do the mechs of the dg and do 3k-5k... i didnt see anybody arguee about dps with 35k of health true? maybe you think my job as a main tank is carry all over the community throught the matchmaking, im the tank , i choose my trip partnership... if you think there arent enought tanks, make a tank and play like a tank

Nobody said that, my friend. You can tank for able groups, and I commend you for that (in fact, I'm always a fan of true, good tanks). And you can indeed choose your trip partnership, sure. Just, if you queue as a tank, be a tank, is all ..and either accept the group you are dealt with or leave. It's really not complicated.

Or do a premade, where 4DDs are ok. Hell, even 4 tanks are ok, in premades.
I have nothing about 3dds or 4dds runs per se. I just find them utterly ineficient, and I dislike having them imposed to me by people who just want to cut queue time.

When I queue as a DPS, I do DPS and try to do it well (and succeed, without false modesty). A fake tank brings often less DPS than I lose via buffs/debuffs and having to chase the boss around like an idiot. In this, he is a detriment.

If I do over 50% of group DPS on a 3 DD run, then, the fake tank is a detriment and should just be ashamed. And it's annoying feeling like I carry a cheater around.

When I did random normal as Tank is wasn't uncommon for me to see DD's with sword n' board or Ice Staffs.
Many would steal taunt.. Even seen it in Vet.. Usually it's new players or PVP players in dungeons.

Im using hybrid build to queue as tank for random normals and easier vet pledges. What happened to me once was we got second tank who queued as dd, fake heal who was a tank too and some low dd. Ofc they were some newbies who thought using tormentor sets and inner rage is something normal. Ended up basically me healing with orbs and breath of life, tanking bosses and dd one bar. All went fine, but i dont have problems queing as tank usually, geting in for a seconds.

I guess some ppl que as dd being tanks, expecting to get fake tank as in most dungeons, but the reality is thats pretty bad idea

I've had this happen a few times but I change gear to DD and away we go.

If your pugging, you need to be flexible for all roles!
