I just wondered what people are doing to prepare for this update, if anything.

Recovering from this update is going to be a monumental task for me, and I'm not going to do it all in one go. It's going to take me weeks, if not months to get round to rebuilding my 18 characters. Each has 64 attribute points, 300+ skill points and now 1640 CP that will need putting (back) in place.

There's no chance I'm going to remember all my toons' current set-ups, especially the ones I don't play very often. So, I'm going to spend some time tomorrow screen shotting their bars and some skill point allocations in particular skills.

Delete couple of redundant add-ons that are base game or unsupported now, one or two evenings to chose 18 chars new morphs and some new skills to their builds as each significant update and usual gear transfer between them plus reconstructing some new pieces, yet again nothing painful.

I took photos of my skills then put them in a spreadsheet so I can easily recreate them on the day:

In the same spreadsheet I created the CP stars and their links and have worked out exactly where I want to allocate my CP points, tried it out on ESO-Hub CP calculator took me only a few minutes to do it.

PS this is only the second time I've tried to share pictures so I hope this works

I’m on console. I have enough gold mats from crafting writs to gear out all 12 characters. Generally I share gear. Focus on my tank, one stam dps and one mag at a time craft with the rest. I also choose a character for pvp (rarely pvp but foot to have one IMO). I’m all set.

It won't take long to put the skill points back at least for me. As for the CP setups that will take awhile of figuring out, what I want to go with.

Got no plan to grind all the way to CP3600 though, will figure out exactly how much CP I need for all the stuff I want and aim to get to that level after that, I will go back to ignoring xp for the most part.

The only preparations I have been doing is:

-Hoarding easy master writs in alts inventory's eg: Alchemy, Enchanting(ones that don't use Hakeijo) Provisioning(ones that don't need Perfect Roe) I will use them with a 150% xp scroll at the next double xp event. Also hoarding the mats needed for them.

-Put the 200 or so 50% xp scrolls in the bank and had one of each of my writ crafting alts use one, will keep doing that till I run out of scrolls to slowly aid leveling CP and use up scrolls I would not ordinarily bother with since I would rather use 100% xp pots on my main when grinding.

-Hoarding surveys so that I can take advantage of the 50% chance of double harvest new CP but its mostly because I am too lazy to do them in the first place.

-Bought and made a mix of max level training gear for my main, fully upgraded to gold, weapons and the 5 main body pieces leaving the monster sets spot alone can't be stuffed making a training version of any monster sets, would rather just make do with what I have and switch freely to what I want to use.

Then again I will probably be working not long after the update so won't have much time to grind but that just means I have no rush, since I would not have been playing as much either way.

Eh, I just wrote down what skills are in my skill bars on each of them, and what crafting tier they were in each craft. Sticking the skill points back in will be straightforward from that info. /shrug

We all have 2 weeks of free respects including CP. So we can experiment with different setup and settings. Hopefully we can find all the little something's that are not quite right during these 2 weeks.

Assuming dressing room remember my skills setups, shouldn't be hard to put back the skill points. Have not been following the CP changes so I'll read up some guides after it goes live and figure that out.

I only have 8 characters, and I'm probably going to delete one permanently and then delete and recreate another so that only leaves 6 to re-do. I'll probably go through them one at a time, as and when I feel like it and put their skill points back in, but not necessarily in the same configuration I have now, because it's been a while since I've looked at some of them (and some skills might have been unlocked purely to level them up).

The part which will take some time is deciding if I want to use champion points now. At the moment I don't because I spend the vast majority of my time in open world maps and occasionally do normal dungeons and I hear endless complaints about how easy and boring both are with CP, so when I got to level 50 and found the difficulty was about right for me without them I decided to keep it that way. Now the CP system is being changed I will probably at least use some of the ones which don't affect combat at all, but I might be able to use some of the combat ones too without it getting stupid, but I'll need to play around with different set ups and what works and what's still too OP.

With over 40 characters it will be quite a task, although a third of them don't have CPs yet so that is something. I'm not making any preparations and haven't studied the new CP system in any detail but will approach the characters separately as I get to play them.

I'm never in favour of enforced respecs, although clearly a completely new CP system requires the enforced scrapping of present allocations, but with attributes and skill points I much prefer things being left as they were but with a token allowing a free respec if required. This is on the basis that I've had respecs of one kind or another following changes in a good many MMOs and have not once changed the way in which the characters were set up as a result of those changes.

Hi, i got the Addon CarosSkillPointSaver, go on each Toon, allocate a Hotkey for it, open it, read current data: Skills, Morphs and cp 1.0 and booth Hotbars, save the Data, rename, done. I have 2 Accounts, 1) NA 11 Toons, cp1083/EU 8 toons cp725 2)EU 6 Toons cp180, so i have to do quiet a lot. That addon, as it was described here in the Forum is really a Lifesaver for many a Altoholic lol

Personally, I'm not concerned about skills. if I don't remember what skills a char had, I obviously haven't played them enough for the change to make any difference. If I ever play them again, I'd need to relearn how to play them anyway, having to read tooltips and chose morphs will actually help there.

CP 2.0 is another matter, there is a lot to play with, so I'll focus on 1 or 2 chars while respecs are still free.

brain operates by association. when you remember or think of one thing, you remember another. it should be relitivly easy to remember what your chars use to be honest. I mean my young brained remembered pokemon, what types they were and their move sets XD.. as an example. compared to that this should be a cake walk. you got this!

Yes the useful info is just who skills you have and that morph. 3 class skills, 2-4 weapon skills. Armor skill is mostly if all or just some passives, full or just 3. Then additional skill lines.

I uses an addon who also let you copy the setup to an site who would be nice if the system fails.

CP not started thinking about yet.

Using Caro's Skill Point addon - I'll plop the SP back on everyone over the next few days, except for a couple of 50s where I almost bought respecs the day before the news landed. Dodged THAT bullet thankfully....

CP.... well, it's only the 50s and one 37 that was just too squishy for some reason after I swapped some stuff around on her (she started out tanky, then I swapped her into medium armor and 2 hand which I usually do fairly well with; I think it's because she's a templar and that's not my favorite class by far....) Anyway, hopefully I can figure it out for 6 characters in two free weeks.

Saving all my data with the skill point saver, then probably not going to do much for a week on most toons whilst I figure it out a bit more. The update day I'm simply assuming there will the usual overruns and the game won't be back until about midnight UK time.

Allocate all relevant passives, then just fill out needed active skills as needed.
Thankfully I remember what I run on each toon, my armor and weapons worn are also clue towards that.
As for cp, I'll have fun fiddling with that.

I have everything in spreadsheets but for my alts I don't run as much I can just use a cookie cutter build from Alcast and then tweak as needed.
