Tell me about mag builds with daggers and swords please :)

Is the extra damage of spells given by swords worth the loss of eight percent damage buff of the single target spells granted from fire staff? If yes, why? Same for daggers.
Also, losing ranged light attack. Worth it?
Does light attack of a melee weapon scale with magicka?
How worthy could be that backstab passive in trials?
How can one survive in light armor in melee range?

It's just that all these rumors that the MagDD have great potential to become a new meta are very much fueling my curiosity, and I have no access to the PTS.
Let's be extremely precise in our use of terms.

Presuming you are talking about PvE.
From testing people have done it seems that daggers can provide slightly higher dps than an inferno staff on a magDD because of the additional crit they provide, since crit from sets has been nerfed the additional crit from daggers can really help.

This is less the case with swords as the crit is more beneficial than spell damage.
losing ranged light attack. Worth it?
Maybe, it depends on the fight. But for example if you are a magDK then you already have to be melee range, and magCro's want to be as close to the boss as they can already.
Does light attack of a melee weapon scale with magicka?
They all scale with your highest offensive stat. This was changed with Markarth.
How worthy could be that backstab passive in trials?
If you can flank the boss like for example, vKA and vMoL then it will definitely be worth running it. If you can't flank the bosses like in Sunspire then it will not be worth running it.
How can one survive in light armor in melee range?
Quite easily, in trials. In most trials groups are already running the majority of DD's in melee range.

    ^This

From a pvp/general perspective, while fire destro buffs single target dmg by 8% and shock buffs aoe by 8%, 2H/DW buffs both. So if you are using both aoe and single target abilities, staves are less useful.

There was a time back in the day that people, especially for magplars, used to dual-wield swords, elegant swords to be precise. I feel like this is gonna be a return to it, sort of. Melee mag chars back to dual-wielding. It will come down to whether you need range for the encounter or not.

For pvp 2 hander has a lot of useful bonuses even for Magicka classes, like 10% extra damage on your burst skill after a heavy attack, 30% Stam regen after a kB, and the reworked heavy weapons passives can all benefit mag and stam equally.

    Why?

As blastbones will be your highest damage skill, and you can only cast another blastbones when your first has despawned.

You want your blastbones to hit and despawn as fast as possible. Since blastbones has a travel time you want to stand close to the boss to ensure that your blastbones will hit and despawn within 2 seconds.

Allowing you to hit as many blastbones as possible, so you can cast blastbones-skill-skill-blastbones.
