Connecting to realm

I started logging in today via steam and it normally just logs straight through but today a message popped up about which server although it only offered EU, which I generally use. I selected that and have been sat for a few minutes on a message saying connecting to realm and connecting to EU megaserver. Never seen this before, is this normal, has anyone else had this?

So I cancelled it and it gave me the usual login screen and is logging in normally now. Must have been a glitch.

I've seen that a few times, but not recently-- it's been several months since the last time; I started a thread about it last year. It always showed just the one server that Steam was trying to log me into. I'm guessing it's caused by a temporary inability for Steam to establish a connection to the indicated server, as opposed to anything new that ZOS is planning. To be honest, I'd love it if Steam wouldn't automatically log me into the last server I'd been on, but would instead give me a chance to choose either the PC NA or PC EU server, since I play on both of them.
