Not giving set pieces because not meta?

It was hard to word this in a small sentence for the title, but basically...

Has anyone ever had group members in a dungeon/trial refuse to give you pieces of a set that you wanted and they had just because they deemed the set 'not good'? Like... if you want to keep it, that's fine, but deeming it 'not good' (whether it's true or not) just seems like a rude reason not to give the pieces to someone.

But maybe I'm seeing it one sided too much, so has this happened to anyone else before? have you DONE this? if so I'd like to hear your reasoning, maybe I'm just short sighted.

Edit: NO I was NOT using an addon to spy on their loot drops. I asked if anyone had any set pieces of the set I wanted and they linked a piece I needed in chat, but wouldn't give it to me because the set 'wasn't good'.

I've never seen this, but with the Sticker Book, there's straight-up no reason for this attitude. Any set might be buffed to BIS in the future (Okay, maybe not ANY set), and having it in your sticker book means you won't need to farm it if that happens. It makes no sense not to Sticker-Book any unlearned item you come across in the game.

That seems to me to be a silly reason. My only guess to why is they think you will instead of using it decon it and they want the materials for themselves?

Maybe? I dunno, kinda bums me out because the dungeon is kinda hard. Thankfully not a monster set so I can do it on normal but still.

*Flops* one of these days I'll get this 'not good' set haha.
Even if it's not good, I'd like to at least try it, ya know?

I haven't done this before but I haven't encountered this before. After an explanation as to why people shouldn't use that particular set they understand and realize the flaws in their ways. What set are you looking for just out of curiousity?

Well if it sucks so much, I'll gladly take it off your hands?

Yeah, that excuse doesn't make any sense.

Most PC players use the addon to see what drops. I get whispers instantly. Sometimes people get pissy if I dont wanna give it to them. Before the sticker book I always gave stuff away that I didn't need, esp if it was trash set. Now even if the set is trash I still wanna bind it for my sticker book. But if I already have it then I'll give away. Alot of lower cp players seem to think that because I'm high cp I probably already have this set or I dont want it coz it's not meta. But sticker book was added to the game recently and high cp players wanna collect stuff too. Sets can always change next patch.

They flat out told me, jeesh.... They had bracers, that they linked in chat.

No need to go all angry on me, I didn't even know there WAS an addon to spy on loot, but that sounds hella creepy.

No what happened was I flat out asked in chat if anyone had it, they linked it, but then refused to give it to me because the set wasn't good.

Lol wow... what's with that? if it's crap, then why not give it?
if they want to keep it for themselves, i have NO problems with that, but refusing to give it just to keep someone else from using it in their build is just *** IMO and I'm TRYING to see it in a different light, but so far people have just been accusing me of spying with add-ons and such.

Usually I'm happy to give any pieces away in dungeons except jewellery unless I'm in a group specifically farming for such pieces.

If their excuse for not giving it to you was that it's a "Bad" set, then they obviously haven't paid attention to this game over the years, where a set is "bad".... until it isn't (see Medusa for a prime example)

Nothing stops ZOS from taking another look at the set and making changes to it in order to buff it.

And that's totally valid if you wanna keep it for yourself! I legit do not mind that at all. It's a lot to ask for a stranger to demand you give them something you can use.

It does (sorta) when they give a reason. Especially if it happened like was said above. If you have the piece and don't want to give it up then don't link it when someone makes the group request.

I agree to an extent, but some people will always be trolls and it’s usually best just to ignore them rather than give them power by getting upset.

Always great advice. Sometimes it is fun to reverse the tables on them though for a bit before moving on.

If they honestly think that the set is trash, then they should have absolutely no hesitation giving it to you or anyone else. Their excuse sounds like a flimsy cowpat excuse. If their real reason was because they had other plans for it, then that's fine, they should just say that and at least be honest about it. But to give the reason they did sounds like a load of cowpat.

Not accusing you of anything here @coop500 , but just offering a possible explanation:

Maybe they know you from the forums, and did it just to spite you! (yes, really!)

I used to have a different @name & userID that matched here on the forums. I also have what are apparently unpopular opinions from time to time. WELL, one day I logged on to find a seemingly endless stream of Ta runes (the ubiquitous, useless white ones) sent to me individually in the in-game mail. ONE. RUNE. AT. A. TIME. (Apparently this was something of a trend back in ~2017? I heard guildies talking about this happening to them as well.)

E v e n t u a l l y... I cleared them all out, and ended up with a message that said something like, "Next time think before you open your mouth about Sorc pets!" or whatever. lol

To be honest, I found it pretty funny. It was a quality troll, I'll give them that. Probably took them longer to execute than it took me to clear out, but it was a bit of a pain, haha.

Ended up becoming friends with that jerkass, and we laughed about it later. :D
