Fake healers/tanks

I am so tired of this! I know eso is all about letting you play what you want to be but can nothing be done about it? I constantly get into groups with a fake healer or tank which ends up wiping the group. Atleast have 1 or 2 heals on your skillbar!

Why don't you put on a heal skill?
If you die in 4 person content it's not always someone else's fault you know...

    Or just don't pug
I don't pug and I never have to worry about having an actual healer in dungeons, so damn useless

Fake healing isn’t an issue as most 4 man content doesn’t need one, although I prefer the buffs and support. Fake tanking is very annoying and I find the ‘kick’ option very useful in this situation. Bad dps or dragging a pvp build into a random dungeon is equally frustrating. The solution is to form your own group with people you know or guild members. If you use group finder sadly you have to expect to be disappointed.

Yep. Fake dds with no damge and no knowledge of mechanics also a big issue.
I mean you can wipe even in NORMAL crypt 2 or something because of it.

😱no, if the group is struggling in normal crypt 2, the issue is probably the fact that they are learning the game at a very low level. I assumed the points made here relate to veteran content I’m hoping 😂

There is a difference between people intentionally queueing into a specific role and those who really don't know how to play.
I remember my first time playing dps and not knowing anything about rotation, weaving, proper sets, etc. because I thought "this is ESO" and "play however you want" and "most casual mmo".
My first time healing was also similar experience.. "spam healing spell over and over" and didn't know that buffs are that important.

Maybe they are doing the content for the first time or are learning their class still? Atleast they queue for their role. A healer not using a single healing spell all dungeon or a tank not holding aggro at all using a 2h weapon and dying in 2 hits is my issue. Atleast those dps are usually trying and play the role they queue for

The complaints are definitely not exclusive to vets at all. I had a tank and his DPS buddy get super mad when they realized - after the first boss - I was fake healing with my MagDK in a normal Direfrost Keep a couple weeks ago. I was carrying one of my DPS buddies through it, and he kept telling me in discord that they were trying to vote kick me. No one ever died, ever came close to dying, or even were neglected heals/synergies. I bet the guy was just mad that I was 1bar out-DPSing him by a very large margin, since I made over 60% of the group damage on that troll boss. They refused to continue if I wasn't vote kicked, called me names, one of them probably made a reddit/forum rage post about it, and ended up dropping group. My buddy and I duo'd the entire dungeon without any deaths. Amazing, that.

In my experience if a pug group struggles to clear a dungeon, it's mostly a lack of dps (or for harder dungeons dds not knowing how to avoid a oneshot mechanic).
Just yesterday I had another of those runs. I was on a full tank with all the buffs and debuffs you can have, we had a healer with good support and we failed because adds did spawn faster than the dds could kill them.
If I had used one of my dds and queued as a fake tank, we certainly would have cleared it without issues.

It still somewhat amazes me that there are people with several hundred cp that do less than 5k dps. I mean, I know not everyone knows or cares about weaving, crafted potions, optimized gear and a good rotation, but even if you just take some random medium armour, equip a bow and spam snipe all day, you should have more dps than that.

Get ready for more with the next patch...

With the rise in CP people are going to want to grind out more XP in the fastest way possible, and the recent changes with the Ring of the Pale Order from the previous patch makes healers feel irrelevant, and the new armor changes are really screwing PvE tanks' resistances. I know a lot of people who main those roles who are thinking about changing their characters, and most who play support don't like PUGging anyway since they don't want to deal with the negativity of random groups.

Best bet is to find a guild to do your randoms if you don't want to deal with fakes.

I don't mind aslong as there is no issues..but when the whole group wipes 2 times and there is still not healing after that or the tank admitting that "maybe I should have put on a shield"..

I had a CP540-something spamming Execute all fight long in vMHK, pulling so little damage that he couldn't pop the bubble on me during the glyph boss and the healer had to help the next time it happened. I asked him if he was using a pvp build, and he said no. He ended up leaving the group voluntarily when confronted with the fact he just did not do enough damage. Would have been a chad move if he didn't do a "hurrrrrr" before dropping.

I've seen many fakers lately, but they mostly stay on normal dungeon, where one or several high-level characters can still drag all group out of this mess. Just today, had tank with 10k health xD Somewhere in the middle, he remembered about food and it was 15k. But lately, my problem with fake dd. They do so little damage, that no matter how good tank or healer is, they just cannot compensate. I had this issue in vet Elden Hollow 2 - me as healer and really good tank were forced to wipe, because everything around was covered in flames, and Bogdan still had 82% of his health. Later, in Selene''s web, could not kill Selene, were overwhelmed by mobs, because dd''s could not even kill them in reasonable time. And if I stopped healing them even for a second to add my damage, they died, because quote " 13k health is enough, I did many dungeons, and never used food". And of course, there's this screenshot on these forums, of BC2 with orbs and dozen of daedroths, with Rilis around 80%. And you cannot even blame them - they are doing perfectly fine in overland content even with 5k dps. This is the main problem: difference between overland, normal and veteran content is too big. But if you buff overland, then tanks and healers will have it even worse than they have it now. PC at least have addons to quickly change gear and skills. Btw, you can learn parsing with dummy to buff dps, but there are no dummies for heals or tanks. Many of them are just bad at their job, but do not even realize it. In many other games, healers are just for healing, here you must buff, debuff, heal and add some damage as healer and same goes for tank, but how can you realize that it is you, who is bad one in the group, if you can have fake tank fake healer and fake dps in the same dungeon.

I had many times people even with cap cp as dd on dungs like this and when they was finally kicked if they was...I was feeling no a single difference in dps without them

it is ok to queue for basic dungs if you are learning, it is ok to que dlc dungs if you ar learning new class and have knowledge about game, if you have knowledge abou game then new class learning is not huge problem at the end but just not exp rotation

but queue for dlc vet dung and not knowing even basics or unable to perform your class is big problem as it will be just ball o the chain for rest of the group in harder content

Or don't que for hard content without at least some people in your party being able to perform one of those roles....

I get it, when you jump into a random, it sucks getting a dungeon and not having the proper group mix to be able to complete it, but you just leave, and re-que after your 10 minute cooldown. But that is why the best answer is always to make friends or join a guild.

Got a funny tank without taunt skills that was only dpsing and a low cp dps (trying) and a second *** high cp dps (1149) using volley 24/7... and things took ages to die. The party disbanded at the first boss of vCOS. They need to keep that bull on normals.

Not gonna lie, but I generally have more fun on my tank than any other role.

I think it's just a more interesting role than a set rotation to parse high numbers while being silently judged by everyone elses damage meters.

Pve tanks ARE fun to play.
But most people get hung up in outdated Trinity roles here and seem to think all a tank does is poke and block.
Try running full group support in 3 dps try doing more, it keeps things interesting

If they were fun to play there would be a lot more of them. And the fake tank/healer controversy would be replaced with us needing more dps. But that is not the case.
Right now the answer to preventing getting a fake tank/healer is to make our own groups. (And even more obvious solution would be to not do dungeons at all but that is a distraction.)
The solution to the problem of fake tanks/healers in lfg can’t be to not join lfg, that does not solve the problem. It’s like suggesting the solution for bad internet is to not use the internet. It does nothing to solve that actual issue.
Right now there are few people offering to fill the roles of tanks and healers in this video game. The reason is that in this video game tanks and healers are not fun to play. The solution is to make tanks and healers fun to play.

But how would you go for that?

I love playing my tank. I really only play one character, and I have never done any group content as anything but a tank.

Sure, I have low DPS in overworld, but overworld is nice and easy so I don't need to have high DPS to get through. You want to make tanking miserable? Take any of these 100k DPS's suggestions to make overland as hard as trials. At that point, I'd only be able to tank dungeons, and then I'm not playing if I can't play solo.

What makes tanking and healing 'not fun' is the fact that we've gotten several 'features' lately that really make support roles feel forgotten. Healers were scared of the Pale Order ring since it would make them irrelevant in groups. Sure enough, the ring makes it easy to to things like vVH (at least for a DPS build), but now healers in dungeons are wasting resources not knowing the others have the ring. If the other members of the group are wearing it, all the healer can really do is throw out a few buffs and do their (poor) DPS. Now the changes to heavy armor are making it so tanks will not have the resistances they're used to anymore, which means that we already can't deal damage and now we're not going to be able to take it either... so what's the point?

A lot of support roles also avoid PUGs since we've had a lot of bad experiences. If a tank build is doing more than 10% of group DPS in a vet dungeon, then that tank knows it's going to be a slog. There are some people who have seen DPS that do less damage than the support roles do! Also if the DPS just pretend their parses will carry them so they ignore mechanics - you can't be healed through oneshots or just standing in stupid the whole time, and you do 0 DPS when you're dead. It just makes for a frustrating experience for supports since we don't have the DPS to carry the group if it needs it, and it just ends up taking forever. Meanwhile a good DPS with a fake tank/healer can usually just carry and nuke things before they're too problematic. And don't forget the speedrunners who race ahead of the tank, pull the entire dungeon without warning, and then get mad that the tank doesn't immediately taunt and pull every one of the trash adds and the boss together after the tank expends all stamina trying to sprint to catch up.

A lot of support I know don't like to PUG since they don't feel like dealing with the toxicity. They'd rather run with their own groups. That means there's even fewer supports in the PUG pool, which means queues will take longer unless more people fake the roles, which makes the people who stay in the DPS queue much more demanding, which makes...

Impostor syndrome is also an issue - it's hard to feel like you did a good job as support unless someone specifically tells you that, and you're not likely to get that outside of premade groups. There are very few 'good job' mechanics for supports, and the few that exist can be bypassed (like you can nuke Narilmor with high DPS and then it doesn't matter if you pass Tharayya's heal check or not). On the other hand, there are several DPS checks that cannot be bypassed unless you have the requisite DPS. That means that if a dungeon run goes well, it's because you had good DPS. If it goes badly, then the DPS (even if they couldn't make a DPS check) will blame it on the support for not buffing them - I've even seen people get annoyed that tanks aren't pulling enough DPS. Also there are some vet dungeons where once the tank goes down, it basically means the group wipes. So the dungeon fails and the support's at fault (or gets blamed).

Again, bad support can be carried by good DPS. Bad DPS will stall out a dungeon no matter how good your support is.
