You could always play Altmer with swords. However, that won't give you the highest dps- neither before, nor after these changes...

    totally agree^^

OP....please don't bring your hybrid build into my vet trial or vDLC. Have a blast with them if you find them fun, but don't illude yourself that you'll be competitive - you won't.

Harder than a redguard or nord, you know 2 races that are supposed to be hitting hard with swords and the like rather than dedicated magicka races:)

If the racial changes from the PTS go Live I dont know if I should change my Breton to Altmer or Dunmer. I have always wanted to try stam sorc on my main so either races could allow for the flexibility to switch between mag and stam builds.

Dunmer is probably a bit stronger for stam builds but Altmer has better sustain.
With the nerf to resistances and the majority of the PVE damage coming from fire I think I am leaning towards Dunmer.

Yeah, but would still slap harder with a mace even after the changes... unless you hit some crazy person in light armor with no physical resistance... Poor Light armor users next patch :heartbreak:

Stamina Altmer becomes more viable, as they'll have great sustain on Magicka, so they can cast more utility spells. Stamplar comes to mind. Um, at this point Altmer has better Stamina passives than dedicated races, lol.

Im not a bybrid build, just a stam sorc. Besides if that hybrid character just so happens to pull extremley high dps then I think its fine. Play style means nothing when you got the dps

Dunmer have that extra stamina, and can go with ease both ways. I am a stam sorc who pulls rn 40-50k something dps. Cp changed messed up this a lot though... I fear this new update

In my head canon, Altmer were never "magic only". They had warriors and spell swords too. The outside world saw their prowess with magic and stereotyped them as being capable with magic only - but that was far from the truth. They were not a match for an Orc in brute strength but an Altmer warrior has centuries to perfect sword techniques.

My hybrid was never as gifted as her sister with magic but she did learn that separating someone's head from their body with a battle axe could be just as effective (and cathartic).

I soooo agree!! Im a huge lore fan, so people are really not happy for no reason. Plus you can be a magicka themed race, playing as stamina, who aren't hybrids. The amount of argonians and bretons who have gotten into hard vet trials without being meta, completed it and no one batted an eye.

Also,I forgot to mention that not only aren't my builds hybrids, they are either fully stam or magicka, and I have been in trials/ dungeons with stamina based bretons and argonians that pull high numbers. You can most definatley do a good job if you are a stamina altmer. Lore wise the altmer are not only magic users, they also use swords and bows. My characters are like that. So yeah, I've completed a lot of vet dungeons on my stam altmer and all have gone smoothly.

You're right. Its why I follow mechs but want high dps too. Both can exist. I have plenty of clears on my stam altmer and I think I do pretty good. I follow mechs and if someone dies I pick them up.

I give up trying to figure stuff out. Like some races fit their roles from the series perfect, or at least one role. Then they give others stuff they never had or roles they were never known for. They also seem to not care about some races, it's just wtf at this point.

I mean skyrim races had very little effect on playstyle, which I liked. Lots of orc users and altmee users wanted to do mag and stam builde but felt limited. This spell+wep dmg increase is a really nice addition. Altmer in the lore also have weapon users, and I always wanted my classes to have this. My redguard hasn't got a wep dmg increase, but lots of stam, my altmer has a nice balance of stam, and mag (which as a stam sorc is great bc of the stam resource restore ability). The fact I now have the wep dmg increase is nice for PVP and PVE reason. Same goes for orcs btw. It to me comes down to character building. You want an orc that grew up in a breton village and excelled at magic? Cool you can now do that. Doesn't change the meta, just adds something nice for those of us character builders.

My Altmer in Skyrim used dual glass swords and wore the tavern dress, using alteration skills for armor. She also used conjuration. At the start of a fight I would summon my atronarchs, cast dragon hide on myself, and then go to town with my dual swords. I miss that.

When they gave us our free race swaps years back, I changed my stamplar to a dunmer, just in case I wanted to go magplar. Still happy I did, but I have since made a breton, so I guess it doesn't really matter now. I might race change him to a more stam focused race, and just have the 2 be better at different things. Nice not having to pay for all the spec changes.

note:450~ spell/weapon is a good way to ignore the meta-ness of some when the gear procs a fixed number

I just wanted to say, before Skyrim Argonians were always known as mages, thieves, assassins. In Morrowind Argonians made some of the best Nightblade. So you come to ESO thinking yeah I can play what I always played and be competitive, that seemed not to be the case. You find out your race on here is a complete flip from the whole series, had the lowest stats for healing and tanking. So you hope and hope and hope they adjust or change it, and they never seem to care. Then you see Altmer known for magic in the entire series get weapon dmg. You are just sitting and wondering, why they can make that race a good dps, but not yours when it was known for it. It just feels like the combat team does't care about that race. It feels like they see how overwhelming the hate in the community is for a single race, so they decide to ignore it. That's honestly how it feels.

Altmer have always had battle mages who use swords, bows, sheilds and the perfect classes for this is stamplars, and stam sorcs which have a magic theme, they just use stamina as a rss. I see no issue with this, and in oblivion I'm an altmer battle mage, using both weapons and healing spells. I wouldn't make a hybrid in ESO for bigger stuff, but you get that feel with some classes.

Argonian's for tanking+ healing mages are incredible, and my friend is a stam argonian that pulls 50-60k dps. You can be what you want and argonian stats are so good, especially in healing and magicka dps. The racial passives are simply awesome. Even for a dps.I went on the PTS and was a tank argonian. Really smoothe and nice as an argonian.

Its a stupid change much like ZOS giving Orc spell damage but what do you expect from the people who try and make Khajiits mages. In all the TES games Altmer have never had any martial skill bonuses and Orcs and Khajiits have never had any magic skill bonuses. But ZOS logic :unamused:
Pìerre - Breton Vampire Templar, Grand Overlord. Erádàn - Bosmer Templar, Warlord. Vyríc - Imperial Vampire Necromancer, Centurion. Sybìl - Breton Sorcerer, Centurion. Erìch - Nord Vampire Nightblade, Corporal. Njàll - Nord Templar, Lieutenant. Elánnà - Bosmer Warden, Veteran. Laquì - Redguard Vampire Nightblade, Corporal. Noveni Dres - Dunmer Sorcerer, Lieutenant. Marìnus - Imperial Warden, Veteran. Arvyn Indoril - Dunmer Templar, Sergeant. Rósalyn - Breton Sorcerer, Corporal. Emelîn - Bosmer Dragonknight, Corporal. Astaroth Indoril - Dunmer Sorcerer.
