I think we should leave this strategy as an option, between killing the tortures or healing the prisoners. I thought it was a cool idea as it punishes you for healing by sending them down but without the enrage. While killing them let you ignore them entirely. Thought it was intended and I personally thought it was a really awesome feature between the two. I think it should be kept in the game as it does offer multiple ways to handle an encounter which I'd like to see more of in the game.

    I agree that we should leave it as an option, however, it would need adjustments. Currently, it's too easy to send 1 DD to each torturer with just 1 healing spell to do the job (some groups managed with 1 DD healing both prisoners) and it's much easier option than sending someone to kill the torturer in time. What they should do is balance the two options to be of roughly same difficulty, but Zos decided to simply remove the significantly easier option.

    I highly doubt they'll change their mind.

    How do you heal them ? It is on last phase when 2 groups of DD going up for them ? I was thinking u can only damage them.

    Can u explain me pls ?

    It is during the execute phase. The Torturer (enemy vampire type mob) is attacking there a friendly imprisoned NPC. Instead of damaging and killing the torturer, you can heal the friendly NPC. The torturers enrage themselves when they kill the friendly NPC, but if you heal the NPC they won't enrage and come down to the group in "calm" state. And non-enraged torturers hit like wet noodles, you don't have to worry about them and just cleave them with the boss.

    And why is that easy? Because 1 DD with just 1 heal ability slotted (be it Living Trellis, Honor the Dead ...) is enough to keep the friendly NPC alive till the torturer teleports down. You can send 2 DDs with heal ability, 1 to each torturer and other 6 DDs can keep burning the boss.

    @Olupajmibanan thx man i didnt even know this. I read in somewhere on forum but i couldnt understand maybe cuz i am a tank not DD and have no idea how upper area looks like.

    Agree, currently ZOS is on the mission to make healer irrelevant and it is very sad to see that one cool mechanic that was involving healing friendly NPC instead of killing everything that moves is being patched out. When I saw someone doing it I was actually so excited that this is such an out of the box way of solving the Torturer problem and so unusual and great.

    Really bad change. If zos wants healing option to be harder they shoul double or triple the amount of healing required but not removing the option entirely. Falgravn fight is already boring and they remove the one interesting mechanic that is not usual "kill things asap"

    I've posted this on Discord and reposting only because it captures how I felt about it when I learned of that Strat:

    It's disappointing that it's not the intended mech. It wasn't obvious and it felt like a "got ya suckers!" type of thing.

    Everybody is always focusing damage and this one thing wasn't about damage but just slotting a heal.

    I would like to see the option to heal prisoners left in the game but made more difficult and then the group bonuses you gain from actually killing tormentors buffed significantly (maybe make them last for the rest of the fight). That way there are interesting strategy decisions to make with differing levels of risk and reward.

    Agreed I think the mechanic for Healing instead of killing should be a little harder to make it more defined options but I didn't even know healing was an option until after beating vKA HM and learning of it blew my mind and I was impressed with Zos with me believing this option was intended. It was extremely creative and I hope they reconsider this before pushing it live.
