an excellent example of why this game is so annoying, they will just make up a term , and go figure.

It seems very clear to me.

It refers to your core combat skills as opposed to your extended combat skills which would remain unaffected.

So any skill that can be classified as 'combat' but is not part of your extended repertoire would in principle benefit from this.

    Super clear and straight forward.....
I keep forgetting the 5 years of gameplay that have constantly taught me which skills were considered 'core'.

Zos can't even decide if the destroy ult is aoe or direct damage... You think the term 'core abilities' is gonna be straight forward?

Such is the beauty of using 'placeholder' terms.

If you were to ask 'why would ability X not be affected?' it is simple to answer 'well, that is because ability X is not a core ability'.

'And what would be a core ability?'

'One that is not part of the extended arsenal of course. Conversely all non-core abilities are considered extended abilities'.

'Why thank you for the clarification, much appreciated.'

I guess these are "Core Abilities" as the game names them this way.

That's awesome. That WOULD make perfect sense to 90% of us ( me Included). But what is Zos ACTUALLY gonna do. Lol

Like how they came up with "Martial attacks" Like.... the only reason I know what that means is because I'm educated and could put two and two together. Had they said something along the lines of "Physical damage types" it'd have made more sense since most know Bleed, Physical, Poison, and Disease falls within that sphere.

I think that's a screen grab of the new "Advanced Stats" tab/page, so it is ZOS's definition.

The term physical damage is itself misleading. All the damage you deal is by definition physical. Non-physical damage would probably have to be spiritual, mental or imaginary damage.
I'm glad that you are educated, but a "martial attack" doesn't have to be non magical damage, e.g. the martial knowledge set is a magicka set. So really, ZOS just defines bonuses and skills as broadly as possible and lets the players figure out the rest.
