I hope these companions will be useful in Dungeons, unfortunately for me I only have one friend who plays ESO and I'm not able to run any of the 4-man dungeons on my own (all the sets I need for my builds are in them, too, of course). If I and my friend were able to have a healer and extra DPS (I prefer running tank myself), it would make content I haven't been able to touch at the moment finally playable.

I advice that you join some guilds then you can find people much faster

Even now finding someone that is on the same exact (or just close enough so we can get in sync) place in the quest as yourself was almost impossible.

Would be nice if we could customize their cosmetic look rather than them being pre-designed like the merchant/banker/houseguests.

We'll find out later what sort of limitations they have. I can't imagine that they will be allowed to expand the number of "players" past what content is designed for. For example, no 4 player + 4 companion dungeons. This is just a guess, but the fact that they disabled companions for solo arenas is a big hint. They should really limited this to overland stuff.
Dungeons and trials are already clogged up with pets and non-combat pets already.

Thanks for the correction. My brain knew that, but somehow with all the hype, it started blending facts about Update 29 with the Blackwood Chapter reveal.adriant1978 wrote: »silvereyes wrote: »We'll find out later today on PTS what sort of limitations they have.
Companions won't be on the PTS today. They are part of the Blackwood Chapter; what we are getting on today's PTS is the first dungeon DLC of the new story and the CP revamp.

Uhm, they revamped the Craglorn main quest like three years ago to make it soloable. It's as easy as any other quest content.
No, I don't think so. From what I've gleaned from Rich's comments and the fact that companions are disallowed in solo arenas, companions will be a replacement for a player in group content, not an addition:Does this mean companions can be your buff-monkeys instead of tanks and healers?
So you could try and bring companions into content like trials that greatly benefit from 12 player group buff sets like Ebon Armory, but they would be displacing a player that would ostensibly do a much better job of following mechanics and filling their assigned role. I guess I could see a role for them in normal trials to fill in if you are having trouble getting 12 people together.ZOS_RichLambert wrote:And so the beauty of this system and one of my hopes is, you know, you and a buddy could go and do four-player dungeons because you have two companions to help you out."
