I say 5 is a bit too small but sufficient. Say one social, one PvP and one

I believe that if there were less amounts of guilds people would also create a better cohesion within said guild. The guild would mean more to the individual player, the people within those guilds would mean more and it would incentivise people to a larger degree to participate and help eachother out.
Considering guilds can have 500 people in it, I see no reason to why guilds would only specialize in one thing; 500 active players is more than enough for any kind of activity.
You have an point, however part of the reason I quieted wow was because my guild was very nice but also small and kept falling apart because of drama.
The only reason why I played at this time was the social and I did not want to take the risk of dropping my existing guild and try for another.
In ESO this is so much easier and you can have guilds for various purposes, my main raiding guid is also very social has another PvP guild, has 2 trading guild, thought of dropping one as I might want to join another guild so have to ask if they have a trader because the PvP guild tended to have but think they stopped.

I am curious how can 5 guilds be too many when you aren't forced to be in 5 guilds or does my game keep crashing because I am only in 3 guilds?

    5 not enough.

    2 pve/social
    1 pvp/social
    1 trade
    1 private

Would like another couple of slots at least.

If you think 5 is too many, don't use them all. Problem solved. For me, 5 is far too little, make it 10.

    No.

If you want fewer, then join fewer. I'll never understand why some people are so invested in taking options away from other people when they could just choose to opt out if they aren't interested.

Also, as long as there's no central auction house... and I don't expect there ever will be... then many of us need more than one trading guild. But honestly, if other people feel they need at least five guilds, then it's none of your business why.

4th option: 5 guilds isn't nearly enough. 10 should be the minimum (/g6 thru /g10, or /g0 if they want to avoid a conflict with g1), since guild slot limitation is a common complaint of the RP community who are also often the ones throwing down crowns for fancy houses and cosmetics.

Also, never too many trade guilds. Zone chat is toxic enough that I don't care at all if it dies. It's only good for LFGs in Craglorn for trials anyways.
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

I’m not sure if you know this but you can change the color of your chats and can select special colors for the guild they wanna participate in so in the green stream of chats the ones you want will stand out if your a gm you can always have your guiltiest use this feature so they never miss out on activities I personally like 5 guilds because I play with all sorts of different people I’m in a social guild a trial guild a trading guild my buddies guild and a pvp guild and they all have different colors so I can identify what guild is speaking at a glance

5 is not enough. As edited in the OP.

Yes, I would take option four as well. We should be able to be in more then 5 guilds by this point.

There are some very unique guilds that focus on just a few things in Eso. They would be a nice guild to add in for myself like an extra hobby.

Plus not to mention, trying to help out a friends or a newer players guild that has just started. Extra guild slots would be very beneficial to the community imo.

Exactly. [snip] If you think 5 guilds is to many then don't join 5 guilds. You're not forced to be in 5.

I've never actually been in 5 active guilds at the same time, but I appreciate the option.

It was especially useful when one of my guilds was shutting down, because I could keep using guild chat to talk to people I knew, sorting out other ways to stay in touch or recommending guilds to each other, without having to hold off on joining new guilds until I was sure I was ready to leave that one.

As other people have said you don't have to use all the slots just because they're available, but I think it is a good idea to let players join multiple guilds and I think it's especially useful for more specialised guilds. In other MMOs I've played guilds dedicated to things like trials/raids or PvP would sometimes struggle to recruit just because they were only really active on their designated activity nights (maybe one or twice a week) and if you could only be in one guild that meant you had no one to speak to the rest of the time. As a result they tended to end up functioning as a sub-group within a more general purpose guild where they might not necessarily be a good fit.

This way it doesn't matter if one of your guilds is only active on Wednesday nights and another only on Saturday afternoons because you've got 3 others you can be in for other activities.

For me it's too much, I'm fine with one main guild for questing and chatting. The other one is only for training and has a quiet chat. But some people can handle more than this.

Biased poll, what about "5 guilds is not enough"? If you are asking about this you have to ask that as well. Because 5 guilds is not enough.

I already addressed this oversight in my original post... in bold so people would notice it... and you even quoted it...

EDIT: I forgot to add that 5 isn't enough. Please feel free to write that in.

I feel that allowing players to be in 5 guilds is excessive, and is killing in game chat. The reason being, if a player has 5 guilds all chatting, they start to tune a lot of it out, and thus they don't participate in conversations. Although this probably rarely happens because I haven't found a guild yet since returning over a year ago that uses in game chat very often anyway.

I can see how some players may want in their main guild, a trading guild and perhaps a RP guild. But what do they need the other 2 for?

How do you feel about this?

EDIT: I forgot to add that 5 isn't enough. Please feel free to write that in.

P.S. Please don't bring Discord into this.

Exceedingly Excessive, Having 5 guilds is absurd and quite surely will be distracting and drama inciting perhaps, a lot of work, interruptions, crazy 5 lol, 1 is more than enough I cannot understand these individuals do they even focus or play content instead chatiing

What is your definition of main guild compared to others? In general players waste so much time and energy for so many guilds lmao There is no way you can have freedom, peace with so many. Nonsense.

1 Guild or none for me and I have my own and myself in. ESO is too gigantic game to spend it on so much guild drama or talking to others you will never have time to experience most.

Its not like anyone would force you to chat in all of the guilds you are in.

I for example am nearly only chatting in 1 guild, had a few guilds that are pretty much dead and the rest is just trading guilds which i dont use for chatting, but for (obviously) trading.

Also i think people should be able to choose themselves if they want to chat with others or
    focus or play content
and i dont think its your job to decide that.

    What is in game chat?
Look, I'm going to be honest. I log into the game with the intention of actually playing it, so I don't sit there to chat with people. Unless I know some event is going on via Discord or someone engages me directly I'm going to generally ignore guild chat, and I'd do that even if I were in only one guild.

(This is not a condemnation on people who use the game socially, just an explanation of priorities.)

5 guilds is not enough in my opinion.

I have two social/PvE guilds, one guild with a friend, one PvP guild and one Housing guild. There is one Prog Trial guild I really want to join but am unable to, so I just stick around in their discord.

People have many interests lol, and it's a bit childish to think that just because people may be chatting in guild chat means they're not focusing on playing the game or missing out. There are many aspects to ESO; that's the beauty of it it imho- no matter what type of player you are, you'll find something to do.

Extremely biased poll. If you want a poll then just pose the responses and talk about it later. Personally, 5 guilds is not enough for me. I'm not super involved with chatting in all of them only because three are prominent trade guilds and all I need them for is to sell stuff and donate towards them. I really don't care if they are doing a world boss or looking for trial help, that's what my social guild is for. With only being able to list 30 items in each and having way more than enough stuff to sell I've even started using a second account just to join some extra trade guilds so I have room to sell things. I'd love to have "all the things" in one guild but the bidding market forces you to be extreme.
