Zone chat toggle

I'd like the ability to toggle on/off zone chat. What ya all think ?

I totally understand that, until the devs do this there is a solution, albeit an impractical one:

click + icon near the chat tab, and then use the menu to create a new chat tab, select everything you want to see (or rather deselect what you don't want to see like zone) and then use that tab, unfortunately this is a per character thing so will be rather time consuming, but will ultimately allow you to not see zone chat

I know that on PC you can just add different chat channels & customize them. "Plus" (+) button and then select what you want to enable / disable on new chat channel. Later you can click on the "gear" icon and edit it. So you can select nothing or npc only.

It is without any addons so it should be also available on Consoles.

I don't use an addon for that. Rather I use the in game feature of creating two chat selection choices. So I can very easily switch from one with everything on it that I named 'Zone' and one with everything but zone enabled that I call 'No Zone'. I spend 95% of my time on No Zone but sometimes come up on Zone. Works well for me since the normal zone jabber and drivel would drive me crazy.

You don't have any chat options on console? On PC, if you click on the gear symbol, you can turn on/off any chat you like, and you can make several different tabs.

My tabs are organized in More Social ---> Less Social order depending on my mood.

Xbox player here. I would like to be able to have my chat always on, and not fade out when there's not been activity for X amount of time. In some zones its not an issue, but a quality of life option i cant imagine would be too hard to implement.

Should be an option in game, as well as not losing chat when you reloadui, or logout/crash. But that requires an addon.

On PC you don't need addons or the addition of different chat channels to achieve toggling off zone chat. I don't use addons and haven't added any extra chat channels, I simply disabled Zone chat (and enabled English Zone chat which is far less obtrusive while still functional on the occasions I need it) the day I installed the game at launch. I agree that this basic UI function should be available on console but as I understand it the console interface was originally designed with voice chat only, not text chat.

It would be nice to toggle each chat off and on not just zone
