I miss so many things. The biggest one might be the lack of level scaling.

A mudcrab immediately post your initial escape from Coldharbour posing the same level of challenge as after you’ve taken on multiple Daedric princes?

    Pure insanity. Magical levelling mudcrabs!

Any alchemist will tell you that mudcrab chitin has magical properties!

@Iluvrien You know what else is pure insanity? A lion in Bangkorai being a bigger threat than Balreth. You know, Balreth. That Bone Colossus that more or less single-handedly drove the Covenant out of Davon's Watch.

At least now all mudcrabs in the world are equal.

Well, a vr12 wasp nest in original Craglorn release was a bigger challenge than Molag Bal, that's for sure. Still remember having to ask someone for help with killing them so that I can collect my survey map. And I've killed Molag and most other quest bosses at that point.

Vanilla ESO had a charm to it sure but this wouldn’t work nowadays because it would leave a lot of zones almost empty.

The main thing I remember from when One Tamriel was released was people saying variants of "my characters can go home!" people excited that they'd once again be able to play their character in the Alliance they had chosen instead of being forced into enemy territory just because they'd levelled up and completed the main story.

I don't think it would be very popular to revert that.

Best thing they did was One Tamriel. I don't miss before at all. Before you would see hardly anyone when doing Cadwell's Silver and Gold. WB's? Forget about it unless you had a helpful guild. Not to mention VR's. VR10 mudcrabs munching on poor unsuspecting undergeared players. It was awful. I'd never play a classic version personally.

Most importantly please release the Base vanilla game for offline use no dlc no patches
So like vanilla vanilla? No justice system, no dyes, no housing, soft caps, per mount training, pets in your inventory, and interior lighting that doesn't follow the change of day?

Before One Tamriel it was pointless to do all the quests in a zone - because there were too many and you out leveled them quickly - and if do them nevertheless, you will be outleveled in the next zone already at start. I don't like level-gated systems, but the old version was not just level-gating but as well be filled with too many quests to not get yourself outleveled, if you really wanted to follow the story content.

One Tamriel made an end to this - and opened the world up as well. To me that is progress providing freedom to play as one wants. I would have given up on ESO - but then came One Tamriel and since then the game is fine - before it was not fun,

I, too, sometimes indulge in nostalgia for old locations, veteran ranks, and other aspects of vanilla. But looking back, I understand that vanilla was the same chain of boring quests without gameplay. Honestly, literally clearing out the first couple locations, I began to suspect something was wrong. I remember being disappointed in Orsinium. It was a lovely location, but casual. We already had 15 such locations.

I don't think the PC player base wants to relive their trauma with pre-nerf Doshia.

A lot of the hard stuff should have stayed hard.

I miss player progression and storyline progression. I got tired fast of helping storyline chars later in the story because I bypassed earlier parts, and when I saw them in earlier parts - they had no idea who I was.

Thats not all of the problems with one-tam, by a long shot, but I'm in a hurry and those two stood out right away.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

My problem with "the hard stuff should have stayed hard" is that sometimes it didn't.

I remember taking my level 9 MagDK against level 11 Blaze and Ragebinder and getting my butt handed to me several times...and then coming back at level 13 and killing them with no problems.

The pre-One Tamriel leveling system did some weird things to difficulty.

(The other aspect of difficulty that I think a lot of players discount is simple inexperience. The first character I fought Doshia on was painful! But in hindsight, I was on a Heavy armor MagDK using one hand and shield with no food buff and i hadn't yet learned to interrupt harvesters.. Honestly, Doshia was hard in large part because I was a noob. My second character who fought her pre-One Tamriel, a medium armor Stam Sorc using dual wield and with a food buff, did considerably better in large part because I'd learned a lot about how to play in the meantime.)

I would not be here if it were not for One Tamriel. I came to this game a year ago on the promise of being able to freely travel Tamriel where I will.

If they ever forced us all back to the way things were before One Tamriel and locked all the zones save for our Alliances, I would definitely leave. It would take away the whole purpose of me being here in the first place.
